Melissa Bollow Tempel teaches 1st grade in the Milwaukee Public Schools. She co-edited Pencils Down: Rethinking High-Stakes Testing and Accountability with Wayne Au. Her 1st- and 3rd-grade daughters have been opted out of standardized tests.
