WTF?
Sarah Palin has pulled the plug on her governorship. Before the end of her only term. At an impromptu press conference. At her house. On a Friday. Before the 4th of July. And refuses to answer questions.
This is not in keeping with a woman with presidential ambitions.
And certainly not in keeping with a politician who has learned to milk a media frenzy for every last drop (see Letterman, David.)
No. This has the hallmarks of a politician slinking away before the shit hits the fan.
Really. If this were some double-bank-shot designed to bolster her presidential standing (as AP seems to suggest) would Sarah Palin choose to duck out on the first day of a three-day weekend? When the entire American mediaplex is off buying ice for the cooler?
No way.
Another shoe is about to drop, but what is it?
The only clue we’ve got, an oblique mention to a reporter from the outgoing Guv:
“You are naive if you don’t see a full-court press on the national level, picking apart a good point guard.”

Show AllAccording to my mom, who lives in Anchorage but is by no means an authority, many Alaskans (most likely of the Democratic sort) believe she simply "couldn't handle the heat." She liked being in the media spotlight but couldn't handle the flipside of that, which is the criticism. Plus, she had already used up so much of her own AND Alaska's money fighting the charges against her.
The FBI says it is not investigating Sarah Palin. Does that tell your Mom and you something about false accusations and having to prove a negative? It costs money for her and Alaska, but why blame her? Blame the ones who fear she'll run against Obama next election.
Sarah Barracuda just got nailed with another ethics complaint for charging a per diem fee for traveling between her home in Wasilla and her office in Anchorage, a distance of 45 miles. (And, of course, the Alaska taxpayers also fund a free residence for her in Juneau.) Since Alaska law says she can only charge travel expenses on distances greater than 50 miles, she is clearly in violation of the law. The complaint cites the fact that many Alaskans, state employees included, commute even further every day than 45 miles each way and receive no per diem reimbursement for their travel expenses.
Seems like she'll need that Fox News money (don't worry, she'll get a talk show as a platform to run for president, just like Huckabee), to pay back the state for this daily bit o' graft, added on to the thousands in illegal travel reimbursements for her family she's already received from the taxpayers of Alaska. It must be good to be the queen bee -- well, maybe not so much now that the honey's drying up.
Sarah Palin should go back on Saturday night live and do Tina Fey impressions all night.
Fair Saling Mrs. Palin, I wish you and your family well.
I smell a reality TV show offer in the air.
Johnny J-Rock
Ohhh, Devastating... Sarah, I was part of SaraPac all the way, She was perfect, was really hoping she would make a run at the Presidency .
As to Alaska, True True, She was right and and put Alaska first, they deserve better leadership, and Alaska needs to quit wasting their time and money on her.
Her Resignation is the biggest act of love to Alaska, America, and the world she can ever give.
Godspeed and farewell Sarah

Psych Fudge-
You are in serious need of an adjustment to your meds - your idoitic interpretation of reality sounds more like Ass-Fudge than Psych-Fudge. Keep on packin' Bushie!
Couldn't have said it better myself. Why don't these liberals wake up?
@ PsychFugue July 5th, 2009 10:50 pm: You have too many letters in your screen name PsychFugue. Drop off the last five letters, add an 'o' at the end, and you'd have a much better and more accurate screen name, you betcha!
You can't be serious with this drivel??????
I guess Sarah PAC money goes to trolling on progressive websites.
I'm working on a limerick for Palin, but in the meantime I have one for Sanford:
The guvner from South Carolina
sneaked off to old Argentina.
He was primed for blackmail
but the plot it did fail
plus the whore got stiffed for the vagina.
To Dickinson:
What the devil do you know about this? Just another hateful blogger defaming someone who has nothing to hide.
Just shut up!
Pardon the intrusion into your delusional world, but ta...Mrs. Palin defames her hateful self every time her mouth flies open. What the devil everyone knows about it (except you and your ilk) is what they've seen in her many lunatic performances.
