Hillary and the Race Card
Hillary Clinton's surrogates constantly remind us of Barack Obama's youthful cocaine use (which Obama himself wrote about to emphasize the power of redemption). Former President Bill Clinton said of Obama's Iraq war opposition, "Give me a break. This whole thing is the biggest fairy tale I've ever seen."
It is time to take a break to remember the fairy tales spun by the House of Clinton. It increasingly appears that Hillary is unable or unwilling to break from the racial patronization of Bill. In 1993, in the same Memphis church that Martin Luther King Jr. spoke from 25 years earlier, I noted that Clinton spoke as "if African-Americans had full run of the promised land in the last 25 years."
Clinton told the church, "We gave people the freedom to succeed." Clinton said King would have said, "You did a good job . . . letting people . . . live wherever they want to live, go wherever they want to go . . . without regard to race, if you work hard and play by the rules."
I wrote back then that in the broad context of the nation, no one "let" us do anything or "gave" us anything. Yes, African-Americans made progress and many white Americans aided in that progress, but it still came in the face of continued, documented redlining, workplace discrimination, and the decline of funding of public schools.
Bill Clinton hugely betrayed that progress by doing nothing as Draconian, and ultimately racist federal sentencing laws took full effect, punishing crack possession far more harshly than powdered-cocaine possession. Even though Americans use illegal drugs close to their racial percentage of the population, young black men made up the vast majority of those sentenced under crack laws. According to the Justice Policy Institute, the rate of black male imprisonment under Clinton grew from 2,800 per 100,000 to 3,620 per 100,000. As a result, 14 percent of black men lost the right to vote.
What was it that Bill Clinton said about "we gave people the freedom to succeed?"
Now, it appears that the House of Clinton, seeing that the race for the Democratic nomination is not an adoring coronation, is trickling with tricks that raise questions about how much she will toy with the race card and overplay the gender card. Her aides tried to peddle a kindergarten "essay" by Obama to mock his ambition to be president. She had to fire two volunteers in Iowa for peddling hoax e-mails about Obama being Muslim.
New Hampshire co-chairman Bill Shaheen had to resign for wondering aloud if Obama's self-revealing cocaine use made him unelectable. Even after Shaheen's departure, Clinton strategist Mark Penn claimed with crocodile words, "The issue related to cocaine use is not something that the campaign was in any way raising."
This weekend, a prominent black surrogate did Shaheen's dirty work. Robert Johnson, the shameless founder of Black Entertainment Network, the man who became a billionaire off grotesque, booty-shaking, thug-glorifying music videos, boasted at a Clinton rally in South Carolina how the House of Clinton is so "deeply and emotionally involved in black issues." He said they were involved while "Barack Obama was doing something in the neighborhood - and I won't say what he was doing, but he said it in the book."
Obama has not been without fault in the patronization game. He made a dumb move in the New Hampshire debates by telling Clinton, "you're likable enough" when Clinton was answering a question about her likability quotient. But this pales next to the steady drip, drip, drip of stereotyping from the Clinton camp of a lazy, drug-using, Muslim black man who believes in fairy tales. It also pales to the gender-card whining of Bill on Hillary's behalf, saying in the 11th hour in New Hampshire, "I can't make her younger, taller, male." You have not yet heard Obama surrogates moaning they can't make Obama older or female.
Hillary Clinton herself fanned the fumes of patronization when she reached clumsily for an analogy that appeared to link Obama and King to simplistic hopers and dreamers, while it took a white man, President Johnson, to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Up to now, the Democratic race has been a victorious story of Americans saying they found it hard to choose between Obama, Clinton, and John Edwards, with issues and personality mattering more than gender or race. Let us hope the candidates, particularly Hillary Clinton, remember that, before they divide the Democrats into a bitter, weakened bunch for November.

Show AllA CAPITALIST RIGHT-WINGER CRASHED INTO JOHN EDWARD'S DAUGTHER'S CAR
I think it was a capitalist, right winger who did that. even though it was a lady, it might have been a capitalist, bushist, right winger pro-war, anti-socialist american. That bumping and hitting people into rear ends at stop lights is a tactic that capitalists and fascists in USA use to intimidate people, but pray that a capitalist dont that to me, coz i will physically fight with them real hard

Breaking: Edwards' daughter hit by alleged drunk driver 14 Jan 2008 (NC) A alleged drunk driver crashed into a car driven by Cate Edwards in Chapel Hill on Friday afternoon. Cate Edwards is the older daughter of presidential candidate John Edwards (D). According to Chapel Hill Police investigators, Edwards was driving a 2007 Ford Sedan when she slowed down at a red light and was rear-ended by a woman driving a 1989 Toyota. Officials with the Edwards Campaign say Cate was not injured in the crash and calls the accident "minor".

