Racism A Vital Tool
A great speech by Iraq veteran Mike Prysner, who helped found March Forward!
to fight the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and urge members of
the military to refuse deployment there. A brave and eloquent soul.
"Our real enemy is not the ones living in a distant land whose names or policies we don't understand. The real enemy is a system that wages war when it's profitable, the CEOs who lay us off our jobs when it's profitable, the insurance companies who deny us health care when it's profitable, the banks who take away our homes when it's profitable. Our enemies are not several hundred thousand miles away. They are right here in front of us."

Note that while Mike Prysner may seem progressive, he's also very much conservative. You might not understand how he symbolises real conservatism, but he actually does. He's not really liberal, for he's conserving respect for the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, as well as international laws, conventions and treaties that the U.S. is a co-signer of, and the lives of innocent people, foreign and of U.S.A. He's both conservatively and liberally standing and speaking for human rights and U.S. military law. He's not progressive, because what he's defending has been law for decades, and the morality that he defends is nothing new.
If you elect him to the U.S. Presidency, however, then [you] would be progressive in your own life as well as society. You'd be progressing from voting for so-called "lesser" and "greater" evils, to no evils; and this would be very welcome progress.
Michael Prysner is a member of the Party of Socialism and Liberation.
This is a great speech; forward it to everyone!
Holy shit, that was awesome!
Send this to everyone you know!!!
If there is any hope for Americans, we must all recognize these truths to be self-evident. Our collective witlessness has resulted in allowing sociopathic sycophants to go rogue-- hell-bent on "full spectrum" global domination. Please forward this to as many people as possible in what little time remains, for the sake of humanity.
what happened to the media cameras. They sure covered this stuff when it was "Bush's war"
he is a TRUE , GENUINE hero for times of FAKE heroes in the USA. he is a hero for those that have needed to see through the eyes of others, such as he, that WARS, EXPLOITATION , and all the things he talked about, are indeed what is WRONG in a country like the USA with all its power and wealth wrapped around the very things and truths he condemns.
MAY he stay healthy and SAFE.
Mike Prysner, I highly commend you for saying very clearly and very publicly who the enemy of most of this country's citizens really is: the enemy, indeed, resides within, not without, this nation's borders.
When was the last time foreign troops roamed this land and killed its citizens?
There's a great 30 minute interview with Prysner and another March Forward organizer at www.antiwar.com/radio. Worth checking out.
Excellent video for Mike Prysner's speech. I posted a link over the past few days for a video for his speech without all of the war images, only showing him speaking at the conference he is speaking at; along with links to articles at Uruknet.info and Truthout.org, the latter for a piece by Dahr Jamail, on March Forward!. I have the other video bookmarked, as well as this one, and would like to recommend viewing both when posting a link for the video of his speech. I like the one showing only him speaking, along with reactions from the audience, but also appreciate this video Abby Zimet provided a link for, for the war images certainly are complementary.
Mike is PRESIDENTIAL. Why not Mike Prysner for U.S. President, the [next] one?! Skip electing him to the Congress or Senate; just make him President! In the Congress or Senate, he could make a good member, but like the other fine, enough anyway, members, they'd still be outnumbered. As President, he could and should have greater ability to defend the U.S. Constitution, etcetera.
He is definitely and clearly qualified to be President.
I'd also support Ralph Nader for U.S. President, no doubt about it, but Mike Prysner has an edge, and the video, his speech, based on his personal war-time or -zone experience as well as his understanding of all of this war bs is this edge; well, that, and clearly being very intelligent, and caring. Ralph Nader is fit for the presidency alright, but Mike served in the war and personally witnessed and committed acts that he clearly deplores; and the U.S., so far, is a war-making, genocidal, and omnicidal ruler-ship. And if Mike was elected President, then his evident open-mindedness tells me that he'd definitely listen to and discuss with, or team up with, Ralph Nader, for Mike clearly is not some conceited, self-righteous, ... individual. The man's mind is clear about what is and isn't reality.
I know of no members of Congress and the Senate who speak with the fervent devotion and care for real justice as Mike speaks with; and it's clear that this is from his [heart], as true as true can be.
Get him in the Presidential seat! And this is said without any intent to say that we shouldn't vote for Ralph Nader, for we certainly should. But if Mike ran, then I think that he should be supported, en masse(s), though I wouldn't like to see Ralph Nader sidelined. Nader's team could help to complete the White House administration, therefore.
Want real and good change? Then put your energy(ies) behind making it happen! NO MORE so-called "lesser" or "greater" evils! With the above people, these evils, which are only so-called greater and lesser, become an irrelevant question. NO MORE evils; "lesser", "greater", or "inbetweeners"!
People wanting to read the Uruknet.info and Truthout.org (Dahr Jamail) article can simply do an Advanced Google search to find the pieces at these websites. Dahr Jamail's article is of Dec. 14th, and the Uruknet one is more recent, I think, but can be found by searching for "March Foward!". The title of the Uruknet-posted article is about U.S. relations, or business, with the Kurds, or Kurdish north of Iraq, so it doesn't reflect the fact that much of the article is about March Forward!'s ten demands; but the latter is most of the article.
I posted those links a few times or more at CD and won't bother to do so again, now. But the video of the speech by Mike Prysner without the war images is also worth viewing. If we were to consider him as a candidate for the U.S. presidency, and no one can really argue that he's unfit or unqualified for this (!), then we'd want to be able to view [him] speaking, instead of other images. And I want to think in truly progressive terms, so yes, promote him for U.S. President.
Or do you prefer another Obama, Bush, Clinton, ...? If you do, then hell's waiting for your ass.
Barry and Michelle need to watch this video over and over and over and over and...
Who are Barry and Michelle?
my guess is the obamas.
Righto, mate. Barky and Micky.
I only read Abby's blurb, so I don't know what else, if anything, he said in the video. But if the whole thing was on that theme, *please* don't tell me that anyone here found it to be new information! Everyone here should have had that 'the enemy is within' information engraved on our synapses long ago.
Smedley Butler would be proud. I am pleased. I'm pleased to see that Prysner learned much quicker than Smedley. I learned at eighteen years old during basic training.
"I am an american fighting man. I serve in the forces that guard my country and our way of life."
That was my first general order that was pounded incessantly into our minds. With reagan's voodoo economics, a war drugs turning the "land of the free" into the highest per capita prisoner population, and massive deficit spending for weapons, there was no I was going to fight for that kind of "way of life." The things I would be ordered to fight for were the very things I'd be willing to fight against.
I find it amusing but I don't know why, that I was saying almost the exact same things as Prysner just a few days ago to one of my friends.
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron." Dwight Eisenhower
That may be the best thing a president ever said!
Oh yeah, I wish it were mandatory that every military trainee read Smedley Butler's War is a Racket and Eisenhower's Cross of Iron speech.
Now this is a GOOD man.
Most of the congress people who send us to war are beholden to their corporate financiers who profit from war. With rare exceptions they do not send their own family members to do the fighting. We are seen by Iraqis and Afghans as occupiers and allies of corrupt governments.
Michael Pysner eloquently tells the truth.
Finally,
Out of 300 million cowards ONE Heroic American still exists who knows the difference between Right and Wrong.
He lays it all on the line and shows us the best of American Values.
Death to ALL Corporate Kings!
God save the Constitution!