You should be telling her to shut up.
Funny. I wasn't telling Palin to shut up, it was meant for Dickinson. If that's you, Seditious, get some facts out there instead of character defamation.
After what the media has put her and her family through, she wasn't strong enough in her fighting back. Now she should bring on her lawyers and sue all those jerks, like Letterman, Dowd, Collins, you, for libel.
ddg-
Whaaaa, whaaaa, whaaaa, whaaaa...
Why not go into the Whine business??? A nice vintage Lush LimpBaugh to swill til you vomit.
Obviously you were addressing Dickinson, not Palin, which is why I pointed out a few of the facts about the moron (Palin) that she has brought upon herself that the author was correct in discussing. As I said, "You should be telling her to shut up.", not Tim Dickinson. I guess you missed that, genius.
It is not "character defamation" or "libel" if it's true. In this case, Mrs. Palin's antics are well-documented on every news channel and newspaper in the country. You seem to miss the fact that this half-witted demagogue is her own worst enemy, not those that have reported or commented on her idiocy and lies.
Tell her to sue all of the above, and myself as well - IF she thinks she's got a snowball's chance to prevail.
You, like Dickinson, have no proof of Palin ever lying. There were no "facts" in Dickinson's column, only insults and innuendo. Don't be too sure that she has "a snowball's chance" in suing her foul-mouthed critics, especially the ones at the WP and NYT. Bill Maher is another clown who should shut up.
And who are you, Dickinson's mouthpiece? Let the rude smearjock defend himself.
"You, like Dickinson, have no proof of Palin ever lying."
Seeing Russia from her house is not a lie?
Maybe a slight exaggeration? OK, make that a whopper.
That was Tina Fey's impersonation of her dude. Palin said "They're our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska."
No, I'm a casual observer who knows a right-wing moonbat when I see one. If you weren't a brainwashed sheep, you'd see it too.
Turn off the Fox News TV and Limbaugh radio dreck. Stop being an imbecile, and start being honest. You'll be much better off for it.
I don't listen to Limbaugh and rarely watch Fox News. As far as I'm concerned, the stations are all the same, only different talking heads.
I hope Palin joins the Ron Paul Campaign for Liberty and helps to restore this country to the blueprint the Founding Fathers conceived.
Whatever she does, more power to her.
Then you get your info from other very bad sources and/or you lack the ability to discern fact from fiction. At the very least, you are intellectually dishonest since the many lies she has peddled have been listed below, not to mention the known record of her many investigations (and findings of guilt) for official malfeasance.
Mrs. Palin hasn't the foggiest notion of what the Constitution means, and your support of this charlatan proves you don't either. Any politician that's smart sees her as a political leper to be avoided.
Just for your edification, ddg716 July 6th, 2009 6:13 pm, here's a list, compiled by Andrew Sullivan, of a dozen fact-checked lies that Sarah Palin told as of Sept. 23, 2008. If you wish, I could cite more whoppers she has told since then, but I think this is sufficient to refute your claim that here is no proof of Palin lying.
"Just for the record, I asked an intern to go back and double fact-check the twelve documented lies that Sarah Palin has told on the public record. These are not hyperbolic claims or rhetorical excess. They are assertions of fact that are demonstrably untrue and remain uncorrected. Every single one of the lies I documented holds up after several news cycles have had a chance to vet them even further." [...]
"So for the record, let it be known that the candidate for vice-president for the GOP is a compulsive, repetitive, demonstrable liar. If you follow the links, here is the proof. I repeat: proof:
- She has lied about the Bridge To Nowhere. She ran for office favoring it, wore a sweatshirt defending it, and only gave it up when the federal congress, Senator McCain in particular, went ballistic. She kept the money anyway and favors funding Don Young's Way, at twice the cost of the original bridge.
- She has lied about her firing of the town librarian and police chief of Wasilla, Alaska.