Priceless.

More likely to throw votes to Obama--though it may earn the clintons more votes on the right--perhaps their natural base, it seems.
Will the bad Clinton soap opera ever end? Like sand through an hourglass, it just never ends.
The Clinton's must discourage young and first time voters from staying active in politics. Their plan is to so disgust these newcomers that they will turn away and leave only her corrupt and cynical supporters standing. They are the diriest politicians since Richard Nixon.
Kucinich needs help paying for the recount. It will cost close to $65,000. I just made my donation.

Evidence of fraud?: Paired Precinct Study of 2008 Democratic NH primary

The "R" word, Redskin, represents a bloody scalp. Scalping was introduced to the Indians by the Dutch.
Mr. Obama was recently reported as watching a Redskin's game. Isn't there a certain myopia about this behavior. Indians do recognize the "N" word as a racist word, but apparently African Americans do not recognize the "R" word as a racist word. I ask why?
Hillary Clinton has done nothing about the "R" word despite her power in Washington. There is currently a law suit against the Washington Redskins for the use of the word Redskins. Has Hillary Clinton done anything to remove the "R" word from the Washington Team? No!
John Edwards did nothing about the "R" word either.
There is enough overt racism in Washington to strongly support the idea that race is nothing more than a political tool.
This truism has existed at least since 1492, in the Western Hemisphere.
The Reed item I posted yesterday and Vern posted today provides many examples of Clinton's racism and contemporary and historic racism in the US.
As for Obama's religion, Muslims are required to put people first after God, not corproations both before and after God as is the case with Clinton and all the Republicans.
Furthermore, Clinton is no feminist either--Gloria Steinham be damned. Stripped to her basics, she's just another Corporatist, devoid of any soul or compassion in her true backstage self as opposed to the acting job she performs in public. Behavior, including voting record, rules the day.
It's too bad Obama called Clinton "likeable enough;" he should have remained silent and let her behavior speak.
This race is far from over. Obama by 9 in Iowa. Clinton by 2 in New Hampshire.
The best answer is Edwards. Paul Kraugman reiterates after reviewing all the candidate's economic packages — Edwards has the best economic package of all the candidates. Sorry folks I need to feed my family and it's getting harder and harder. This election is real basic to me. I need to feed, put a roof over their heads and be able to provide healthcare to my family. I still don't know what Obama brings to the table except that his healthcare is not quite there and is economic package is not quite there, etc. So I can't take a chance on him. He voted for the Patriot's Act, Edwards did not. Even though Edwards voted for the war he realized his mistake. Can't vote for Clinton (a former and cradle Republican) "the Clinton Dynasty." America needs to stay from dynasties. She's prowar, pro miliary industry, pro pharmaceutical companies, I bet my bottom dollar her vice president choice would be General Clark (a former Republican).
Bush is begging the Saudis to pump more oil instead of working for energy innovation and independence. Foreign nations are bailing out and buying out our banks instead of our taking steps toward developing a sustainable economy not based on buying junk. We're torching the environment instead of aggressively finding ways to change course.
If none of this is addressed, all races will be SOL.
Where is the debate on these issues?
They did a new census and found that 10% of the population of Winnipeg and 10% of the population of Regina are First Nations People (what you call American Indian). If a group makes up 10% of potential voters, it gives them a bit of clout.
What is the name of the Mayor and Congressperson(s) representing Washington DC? Seems as if the move has to come from the people of Washington DC themselves. Though, one can petition one's city, if it has a NFL team to boycott games against Washington DC until they change the name.
What is the National Congress of American Indians doing about this? It does seem to be under their mandate.
http://afn.ca/article.asp?id=53
Why isn't the National Congress of American Indians booking a couple of hours on PBS and inviting the Dems to a debate where these questions can be asked?
