In 2004 I talked to several dyed-in-the-wool republicans who had never voted dem in over 50 years of elections, but refused to vote for that lying SOB Bush. The author does raise some good points. Granted, Condolezza Rice is a despicable human being, one of many despicable human beings that have populated the Bush administration. But she is also articulate, quick-thinking and tough under pressure. I watched her testifying on several occasions and she is not easily rattled, nor does she fumble in the midst of a heated exchange. She could be a formidable VP candidate, providing the harder, tougher edge to the GOP ticket that seems to appeal to the Republican base.

The vision of a person like Condolezza Rice being just a myocardial infarction away from the presidency gives me the heebie jeebies.

A McCain/Rice ticket could very well beat a weak candidate like Hillary Clinton. I'm not so sure about Obama. If such a GOP ticket were to emerge, and if he continues to run his campaign as smartly as he has up to this point, my feeling is that he could hold his own.
