The Divine Answer To Our Economic Woes: More Prayer, Less Debauchery

We thank God for Oklahoma's Rep. Sally Kern, who has proposed a resolution to lead us out of our recession and multitude of earthly woes. Her whereas-strewn Citizens' Proclamation for Morality blasts a nation "that has become a world leader in abortion, pornography, same sex marriage, divorce...and other forms of debauchery" – not to mention a president who "disregards the biblical admonitions to live clean and pure lives by proclaiming an entire month to an immoral behavior" – and calls for "a national awakening of righteousness in our land," presumably followed by fewer layoffs and foreclosures.
"WHEREAS, the people of Oklahoma have a strong tradition of reliance upon the Creator of the Universe...and WHEREAS, we believe our economic woes are consequences of our greater national moral crisis....NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we the undersigned....believers in the One True God and His only Son, call upon all to join with us in recognizing that Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord."

Show AllThis woman is a loon. She is clearly not stable, and should be remanded for observation. Isn't it amazing that she doesn't see those who actually DID the deeds that caused this collapse as guilty at all, but it's the actions of those who had NOTHING to do with it that destroyed our economy?
Maybe someone should remind her that God doesn't deal with things economic, but spiritual. And maybe someone should show her the passages in the Bible where Christ says to NOT pray in public, and to live as an example of what his teachings are about. She wants to turn everyone in the country into just as big of a HYPOCRITE as she is.
Sorry, but Aesop said it quite well: The Gods help those who help themselves. Go ahead, Loony lady, spend all day on your knees but get the heck out of the way so that some of the rest of us can fix what you and your loony party have destroyed.
How on earth did this insane person EVER get elected, even in OK? Based on what she has said lately, I would have her committed, not elected.
Oklahoma - it figures.
More Payer, Less Greed might help. To find the cause of real disasters look in the mirror.
"NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we the undersigned....believers in the One True God and His only Son, call upon all to join with us in recognizing that Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord (sic).'"
Wait. I'm confused. I thought that W was the second coming of Christ.
You'd think that after years of praying for rich husbands, wives with bigger tits, new cars, HD TVs, and winning lottery tickets just to wind up stuck in the same trailer park in which they were born that some of these folks would wise up.