I don't think that calling the team "R" is appropriate, but I can also see the opposition to having the name change as being very formidable and well organized. Unless the grass roots are ready for a long fight, I can see the politicians leaving this issue alone.
I am amzed how Democrats miss the point that the same corporate oligarchy that funded BushCo is financing both Obama and Clinton while poll after poll show Edwards as the ONLY Dem candidate that would trash any Republican nominated. It is not a coincidence that Edwards is the candidate most feared by all corporate and power interests.
Maybe you do not hear much about this since the MSM pentagon lackeys are owned by those interests.
Sad state of affairs. And potentially dangerous in the long run.
We had better start spinning the race (Obama) and gender (Clinton) chatter as just what it is: CLUTTER FROM REPUBLICANS. Us real Democrats would be delighted to get either the black or the woman who is running.
Our critics are planting the divisive notion we can't make up our mind (because of our prejudices) and should therefore elect the white man from the GOP. And they are blaming the flaps on guess who? Obama and Clinton, of course. A nuance here. A nuance there. "Look, they're playing race and gender cards on each other."
It's pretty low stuff.
Yes, the United States is in serious trouble and it will only get worse. Rumors are circulating that John McCain (R-Bomb Iran) will pick Joe Leiberman (I-Tel Aviv) as his running mate in 2008. In the immortal words of Josef Stalin: "The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything."
Be very afraid.
I agree with curmudgeon99. Edwards in the polls when it comes to running against Republicans wins hands down. Why are Americans so stupid? As a Black Westpoint graduate/lawyer once told me: Our country will go down in history as the largest brainwashing events ever to have happened in World History. People don't know what's good for them and they are taking the rest of us down with them.
Alex Jones and his followers are a bit racist too. and bring up racial issues in their talks, for example im listenting to a member of "We Are Change" (a 9-11 truth movement) which claims that FOX channel and US government is attacking "white people", they think that "poor white caucasians" are real oppressed in this country, and wanna play victims, haha.
When in truth we all know that US government and FOX channel attacks blacks, muslims, mexicans and poor white american homeless people the most and harshest.
when we all know that blacks, muslims, mexicans and poor white homeless americans are the ones who need more attention and love in this country since they are the ones suffering the most this evil juggernaut war machine of plundering and exploitation against the people of this world
I have never met a white person in the US who was NOT racist.
Let's get real here.
White folks murdered about 100 million of us natives here on Turtle Island.
A leopard doe not change its spots, and bears DO shit in the woods.
And this is only a precursor to what the Rovian meatgrinder will have in store for whichever, Hillary or Obama, takes the nomination.
Edwards is still the best of the media-designated top three, but the corporate news media hasn't "chosen" him. And, he keeps reminding Americans how poor they've become under the corporatocracy that we've become.
And, Kucinich is fighting for the right to SPEAK in the NV debate at the GE-owned media outlet MSNBC. His message, if presented openly, is the best--out of Iraq now, impeach those who are clearly guilty of "high crimes and misdemeanors," and single-payer healthcare---getting the insurance companies out of the healthcare profit game.###
Anyone see the race card the Obama camp is playing. There's an article from an Obama support ... Larry O'Donnell or something like that, over on Huffington Post ... which could be renamed the Obama post for its constant sucking up to the Obama campaign, which basically accuses John Edwards of being a racist for not withdrawing from the race. They basically call John Edwards, a southern racist for staying in the race and blocking Obama from winning.
So, you've got the Obama camp playing a disgusting race card of its own. And you've got Hillary doing the old female trick of turning on the tear faucets at a critical time.
Welcome to the disgusting swamp that is the Democratic Party. You should leave it to the monsters that live in that swamp.
"Hillary Clinton herself fanned the fumes of patronization when she reached clumsily for an analogy that appeared to link Obama and King to simplistic hopers and dreamers, while it took a white man, President Johnson, to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1964."
Finally, a column pointing out the most patronizing of Hillary's positions. The point is *any* president would have been hard-pressed to not help enact the Civil Rights Act, due to the grass-roots movement of which, Dr. King was at the forefront.
Hillary needs to get her head out of the silly "me-first, most-experienced, me-the-doer" paradigm. There are many Americans who are qualified to be president and will do a "good job." The point is, and has always been, that a person becomes president because the *people* want him (her?) to be so, and not because of the person's qualifications.
