More Bull

A new campaign aimed at quelling the entirely justified surge of populist anger at Wall Street fat cats has help from a master of spin: Jim Wilkinson, a former GOP aide to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and member of the Bush White House Iraq Group who helped make the fact-skewered case for deposing Saddam Hussein. As the aptly-named Director of Strategic Communications, Wilkinson coordinated a daily misinformation campaign on Afghanistan and Iraq; now he's part of a "city-by-city, grass roots" effort by the securities industry to convince the public they're the good guys.

The industry “must be perceived as part of the solution, which will allow it to better defend against populist overreaction,” says a memo.