- She has lied about pressure on Alaska's public safety commissioner to fire her ex-brother-in-law.
- She has lied about her previous statements on climate change.
- She has lied about Alaska's contribution to America's oil and gas production.
- She has lied about when she asked her daughters for their permission for her to run for vice-president.
- She has lied about the actual progress in constructing a natural gas pipeline from Alaska.
- She has lied about Obama's position on habeas corpus.
- She has lied about her alleged tolerance of homosexuality.
- She has lied about the use or non-use of a TelePrompter at the St Paul convention.
- She has lied about her alleged pay-cut as mayor of Wasilla.
- She has lied about what Alaska's state scientists concluded about the health of the polar bear population in Alaska.
You cannot trust a word she says. On anything."
-- Andrew Sullivan, "The Twelve Lies of Sarah Palin," The Atlantic, Sept. 23, 2008.
http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/09/the-twelve-odd.html
For your information, Andrew Sullivan couldn't find his backside with his own hands. How many times has he changed position? He has zero credibility since most of the "lies" he has listed are no more "lies" than the ones Obama has told.
Oh, are we still fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan? He was elected only because he promised to end the wars and bring the men home. That's what I call a real lie.
I really don't want to enter this highly intellectual discussion, but Obama never promised to end the wars. He talked of a draw down Iraq and an increase in Afghanistan, never peace.
Both parties represent moneyed interests and it is in their best interest if the people bump heads like this thread.
Class war is the real issue in these troubled times.
The moment Palin uses facts for anything, you have a valid claim.
My first reaction to her announcement was that she'd just learned she has breast cancer.
Guess only time will tell what's in the works.
Yet there are still idiots who cheer for her and buy everything she says as truth -- even when she contradicts herself three times in one sentence. Personally, I think she's gone stark raving mad but I don't know if that will hurt her political career.
Maybe she is moving to Paris with KD Lang after all?
(Malicious Wikipedia bio adulteration removed ealy in 2008.)
You guys are sooo cold. And heartless, hittin on my high school sweetheart and idolatrous wet dream. I'm an old man and you have stolen my foolishness.
What? No flailin Palin to kick around anymore?
Maybe now she can become the Playboy centerfold you just know we all wanted...last year. Before they amputated my prostate and elected "change we can believe in." Small change.
Lipstick on a sow's ear does not a silk purse make, but one can imagine...
Suddenly, after all the trillion-dollar bankster theft, I feel so bereft. Where is Hank Paulson when we need another sex symbol to remind us we've been screwed?
There is something BOVINE about Americans. When brought down by the Predator Class, we cease resistance. Money becomes speech. Speech does not. We welcome our own expiration.

Don’t Blame Sarah
She was selected as V P candidate because of her pro oil (and anti-environmental) stances, and religious right support. It was assumed that her lack of knowledge and qualifications (such as Bush himself & much of his team had possessed) would not preclude her effectiveness as the attack dog, even with her misleading resume--and that she would impress the same unlearned and inept voters that the republicans had managed to manipulate for nearly eight years.
They now pass the blame to Mrs Palen for their own ill conceived appointment over so many well qualified people.
To me it's evident that Senator McCain picked Governor Palin simply because she's a hot looking female Republican half his age. And she has a couple of young daughters who are even hotter. Ooo-la-la!
He just wanted to stand behind her, gawking at her female form while she gave speeches. And then there would be opportunities for her to brush a boob against him while looking over his shoulder. Maybe a boob against his cheek or arm once in awhile.
And then there's the hugs, where her boobs are smooshed against his chest. And there's the opportunity to give her buns a little squeeze during a hug.
I don't think his motives were far beyond that. John McCain loves the ladies. Period. He's addicted to his sexual fantasies. I too am a man, and I understand this. He was just being himself, thinking with his hormones, as usual. Nothing out of character for Maverick McCain.
Wholly inappropriate for world leadership, but then these folks are not true leaders. Just public whores.