This is what we should expect from Hilary. She will go back on her words. She has proven herself here at the Michigan Primaries: "Had Clinton not gone back on her word, this whole 'debacle' never would have occurred," Schuttler says. "But instead she decided to remain on the ballot to secure herself a potential default victory. Because of this, supporters of other Democratic candidates were left with no option on the ballot." While an unabashed Obama supporter, Schuttler is a staunch Democrat whose ire over those he feels are culpable prompted him to act.
"Governor Granholm is partially to blame for this fiasco," Schuttler says. "Notice that the day after Hillary said she would remain on Michigan's ballot, Granholm endorsed her. She claims this is because Hillary, by staying on the ballot, is supporting Michigan's causes. But if this is so true, why hasn't Hillary visited Michigan since the primary season began?"
The fact that there is still a 'race card' is reason enough to burn the whole damned deck.
Don't expect a rational response to your post, centrallylocated. Moonraven lives under an old bridge somewhere, gnawing on old bones. She logs on from time to time to sew the seeds of her discontent. Don't fall for it.
Moonraven, WOW! You've never met a white person in the US who wasn't racist? Where exactly do you spend your time? Or maybe its just that you dont spend enough time talking to people under the age of 60. Young racists in this country are only that because of their parents, the idea that any child understands that the name 'Redskins' is racist is simply ridiculous. Furthermore, words only carry the power that we give them.
Im not saying a racist element still doesnt exist in this country... just as anti-semitism still rages strong, so does the good ol'boy, redneck, hang a nig from a tree ideology. However the reality of today is that those holding that ideology are in an increasingly shrinking minority. The further that it becomes from the mainstream, and the more we are able to illuminate as a ridiculous anachronism, the better off this country will be.
How about the candidates raising real issues, will we be
subjected to more of the Abortion, Lesbian, Homosexual
Diversions again? How about what has happened to our
economy? How about the Carlyle Group wheeling and dealing our country away? {A Bush family corporation..}
It's up to the press to force the issue..
Obama, Clinton and Edwards=> tweedledee, tweedledum and tweedledim.
There's more to talk about than racial issues-what about the fact that approximately 2/3 of the world's population-comprising all racial types- are treated inhumanely by a northern ruling elite (comprised of all racial types)? These unfortunate 2/3s are relegated to the stinking cargo holds of the planet to eke out a living; meanwhile we on this site and other of its ilk-truthout.org, alternet. org, etc., play trivial pursuit.
Can anybody explain to me what was wrong with Obama's remark: you are likeable enough? I have not seen him make it, so I cannot weigh in the circumstances, but from just these words I would suggest he was merely trying to be gentlemanlike - and of course hoping to gain from being so, but that is how the game is played.
atruepatriot,
A little correction, for the record. John Edwards DID vote for the original Patriot Act in 2001. The ONLY senator not voting for it was Russ Feingold of Wisconsin. Representative Dennis Kucinich DID NOT vote for it either. He has consistently stood up to the Bush Regime from day one.
Kucinich THINKS before he votes. Edwards got caught up in the jingoism of the planned U.S. version of the Reichstag fire. At least he did realize he made the mistake of jointly pulling the trigger for the coward-in-chief in invading an innocent country.
Once the bullet leaves the chamber, it's too late to apologize.
The problem isn't that Hillary is a racist. She clearly isn't. The problem is that she is a shameless opportunist, a dirty fighter who will betray any principle or any friend, embrace any scoundrel, accept money from any crook, tell any lie and obscure any position to get elected. She's at least as polarizing as George W. Bush, and a vote for her is a vote for triangulation, realpolitik, hawkish foreign policy, gridlock, partisan bickering, incessant scandals and the same sort of Machiavellianism that has brought this country so low already.
"What is the National Congress of American Indians doing about this? It does seem to be under their mandate."
Vaudree, the NCAI's Ron Allen and the AFN's Phil Fontaine are status quo Indians. You cannot look for change from them. As in everything else, change will come from the bottom up. The two of them are, in my opinion, front men for the establishment.
If anyone is running for either the Republican or Democratic party then they are aware of just what kind of criminal organization that they are applying for a job with and they are as guilty as that human defecation Dick Cheney, because by their participation they are perpetuating the mass murder for profit that the U.S. government is always involved in.