She poses next to an Indian. I wonder what he thought of the piousness of the 'new' Oklahomans, whose belief in God and the Holy Book certainly outweighed our own.
If she would just add television to her list of demonic influences she might have something. Somebody, maybe Kern herself, needs to start a church where the devil is identified as the boob tube. And restricting computer screen output to text would get rid of that avenue of decay and debauchery, I would think. There you go Kern, denounce the demon boxes that present images from afar. You might do more good than you think!
Apologies are herewith tendered to the: (pick one) I hate, don't believe in, or seriously doubt the existence of a Diety crowd. The following contains possibly inflamatory language and should be avoided by such people if they would at all be offended by such.
Yo, Sal, great idea, but very incomplete application. As long as you are lambasting immorality, how about you also include in your condemnation:
A nation that idolizes the accumulation of things at the expense of the rest of humanity?
Or a nation that takes God's name in vain by invoking His blessing on wars of aggression fought for the purpose of acquiring oil reserves or pipelines to tranship petroleum from afar?
Or a nation that dishonors their elders by worshiping youth, glamor, and "sexy" and despising and rejecting the wisdom of age?
Or a nation that goes 24/7/365 and never really takes a day to just plain rest from their burdens and get out of the circular hamster cage of existence to slow down enough to ask itself "what's the point of my life anyway?"
Or a nation that leads the world in murders, robbery, rape, and other violent crime.
Or a nation that can never get enough "stuff" and is always coveting more, more, more. Whose former president when confronted with the worst crisis to befall our nation since Pearl Harbor could think of nothing better to counsel his people than to go out and shop till they dropped and to not put off that trip to Disney World they might have been planning?
Last time I looked Sal, idiolatry, coveting, lying, murder, rape, dishonoring of parents, and refusing to rest for a day a week were considered "immoral" by God Almighty and Jesus too.
Poet
Why is she posing next to a member of a race of people that HER race stole from, butchered, and left to starve, destitute.
Does she think the spirit of that Indian is a testament to her honesty, piety, compassion?
Whereas huh? BITCH
nietzsche,
i noticed that weirdness as well, hypocrisy has no bounds....
...peace...
Glad everyone picked up on that. Shouldn't the picture have been with her nuttiness standing next to the head of the statue mounted on her den wall or something? "And let that be a lesson to all of you nonbelievers!".
Gotta let the freaks have their fun I guess.
That's the first thing I noticed. Her beloved country, under God and His Son, enslaved hundreds of thousands of Africans, tried physical and later spiritual genocide on the American native, and has been in some kind of conflict or another ever since it's conception. It is her kind of mindset that is seeing to it that America keeps on being the same awful blight on the world that it has been all along.
Just another moral Republican like Gov. Sanford in S. Carolina, right? She fits in with the one from Minnesota - Bachmann - looney as can be.
I don't think that "God", if there is one, really cares a whit about what we humans are doing down here to screw up the planet Earth.
how tragic.................
Sally Kern sounds like Jerry Fawell when 9-11 happened. It is irrational to cite the sins of the flesh as the reasons for all the problems in America. And I hate when people refer to God as the Lord. What the blazes does that mean? Jesus, the one they believe is God, was a working man not an aristocratic "Lord"
Her statement " Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord" [an aristocrat] is what got us into The mess our country is in. America worships the people with money and power regardless of how ignorant, cruel, greedy, violent, or insane they are. They get away with torture, genocide, mass murder, breaking international laws, violating the constitution ,the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights. A theocracy is wrong whether it is Taliban, Christian or Jewish or any other religion.Where do we get these Representatives?
Sally Kern does not represent the thinking, intelligent people of Oklahoma, only those ultra-Right fanatics of her own religion, who went all-out to get her elected. Like them, she checked her brain at the door, content to be spoon-fed a rigid belief system and then make it her life's goal to force it on the world.
If Ms. Kern needs to preach, moralize, judge, force her belief system down the throats of others, she should get behind a pulpit, not stand at a press conference on the steps of the state capitol. Not one cent of her proselytizing should come from public monies.
She is an embarrassment to the state of Oklahoma, a disastrous liability, yet another obstacle to bringing the state into the 21st century. Her fanaticism puts her right in the same category as the Taliban, in my opinion. Just another fundamentalist whack-job who, given the opportunity, could be very dangerous. Wake up, Oklahoma.
BTW, her e-mail address is: sallykern@okhouse.gov
I suspect that Rep. Kerns' sphincter is constricting her trachea. IF she wishes to believe in the Biblical creation story, she would have to submit that God's gift to mankind was "free will". People with free will submit to no "LORD" and have no masters. Those who would choose to bow down to a LORD and follow blindly are rejecting the greatest gift given to them by GOD. That said, as many have noted, the Indian nations, represented by the statue beside her had a far better understanding of devine intent than any of the modern churches. (IMHO)
Every day I pray to God asking that he deliver more debauchery into my life and God comes through with the goods nearly every time. How can I question the existence of God with results like this?
Oh when the Saints,
Oh when the Saints,
Oh when the Saints come goose-stepping in...
Didn't this twit just violate the separation of Church and State?
Oh well, I guess the Texas Taliban or West Texas Wahabi's (or what ever the hell the neo-fascist pro-zionists are called these days... I prefer the term Armageddonist) will get their way and drive the US into the arms of a totalitarian theocracy as Margaret Atwood predicted in 'The Handmaid's Tale'...
Walk in peace.
>>Luke 17:5-6 "The apostles said to the Lord, 'Increase our faith!' The Lord replied. 'If you had faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.'"
It obvious this woman does not have enough FAITH. So why is she condemning everyone else?
Yes, praying is going to fix the economy (and everything else, natch).
You idiots.
O K L A H O M A Oklahooooooommma!!!! Yeaoughhhhh!!!
It's time they wrote a new musical about this place. They might include the Okies who fled to California and suffered greatly only to turn into the most bigoted ass holes in the country. And not to forget the pious, sanctimonious Sally Kern and the voters who put her into office.
"...whose God is the Lord."
And I thought this nation's god is a gun.
She is just plain pathetic; but then so are about 30 percent of this nation who are just like her.
Yep, and evolution is a lie and the sun revolves around the earth. Most Christians believe the former, and twenty percent of Americans believe the latter.
As long as America keeps putting true believers in office, it will be a pathetic giant, stumbling around the fringes of medievalism.
This woman is insane, pure and simple.