No, I see a Palin/"Joe the plumber" ticket in 2012.
Putin must have reared his head. Or, maybe she'll do a playboy spread under the name "Tina Fey."
Sarah Palin and Carrie Prejean in 2012!?!?!
Palin is ahead of her time. America is not quite stupid enough yet to fully embrace a person who can't say anything that makes any sense at all.
Apparently a federal indictment for embezzlement is pending.

Ah HA! The thick plottens!
Not much different than what goes on in D.C. or any state capitol, just a bit more direct.
Bring America Back !!!!.........! The answer is fairly simple===dead polar bears nor dead wolves nor drilling in pristine tundra impressed Palin's inner circle of Neocon Repubby support !
**But, when it came to shooting down David Letterman,
a whole new Chapter evolved where the vast majority of her supporters were also late nite Letterman fans.
**She found out they were not about to let her pull
a CBS?MSNBC cowboy trick on Letterman. That did it !
Here comes a full court press of ethics and sniping from within her own base. "Only dead fish go with the flow " !
**So, she is smart to "duck out", declare her Independence right on July 4, lick those wounds,
and write that book !
**If Palin stays under the radar, and off of late
nite TV shows, who knows what 3 more long years of Obama failure may bring.?
**Especially if say, around the year 2011, Hillary Clinton conspicuously resigns her Sec of State position===the Repubbys may well be saying:
====='Say, what ever happened to that great Sarah
Palin ' ????
Anybody keeping a tab ...? Palin, Sanders, Ensign ... a fun group... keeping us in stitches...!
She blew it when she accepted the nomination-- she had a good thing going for herself in remote Alaska-- now's she toast...
The video was hilarious... truly ... the best... whale blubber? Moose hunter? Hmm, we haven't heard these qualifications before...
so what's next for Sarah? How will she bring in the bread since her husband's just a "fisherman."
Maybe basketball coach?
@revjimmyjoegheater July 4th, 2009 10:01 am: Where did you get the absurd idea that Sarah Palin displays only the US and Israeli flags in her office? The governor of Alaska has the Alaska state flag, as well as the US flag, in the governor's office, and I have yet to see any photo of those quarters where the Israeli flag is shown. Your comment is more than a little tainted with anti-semitism, rev jimmy joe, and I'd like to see the source for this laughable misinformation.
@ revjimmyjoegheater July 5th, 2009 5:34 am: Not good enough. If you saw a picture somewhere then provide a link so that we can all see it. And, by the way, a 3 X 5-inch Israeli flag near her desk is hardly the same as saying, as you did, that she only had a US flag and an Israeli flag in her office. It was probably a gift from someone and doesn't prove she's an agent of Israel anymore than a paperweight from NASA proves she's an agent from Mars. (Although, in Palin's case, I'd be willing to believe that.)
You also need to provide proof that all US governors take an oath of allegiance to Israel, and don't send me a link to your weekly church bulletin, written by you.
As to your third assertion, Rev JimmyJoe, you are again in error: I'm not Jewish and was raised a Christian. As an adult, I've studied Christianity to some extent and I'd suggest you read or reread Jesus' words in the Sermon on the Mount, (it starts in Matthew Chapter 5). You might pay particular attention to this part of the Beatitudes:
7:21 Not every one that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in
heaven.
7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not
prophesied in your name? and in your name have cast out devils? and in
your name done many wonderful works?
7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from
me, you that work iniquity.
7:24 Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I
will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew,
and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a
rock.
7:26 And every one that hears these sayings of mine, and does them
not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon
the sand:
7:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew,
and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall thereof.
So, RevJimmyJoe, I hope you love your enemies, as Jesus told you to do, and I would say that includes even Jewish people with whom you disagree politically. I might also remind you that Jesus considered himself a Jew when he was being executed by the Romans -- there was no such thing as a separate Christian religion yet.