As a previous poster noted, it is extremely amusing that the junior Bush scumbag is over in Saudi Arabia pleading and whimpering for a reduction in oil prices. Those proud Arab tribes just love it when the people who used to lord it over them have to come crawling on their bellies. The whole world has reason to hate the U.S. and one thing you can now be sure of is that after Bush's snivelling and pleading for relief that all of the U.S.'s enemies, even those they think are their friends, are going to take a lot of pleasure watching the U.S. collapse and get flushed down the toilet.
History may be taking some drastic turns in the near future, but it is still going to be as entertaining as hell to see that despotic U.S.A. come to it's bitter and deserved end.
Who says Hillary isn't a racist? The Clintons have a long run of racist acts during Presidential campaigns stretching back to 1992. Heck, Bill hustled back to Ark at one point to oversee the execution of a young black man to prove his 'independence' from the black vote and that he's 'tough on crime'. I can't think of much more racist than killing someone to make a political point.
And you've got the whole bits of them dumping Jocyeln Elders and Lani Guinier (probably mis-spelled both names) over the side at the first opportunity.
Other than some occaisional nice sounding words to black folk and about racism, I can't think of many ACTIONS the Clintons have taken that would tel me that they aren't racist. Not much really stands out from the Clinton years as what they did to improve things in this country. We had a 'jobless recovery' that hit the lower classes hard. And they did damn little to help inner city areas during their time in the White House.
Other than making a nice sounding speach occaisionally, what is there that you can point to that the Clintons have really DONE about race?
"Hillary Clinton herself fanned the fumes of patronization when she reached clumsily for an analogy"
She's a well educated career lawyer and politician. Words are her tools and her weapons that she's wielded with great skill for decades now. So I'm now supposed to believe she was 'clumsy' with them? Yeah, right.
Its pretty clear that moonravens racist comments about 'white people' is the most racist thing on this board.
Who is that idiot COMarc? Anyone who doesn't know that there is endemic racism in the U.S. doesn't know shit from roses.
Frankly I'm no great Hillary fan, though I would vote for her if that was the only choice against McCain or Guliani.
Hell, I'd vote for Wile E. Coyote if he was the only choice against McCain or Guliani.
However, in all fairness to Hillary, all of this race crap started when Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson... (two guys who make their living by seeing racism around every corner), jumped on Hillary's comment about LBJ and the Civil Rights Act as being a racist remark.
Once that happened, the reporters went into a feeding frenzy and only wanted to ask questions of the candidates and their staff ABOUT racism.
Unfortunately, the candidates and their backers jumped into the trap with vigor.
I don't care what Sharpton and Jackson, or some of the less worldly people in this forum have to say about racism... I think racism is practically dead in this country when a state that is 95% white votes for Obama, and a black gravedigger on "Survivor" is given $100,000 by the mostly white audience because he was voted the most popular player of the season.
Actually, I think some of the biggest "racists" are the people who think they see racism all around them.
Sure, SOME people still dislike, distrust or fear blacks, Mexicans, Jews, Indians, Greeks, Muslims, lawyers and car salesmen...
...but over all I believe that anyone who works hard, gets an education, dresses well and speaks decent English can be ANYTHING they want to be in America today.
Even President.
Cool! All we have to do is spray some Armani on us and we're electable! It doesn't matter what kind of scumbag assholes we are as long as we have the right suit and perfume! Yaahoo! We won! Fuck the good people and their morals, we don't need any of that bullshit, we can do whatever we like! Those stupid little people, they can never keep us down, let them eat cake!
"...in all fairness to Hillary..."
No, provoice, please do not try to make Jackson and Sharpton the scapegoats for an obvious and deliberate whisper campaign on the part of the Clinton machine. It is also interesting to note that the corporate media--who have their candidate in Hillary, is spinning this as a united effort between Hillary-Obama to play down the issue of race rather than laying blame and accountability where it belongs:
The Clinton machine's pattern of race baiting.
If there was no racism, the true denial fairy tale, then why would unethical politicians use it seeking advantage? The only reason the Clintons backed off is because they were called out on it and the damage was already done--they had planted the seed of doubt.
some perspective from Rev. Shockley
http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/20080114_one_giant_leap_for_america/
Are we so easily manipulated?
