Anti-War Protesters Chant "War Criminal" at Rice
Chanting "war criminal," anti-war protesters waved blood-colored hands at U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Wednesday, but police held them back as she left a Capitol Hill hearing room.
Earlier, Republicans had complained about the distraction from the group as they held up signs saying "Condi Kills Kids" during the hearing on the State Department budget.
But the chairman of the House of Representatives committee, a New York Democrat, declined to eject the protesters.
"We're here in the United States of America. And as long as they don't disrupt this proceeding and as long as they're silent, they will be welcome," said Rep. Nita Lowey, who runs the subcommittee overseeing State Department appropriations.
"But they may not stand and they may not disrupt the proceedings."
The demonstrators, between 15 and 20 members of the Code Pink organization often seen at congressional hearings on Iraq, included one woman who was arrested last autumn for waving blood-colored hands in Rice's face.
The protesters wore pink T-shirts splattered with red, as well as pink scarves and pink artificial flowers braided into their hair. There were occasional outbursts from the group.
"Thank God," one protester said when Rice, an architect of President George W. Bush's Iraq policy, said it was her last appearance to testify on the budget.
Rice ignored the protesters. Several plainclothes police officers and uniformed Capitol Hill police watched them warily.
"I am embarrassed for the entire committee," said Rep. Jerry Lewis, a California Republican.
"I hope we never do this to the likes of you again," he told Rice.

Thank you, Representative Lowey, for upholding their first amendment right to protest.
Lewis should be "embarrassed for the entire committee." Not from protestors, but for Congress' ineptitude to hold rice or anyone in the administration responsible for anything. Poor condi to have to put up with freedom in the US.
It is true...Rice is a murderer with 1.2 million dead Iraqi's and countless Palestinians and many others. Go Code Pink!

The U.S. Congresses of the past 7 years have decided that a Tyrannical Democracy is better than a Constitutional Democracy.
The latest U.S. Congress has allowed the list of unknown terrorists to grow from 23,000 known Al Qaeda Members in 2001 to now over 900,000 on a list of suspected terrorists. Of course,those terrorists could be "Code Pink" demonstrators or anyone who questions the policies of Cheney/Bush.....
KBR, a subcontractor of Halliburton and accused of "Fraud" by the GAO, has been granted the contract to build "Detention Centers" (Over 350 million dollars) throughout the U.S. Watch out "Common Dreams and Code Pink"!!!!

Effective, creative- ohyah, a picture says a thousand words, and the image of those blood-red hands held above Rice's contrived, sinister demeanor will become super-famous- in 10,20, 50- 100 years from now, they'll be showing THAT pic when they mention Condoleeza Rice, because that's the part of history she helped create, it's WHO SHE IS!
No matter how many are killed Bush and Rice keep those stupid smiles on their faces.Bet impeachment and tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity would wipe the smile off--if only congress had the gut's to do their duty.
But Congress will apparently never do their job, which is to protect the Nation from such a blatant power imbalance- our country is bankrupt, our military strength diminished to such a degree that we will be in sorry shape should we be approached by any REAL threats. That's the Bush/Cheney/Rice legacy. They are smiling still because they are so very rich and powerful and feel immune to the bitter realities they helped create.
And I also sense in their creepy smiles their hideous thoughts: "We actually got away with it".

In 2001 they planned to turn the US into a third world nation and their plan has succeeded. Wealth in the US continues to be transferred from the 99% to the 1% at an ever incresing rate. They have succeeded despite low popularity ratings, so why would they care about future popularity ratings?
The neocons continue to be financially enriched beyond their wildest dreams and they don't care if they leave the US and most of its citizens bankrupt.
We as a people need to take back what has been taken from us. Its time to kindly escort the folks who have grown fat from ego and greed from there illisionary edifices of power. We start with the K Street Corridor which seethes with a glutinous stench of corporate fascists who have enslaved humanity since time immemorial. The next is the Federal Reserve-the bankers who have started many wars to increase profit and who have also enslaved us. The next are the finger puppets of the Whitehouse and Congress. They do the bidding of the puppet masters which I have already mentioned. Its time to be free. Its time for us to take charge of our inalienble rights. Its time to wake up.
I have abbroggated my parental rights to the state by sending my children to an institution that has taught them not to think but to not question authority and to be good consumers/wage slaves. I'm trying to repair what's been done. Its not easy.
We were also given a docuemnt that tells us what to do when unbridled power, ego and greed goes unchecked.

