NARAL Pro-Choice Vows to Protect Americans' Privacy in Supreme Court Battle

WASHINGTON -- May 16 -- NARAL Pro-Choice America, the nation's leading advocate for personal privacy and a woman's right to choose, issued the following statement regarding columnist Robert Novak's reference to its efforts to track the Bush administration's pursuit of Supreme Court nominees who would overturn Roe v. Wade. "NARAL Pro-Choice America is reviewing public records of potential Supreme Court nominees because we know President Bush is determined to name judges who will overturn Roe v. Wade - and if he chooses this course of confrontation, we are determined to stop him. The leaders of the radical right are in the process of selecting the potential nominees they will approve for the Bush White House. We will be ready to defend Americans' rights once a vacancy is announced." NOTE TO REPORTERS: Novak's column misquoted Keenan. She said 'ideological activists' when referring to far right judicial nominees, not 'theological,' as he wrote. ### | |