Finally, I hope you pray in private; otherwise you may be violating Jesus' admonitions on the matter, also in Matthew:
6:5 And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites are: for
they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the
streets, that they may be seen of men. Truthfully I say unto you, They
have their reward.
6:6 But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have
shut your door, pray to your Father which is in secret; and your
Father which sees in secret shall reward you openly.
It's worth noting that the kind of person Jesus most condemned was the hypocrite; I hope you aren't building your house on the beach by being one.
RSJ, you may not be Jewish, but you certainly appear to be what is known as a rabid Zionist (A Jewish statement). I would also question Rev Jimmy's statement that the Israelis ask for an oath of allegiance of every governor in the US. The Israelis have a number of very powerful lobbying groups in the US, AIPAC being the most powerful. Since June 17 the Israelis have managed to censor out of all media in the US two stories from Haaretz, an Israeli paper. "Mossad: Iran Will Have Nuclear Bomb by 2014" and "Israel Can't Make up it's Mind About Iran Nuclear Timetable". These two articles show how intelligence has been falsified for years by the neo-cons and Zionists of Israel and the US to manipulate and sway public opinion for their own political gain. AIPAC even has the President parroting their line when our own CIA, the Russians, and the IAEA say it isn't so. Very disillusioining!
My concern with McCain and Palin was that her lack of reasoning and intellect showed way too much and McCain's reason for picking her was that she is knock out drop dead beautiful and he was thinking with the head on his penis rather than the head on his shoulders.
@ Aarky July 6th, 2009 12:39 pm: No, I am not by any stretch a 'rabid Zionist.' In fact, I think what the hard-right governments of Olmert and Netanyahu have done to the Palestinians in Gaza and elsewhere is criminal. But they do not represent all Israelis, any more than Bush's policies in Iraq represented the opinion of all Americans. If you read Haaretz and other Israeli newspapers, you'll find a diversity of opinion, and discover that there has been a strong opposition within Israel to the hard-right policies of the Olmert/Netanyahu governments, as well as prominent resignations from the armed forces by Israelis who disagree with the belligerence of the Jewish version of the neocons. I just think it's important to differentiate between the Israeli government and the Israeli people as some on this thread seem hard-pressed to do.
You used the phrase "lack of reasoning and intellect" in your comment. That's what I see when someone says 'Israel,' meaning the entire country or population -- which is borderline antisemitic -- rather than the actions of the Israeli government.
Let me put it this way: Some of you don't like Obama; would you like to classed as Obama-lovers by foreigners simply because you happen to be an American and he's the president? This is what you're doing to the Israeli people.
What´s the matter RSJ? Anytime you think someone critisizes Israel you want to call them a racist? If I were to say I saw the Jamaican flag and the Canadian flag hanging in the Prime Minister of Canada´s office would that make me anti-irie?
By your same standards you erroneously calling revjimmy an anti-semite discriminatory.
You are a big windbag jackoff who wants to pressure people away from a certain subject matter by scaring them off with insults. Well my friend, we´re not going to let you do that shit anymore.
I think the Israeli government is the biggest terrorist state on the planet, after the US government that is. And I challenge you to tell me the anti-semetism in that one RSJ. Show the logic in tagging people with your garbage who oppose the criminal organization that runs that country.
And Palin has her head so far up Israel´s rear end she represents more Iraeli interest groups than her own American populace.
Sorry but it´s true. Eat Crow windbag.
@ ThisMachineKill... July 4th, 2009 9:08 pm: Speaking of being a -- what was the choice of words you used to tell me I shouldn't insult people? -- oh, right, it was 'big windbag jackoff' (and I'm sure you didn't mean that as an insult), I simply asked for proof of RevJimmyJoe What's-His-Name's claims. Like RevJimmyJoe, I challenge you to provide something more in the way of factuality than your 'flying spaghetti monster' opinions apparently pulled directly out of your hind end to fulfill your crackpot worldview. There is no argument that the Israeli lobby has considerable influence in American politics, but to say that Palin has the Israeli flag in her office is another matter that requires more than your assurances that it's true. If you weren't an actual eyewitness in her office, then you must have read or seen this information somewhere, or else you made it up. If asking posters to prove wild-eyed claims like this one is 'pressuring people away from a certain subject matter' then so be it.
