WASHINGTON, DC - May 19 - AP is reporting: "Privately held consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton ... plans to sell a majority stake in its U.S. government business to private equity firm Carlyle Group for $2.54 billion, and spin off its commercial business into a separate company." TIM SHORROCK Available for a limited number of interviews, Shorrock is author of the new book Spies for Hire: The Secret World of Intelligence Outsourcing. Earlier this month, he wrote the piece "Carlyle Group May Buy Major CIA Contractor: Booz Allen Hamilton." Shorrock said today: "From my various sources and leaked documents, I estimate that the intelligence budget is about $50 billion and a full 70 percent of that goes to private contractors like Booz Allen Hamilton, the Carlyle Group and CACI. Making functions like the gathering of intelligence into profit centers is a remarkably dangerous thing to do." This morning Shorrock appeared on "Democracy Now" More Information ### |
