Oops: Insurers Shoot Themselves in the (Over-Priced, Mean-Spirited) Foot

On the eve of the Senate health care vote, after months of making
nice with health reform advocates, nobody should be surprised the
insurance industry has shown its true, rapacious colors
by issuing a bogus report arguing that reform will result in huge rate
increases - because, that is, they'll go for them. Rep. Anthony Weiner
notes they make a potent argument, albeit inadvertently, for the public
option.

 "The
health insurance lobby today fired the most important salvo in weeks
for the public option, because they have said, as clear as day, left to
their own devices, according to their own number crunchers, they're
going to raise rates 111%... The health care industry is
making our argument for us."