Let me say it again: There is a taint of antisemitism to those who imply that even Sarah Palin is in the back pocket of the Likud government currently running Israel which does not, BTW, represent all Israelis, just as Junior Bush didn't represent the views of most Americans.
When you make a statement such as "And Palin has her head so far up Israel´s rear end she represents more Iraeli interest groups than her own American populace," than you should be prepared to prove it with some reputable sources; otherwise people may think you are just some big wildly masturbating bag of wind.
Things are not 'true' just because you think they are, and I'm sorry if I 'scared you off' by listing the facts and asking for the same in return. Someone with the eat-nails screen name of "This Machine Kills..." you'd think would not be so easily intimidated, but I forget what a useful defense mechanism that uber-macho kick-ass bullshit is for fearful, insecure people, especially when they are safely ensconced behind a computer monitor, far from any actual physical danger.
BTW, who is this 'we' you're talking about in "Well my friend, we´re not going to let you do that shit anymore"? First of all, I'm not your friend; secondly, do you represent some organization, are you and RevJimmyJoe a couple, or do you think you're Queen Victoria? Finally, if you consider 'facts' shit, and it seems you do, then I can understand why you're so upset. For a competitive person such as yourself, at least at home in your bathrobe, it must hurt to be asked to 'put up or shut up' and have to go silent.
By all means, let's pray they accept the Prince of Peace, and then, like Christians, ignore every one of his teachings.
To all of you laughing at this tragic, repulsive woman let me remind you that America's stuck with a much more dangerous politician, Barack Obama, who has in 6 months broken each and every of his campaign promises and made fools out of his 60 plus millions voters. Palin wouldn't have gotten away with such a feat. Obama, however, who's slicker and more conniving than Palin has ever dreamed of, has advanced the cause of the right more than Palin or McCain could have. So don't laugh, clowns, cry.
@obusha July 4th, 2009 9:35 am: That's just not true. Obama has not broken 'each and every one' of his campaign promises. He's pushing for health care reform with a public option, as he promised; he enacted an economic stimulus package, as he promised; he's set a deadline of one year for closing Gitmo, as he promised; he's set a timeline for removing combat troops from Iraq, as he promised; he's signed executive orders banning torture, as he promised; and he's engaged in diplomatic talks with other nations without the threat of force, as he promised. There are many things I would criticize Obama for doing -- such as keeping the White House logs secret as Bush did -- but it's simply a lie to say he didn't keep any of his campaign promises.
I suggest you check the facts before you smear someone with wild falsehoods.
And he promised to enlarge the war in Afghanistan and invade Pakistan and...he kept the promise!
Can you stop apologizing for Obama's failures, please, it's pathetic.
@ obusha July 5th, 2009 12:30 am, like most dedicated Obama-haters, you have a severe reading comprehension problem and you need a dictionary, since you obviously don't understand the meaning of simple English words like 'apology.' I didn't apologize for Obama in my previous post -- I simply listed what he had done and what he has proposed in response to the erroneous charge that he had not kept any of his campaign promises. That's considerably different than an apology.
BTW, as to your assertion on 'obusha July 5th, 2009 12:44 pm' that we 'Dem Party apologists can't handle you,' I'd like to point out that, first off, I'm not a Democrat (you're wrong again), and that there's nothing to 'handle' here: Your argument against Obama, based as it is on pure vacuous bias unafflicted with truth, is so full of holes as to be non-existent. You're not even a bag of wind -- just a passing gas.
You 'progressive' Obama-haters must be mighty proud of yourselves for being on the same side of the facts as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly.
obusha
you are a loud mouth
Darn right, and you Dem Party Apologists can't handle me.
