WASHINGTON - April 19 - Reps. Waxman and Markey wrote today to President Bush asking him to explain Bob Woodward's assertion that the Administration reached an agreement with the Saudis that would lower oil prices in advance of the 2004 presidential election. The members urge the President to immediately address this claim, arguing that, "our nation's economy is too important to suffer from high gasoline prices to suit the political timing of any Presidential reelection campaign."