Maybe we all should be putting red dye (food coloring, maybe) on our hands as a gesture of what we think of this corrupt bunch of fascist thugs. And to think that so many Americans (and other freedom-loving peoples around the world) sacrificed so much during WWII to stop such heinous monsters.
A red hand would be a good reminder of what really goes on in 'our' goverment - maybe we should start using such a symbolic gesture so other people will know that they have friends who disagree with fascism.
As a traditional conservative, I am outraged that these neo-fascists have smeared our good name with their evil. They would have hung at Nuremberg - but today they just smirk at us, just as Hitler's henchmen once did. And petty political thugs are brought up on charges at the Hague - what a joke.
I'm going to look for that red dye today - the make-up people can tell us which ones are safe to use continuously - which is what we should do until freedom and democracy are restored in this battered world. After all, if we don't all hang together, we will surely all hang separately. We need a symbol of solidarity - anyone else have a better idea?
Imagine that, a republican that doesn't believe Americans should speak out against Bush's war crimes. All I can say is I hope we as a nation never have to endure the likes of Rice, Bush, Cheney, or for that matter, Jerry Lewis ever again!
How about a red ribbon armband? I've got one and I'm going to start wearing it today. I don't care what those thugs do to me - my life is over anyway, and it's the least I can do to give hope to others. Our children deserve better - our parents tried to make the world safe for us, but somewhere along the way, we dropped the ball. Maybe it's time to start taking responsiblity - and risks - because doing nothing hasn't worked. And we know elections here are a farce - as in any other dictatorship. What are they going to do - ban wearing an armband?

Lewis is my representative, and I use the term very loosely. This guy should be in jail. His very dear friend and campaign donor, defense contractor Brent Wilkes, just got sentenced to prison for bribing former Cal rep Duke Cunningham. Wilkes secured millions in federal defense contracts when Lewis chaired the Appropriations Committee. A few years ago, his chief of staff left his employ to become a lobbyist for people he came to know because they had business before the App Committee. After making mega millions as a lobbyist, he decides to return to Lewis' staff, turning over all his clients to his replacement in the lobbying firm, who happens to be HIS WIFE, so now his spouse can lobby him on behalf of his old clients. How sweet a deal is that? Lewis never met an earmark he didn't like, especially if there was a hefty campaign or PAC contribution attached. He is as crooked as the day is long, and his staff has turned lobbying his office into a very profitable cottage industry.
Write the US Attorney in Los Angeles and tell him to move the investigation of Lewis to the front burner...
Just because he's well liked in his district (because he brings it a fair share of earmarks, too,especially after wildfires) doesn't make him any less amoral, or criminal. He's an opportunist who has used his role on appropriations committees to enrich himself and his donors. I realize that this is peanuts compared to the travesties of BushChenCo, but we have to start somewhere. Duke Cunningham's case led us to Lewis...we can't let them drop the investigation or slow it because it's an election year. Lewis ought to be in an orange jumpsuit, not standing for re-election.
He may have been embarrassed for the committee, but it's Californians in his district who should be truly embarrased...for giving that man over 30 years to build his personal fortune at the expense of the people he's supposed to serve.
I had a dear friend who wore a black arm band every day for years after the Mai Lai massacre to protest the atrocity. He had no problem explaining to anyone who asked what it meant to him. He died with it on. I think a red arm band to protest the atrocities committed by the USA would be a potent symbol, or a red bracelet.
Look at her, she's happy to be considered a war criminal; she's got a big smile on her face. She's proud of it. A woman with no conscience.

You posted something very disturbing about throwing off our government. That is very subversive and I just wanted to let you know that you are in violation of the Homeland Security Regulation 01984 and the Patriot Act. You could be thrown in jail forever without even the right to see an attorney. You could end up being sent to Gitmo for posing a threat to the established order.