Similarly, you should stop expecting Obama to be Nader and attacking him every time he shows that he's not.
Yes and no.
Ok, I'll be a Dem Kool-Aid Drinker like you instead then, happy?
Believe it or not, there are options other than "Dem Kool-Ade Drinker" and "has to lie about Obama's record". It is possible to be opposed to most of what Obama is doing and still be able to say truthful things like "Bush is worse" without being an "apologist". I'm no Democrat and I'm also not an idiot who has to lie about "both parties are the exact same".
If you say so.
I'd like to understand why you are so upset with Obama. Did you think he could make a hard left on day one? He has to bring the country along with him on all the issues. That takes time and a lot of work. From my vantage point he is going in the right direction and is executing his plan one step at a time in very workmanlike manner.
Workmanlike I'll buy. Would he weren't working for ghouls.
"Right" direction is correct. Your generalities about his accomplishments are ridiculous. It's one thing to go slow with changes, it's another to reinforce, turn into law and protrect from prosecution the Nazi policies of his predecessor. Your excuses and apologies for Obama are foolish, really, don't be preposterous.
My thoughts exactly. At the rate Obama's deteriorating and further trashing progressive ideas and values, I've gotten more upset and angry about this administration as much as I have of Dubya's that if I were forced to pick between him and Sarah Palin by 2012 and no other candidates were available, I'd vote the latter in insanity. That doesn't mean I'm a Republican in case anyone was wondering.
@ JenniferBedingfield July 4th, 2009 2:38 pm: You had a Freudian slip at the keyboard there: "...if I were forced to pick between him and Sarah Palin by 2012 and no other candidates were available, I'd vote the latter in insanity." Indeed, you'd have to be insane to vote for Sarah Palin for president.
I'd like to understand why you are so upset with Obama. Did you think he could make a hard left on day one? He has to bring the country along with him on all the issues. That takes time and a lot of work. From my vantage point he is going in the right direction and is executing his plan one step at a time in very workmanlike manner.
Bring America Back !!!!.You betcha Obusha said it a lot better than you did above,.and Palin is pretty darn far from your "vapid bimbo" label. You wanna
re:think that revjimmyjoe ??
It is the people who supported (and still support) Gov. Palin who scare me.
Of course if it were not for the media who refuse to simply allow her to fade away onto the back pages of American history we would today be asking: Sarah Who?
Good riddance!
If only.
I think she will become the figurehead for a new radical right political party.
@ baruchzed July 4th, 2009 9:02 am: I think you're onto something there. The GOP is splitting into the 'Colin Powell hardheaded conservative' faction and the far-right Christopublican/Limbaugh Dittohead faction. Sarah Palin would make an excellent candidate for the CLD's -- she's uninformed and proud of it; doesn't know history or geography and doesn't care to, so she makes it up; refuses to appreciate factuality and science, preferring her interpretation of the Bible to the truth; and she's unerringly upbeat and optimistic because she knows that God loves her lies, treachery and all. They could call themselves the 'Know Nothing Party,' except that's already been used. Funny thing, American voters of the 19th century didn't find 'Know Nothing' an appealing political concept -- I don't think they will today either.
We already have 2 of those - GOP and Dems - but they're not new. And besides, "new" parties aren't allowed at the feeding trough.
the american sheople will fall all over in love with her again for "standing up" to the powers that be.
as stick posts, she's shifting her focus from four-legged wolves in the wild to the two-legged versions in our nation's center of power.
a nation of losers.
blogspot: Whoa. We need her to campaign for President against Obama. Wouldn't that be fun. The Golden Tongue who talks out one side of his mouth while he writes his next speech under under the table with Sarah chirping "youbetcha" from the "other side of the aisle" which will exist only in dialogue.
To me, the David Letterman bit proves that Sarah Palin will do anything for center stage.
They lost the election through lies, but didn't learn their lesson.
