Israel Still Hampering Efforts to Clear Unexploded Ordnance - UNMACC

by Mohammed Zaatari

SOUTH LEBANON: Nearly a year and a half after the 2006 war with Israel came to an end, efforts to clear South Lebanon of unexploded ordnance are still being hampered by Israel’s refusal to provide key information to the United Nations, the UN Mine Action Coordination Center’s (UNMACC) media and clearance officer Dalia Farran told The Daily Star on Tuesday.0326 11

“Israel is still refusing to inform the UN of the geographic spots it littered with cluster bombs, and of the quantity and type of such ordnance,” she said.

The UN still does not even know the number of weapons Israel dropped north and south the Litani River, Farran added.

“There are millions or hundreds of thousands … we do not know, despite our repetitive calls on Israel to hand over maps of the planted mines and cluster bombs. All we know is that we could get rid of 141,000 cluster bombs. Some of them have exploded due to high temperatures, heavy rainfalls and floods,” Farran said, adding that new locations of cluster bombs were still being discovered.

“We located a new area filled with bomblets a few days ago, increasing the number of bomb-stricken locations to 965, i.e. a surface of 39 millions square meters,” she said. “We have succeeded in clearing 41 percent of that surface.”

The weapons have already killed 289 people, Farran said, adding that they “have claimed the lives of 27 civilians and 47 soldiers from the Lebanese Armed Forces and UNIFIL.”

Asked about the cost of clearing operations, she said: “Some $60 million have been offered to us by the international community. The UAE is the first contributor in the mine-clearing operations, while Holland is the main contributor in the operations of cluster bombs clearance.”

“However much I may worship personality-powerful individual personality in
statesmen, inventors, artists, philosophers, or leaders, as well as the
collective personality of a historic group of human beings, which we call a
nation–however much I may worship personality, I do not regret its
disappearance. Whoever can, will, and must perish, let him perish. But the
distinctive nationality of Jews neither can, will, nor must be destroyed
    ~
Theodor Herzl, Father of Political Zionism

“Neither Jewish morality nor Jewish tradition can be used to disallow terror as a means of war. We are very far from any moral hesitations when concerned with the national struggle. First and foremost, terror is for us a part of the political war appropriate for the circumstances of today, and its task is a major one: it demonstrates in the clearest language, heard throughout the world including by our unfortunate brethren outside the gates of this country, our war against the occupier.” ~ Yitzhak Shamir

Not much I can add to that.

So, the Zionist butchering of the innocent continues. How much longer will the world continue to give these murderers a free pass? Has the world gone insane to permit this? Israel needs to be taken before the Hague to answer for her offenses. There is no other way.

Things have marginally changed over the past few years. Nonetheless, to call Israel The Zionists State is sill something to be avoided “polite” company, even though it is a completely valid and appropriate designation.

How many otherwise informed people are aware of the World Jewish Congress, “one of the most storied and influential Jewish organizations of the last century”?[Forward] How many are aware of the influence of the Zionist Movement on US and world politics and policies? McCain, Pelosi, Clinton, Obama, etc., certainly know about AIPAC. Why is it all such a dirty little secret?

“But you have to understand, you’re talking about a forbidden subject. No
one wants to talk about Jews. It’s a no-no. It’s like your talking about
something that’s wrong. You’re not even supposed to give your opinion.”
    ~
    Former Alabama Congressman, Earl Hilliard.

From A to Z, heaven to hell.

The elite of the US of Zionism do not give a damn about cluster bomb clearance either. They made those evil weapons, sold them for profit, knowing what they do, and what Z would do with them. There is no public political pressure on Israel to clean up its messes coming from the power mad US administration. No word about this passes the lips of the 3 holy Zionist presidential candidates. (2 democrats, 1 republican, all their lips are sealed by ambition and media). The current apocalyptic USZ administration is bent on further savagery with Iran, and still investing heavily into Weapons of Mass destruction, with new Missile Offence Systems up close and pointing at everyone they currently hate, and that is nearly everyone, and also expanding its bio-terror warfare laboratory capacity at home. These are the sort of preparations that mass murderers do before murder everyone and anyone in a massive rage at the local school, university or shopping mall in the US. There is a build up of weapons, the making up of hate lists, increased isolation and intense psychotic ideation, as they work themselves into a killing focus. Whatever I think of the US of Z as members of the human species, its external behavior as a nation is that of a sick psychotic armed killer. Colonized from religious pioneers, bathed in the blood of native extermination, exploitative slavery, and reaping the previously unexploited wealth of a continent, they are the now number one Vampire (the term empire is far too nice). of the earth, leeching its health away. We are not at all jealous of their way of live, just totally scared of their presence and its consequences.

The nation of Z is the murderous offspring, the bastard result of the union with the aging British imperial lust for glory, and brought up from babyhood by neighborhood slaughterings and deprivation of home to the original Palestinians to feed its own appetite for land and resources. Z now lives in paranoid fear of retribution for its many crimes, and is occupied by a population of racially abused and abusive religious maniacs, selective bred for centuries to believe only they are gods chosen, each child raised on a culture of exclusivity and specialness. Nothing wrong with that until it includes murder. Now the Palestinians are the real Jews, the persecuted ones, who are not allowed to fight back. The US and Z, the parent and child naturally belong to each other. No one else could love them.

It would be nice, as a possible gesture of unrequited kindness, for the US to give some remaining shekels still left in its death dealing trillion dollar printing money account for the hate driven extermination of all foreign life forms, to try some more humanitarian works. Maybe to try and say sorry once in a while. The US might try to remind itself it has a soul (a psychological, practical behavioral one, not at all supernatural), and that soul needs to do some good works for its longer term salvation, especially in hard times. Otherwise it has no self worth. War will always bring eternal damnation. I thought they read the bible in the US, it has some better bits about human nature and reciprocity. And damn the attitude of the US of Z. To forgive is to turn the back on evil and to give something good before we all perish. Could it be tried once again, just a little bit, please? Just do something to show that they do not always have a purpose only to gain a profit, power or domination? It could be front page news.

Moran (D-Arlington and Alexandria, VA) is one of our more progressive and courageous members of congress, as indicated by the above slanderous cartoon.

Israel wants Lebanon to be a mess, and its people to continue dying from Israeli weapons. That way, they can get the terrorist response they crave for the sake of world opinion.

Israeli losses associated with their long war of expansion are not only trivial compared to how many they’ve killed, they are small compared to what happens in the US due to automobiles and homicides.