Palin so wants to be top-of-the-world and had an imaginary taste of it in the election. Now, Palin can no longer handle being out of the lime light.
BTW: if a ship captain yelled "stay tuned" as he left his crew with a sinking ship, what kind of future would he have has a captain of another ship?
Something sleazy is in the works.
Is there an Alaskan senatorial election coming up in the next year? Unless there is a family scandal brewing, she's looking for national recognition......
@ Johnboy July 4th, 2009 1:46 am: LOL -- she could have spiced things up by having turkeys slaughtered in the background, a perfect visual accompaniment to her political career.
@ leah1946 July 4th, 2009 2:31 am: Sen. Lisa Murkowski is up for reelection, but all the Alaska polls say she'd beat Palin flat. I heard on the radio recently that it'd be a close call if she ran for governor again -- she's lost considerable support in her home state since she became a national figure and exposed her profound inadequacies for office. She also has the Alaska Republican Party against her -- her only thin sliver of energized support, both financial and GOTV foot soldiers, came from the religious right, and there are not enough of them Up North to guarantee her election as Wasilla mayor again. Even the residents of her hometown are tired of her.
Sorry folks. This would be funny if not so scary. We are celebrating the death of a freak and maybe running an idiot for president. We are doomed!
It is Republican. It is therefore a fascist whore for predatory capitalism. It is traitorous to the American people, as all Republicans are. That it is an idiot at least makes it amusing.
Bring America Back !!!!...........Gee whiz, god...glad you're talking about
Gov Palin, for a minute there I thought you were describing Hillary Clinton:
**To quote Clinton in her campaign vs. Obama, she said: .."I'll do anything it
takes to win and become President". !
**Clinton was being wined and dined around NYC by Rupert Murdoch, owner of the
Fox TV and NewsCorp==chief cheerleaders for the Neocon Bush War Crimes !
**Clinton was meeting, greeting, and dining with Richard Scarboro--admitted head
architecht of the "Radical Right Wing Conspiracy" which She adamantly proclaimed
was working against her and hubby Bill
**Hillary has been embedded with AIPAC--right wing radical Zionist Lobby for
very many years.
**Clinton proclaimed Obama not fit to answer the famous 3am phonecall at the
Whitehouse in times of emergency.
**On Iran, Clinton says...."We will just obliterate them.!"
**On the GAZA Genocide, Clinton whispers not one word of protest or humanity !
1500 dead Gazans including 300 innocent children !
Now that she is US Secretary of State, what other beds does Hillary Clinton need
to sleep in to qualify for your title of "fascist whore", or do you just
keep that special for Gov Palin ??
All in all, I found the speech extremely uplifting.
While it lacked coherence, it made up for that shortcoming with an upbeat tone and energy you just don't hear in most resignation speeches. It made me wonder if she had gotten a discount on some of those products her in-law's cook up.
I thought the loons (the ones out on the lake) did an excellent job of providing a running commentary, but by way of constructive criticism I think the speech might have been better if she had broken it into two or three sentences.
And while Ole Rudy was accused of composing his speeches from a noun, a verb and "nine eleven", Sara's formula seems to be to use a noun as a verb, a verb as a noun and "you betcha".
Still, the pundits seem to believe she has a promising political future if she will take this opportunity to read up on foreign affairs (other than Sanford's). I hear the GOP is already gearing up to help her and is buying her an extensive library of refrigerator magnets.
George C. Brown - OK, she's quit; maybe the best way to really put her on the sidelines as a non-entity is to just drop the matter, and publicly forget there ever was a Governor ________ whoever.
Perhaps after years of gazing at Russia from her front porch Mz Palin has decided to defect to a land unfettered by the tyranny of the majority.
She's not welcome in California
Good riddance to bad rubbish, yea you betcha!
- Insurgent
One less whacko abusing my political system. Happy independence day!
I Remember Ruth Buzzi on Saturday Night Live saying
"Never mind!"