Either this article is a sincere effort from a fool or it is an agendised bit of garbage to further divide the democratic voters from their sanity.
How one can use partisan politics to blatantly twist the intent of those he doesnt support while overlooking the flaws and foibles of the candidate he supports is amazing to me.
What on earth has happened to the American voter? When did we all become brain donors? The only way democracy can flourish is when the electorate sticks to legitimate issues. Judge the candidates on voting records and their history of public service. Extoll the merits of the one you support and leave the hatchet jobs to the GOP infiltrators who see how gullible and naive we are and attempt to take full advantage.
Geez, did you take everything out of context and make up your own fairy tale.Obama may have been against invading Iraq before he became Senator, but he voted for all the funding bills and actually said he agreed with the Bush policy. The fairy tale is his positioning himself as the anti-war candidate. References to MLK were about his civil rights actions becoming law by a lawmaker. Making up our minds as to what candidate would be the best to clean up the huge mess left by Bush is our challenge. I think actions speak louder than words. And frankly if Obama is the candidate, Republicans will not be so polite as to his openly written about past.
Here's your answer, ardee:
http://www.livescience.com/strangenews/060124_political_decisions.html
The statement Clinton made about King was a declaration that it took a President to make the Civil Rights Law a reality. The reality was that that president wouldn't have budged had there not been a mass movement in opposition to segregation. There had been dozens of presidents for dozens of years of segregation who did nothing. But when King and the SCLC raised up a Civil Rights movement, the president Clinton referred to had to move or risk a mass campaign of civil disobedience- and possibly civil war. That's what Clinton dismissed. And it's typical that a Clinton liberal or a "democrat" would miss that understanding.
Clinton and Obama should be dismissed as far as I'm concerned.
It's funny whenever someone mentions Hillary's name. Profanity spews out of my mouth. I believe she's given Turret's Syndrome.
moonraven, I suspect you are prejudiced in your own mind towards all us white folk. And I've changed my mind after reading this string of messages. Edwards should be our nominee for the Democratic Presidential race. The one thing that sticks in my mind is that he DID NOT vote for the patriot's act. That act is an insult to freedom. Apparently, he is smart enough to understand vodoo legislation when he sees itl.
Do a little research Vern... Hillary never said that the Civil Rights Movement had nothing to do with Johnson's decision to push for the Civil Rights Act... in fact anyone who lived through that era will remember that the Supreme Court upheld segregation of the Southern schools and Johnson sent the military to help enforce that segregation, while AT THE SAME TIME pushing for the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
King couldn't pass legislation, and it's a cinch that people like Lester Maddox, George Wallace, Robert Byrd and others in Congress were fighting against the Civil Rights Act. Johnson got it through.
FURTHER, if you look back in the Press archives for the FIRST people to take Hillary's comment out of context and attack her for it were Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.
The Press then jumped on the bandwagon with glee and for the next five days made virtually every question asked of Hillary and Obama and their supporters about RACE!
Neither Hillary or Obama originally said anything derogatory about race until Sharpton and Jackson waved their red flags to get Press attention for themselves.
Centrallylocated:
Where do you people come from???? Another fucking planet?????
I live in Mexico--have done so since 15 years ago.
I am a 63 year old Native American, so don't come at me with the over-60 bullshit.
I also just returned 3 days ago from a week in Gringolandia--and it was more racist than ever.
And more insane, just like you.
I repeat: I have never met a white person who was not racist.
itstheclaw,
For the record, John Edwards DID vote for the 'Patriot Act' in Nov. 2001. In the U.S. Senate, the ONLY senator who voted AGAINST it was Russell Feingold of Wisconsin.
moonraven,
With respect to your anger, we were complimenting your writing and your reporting skills a few months ago, specifically on one of my "non-white" heros, Hugo Chavez and the achievments he has made for his people.
Have you met all the white people in the world? I think not. I could be wrong, but I think the majority of us blogging on CD are white, and I'm not trying to sound elite, but most of our anger is against 'the white guys and gals' in D.C. and the corporate boardroom "whites" who direct them.
All working-class folks are in this together. Don't fall for the divide and conquer trap.
As a Native American, I reject out of hand your assumption that it is necessary to meet all white people to make the statement I made.
I have met plenty of white people in my 63 years on this planet--more than a representative sample, in fact.
And don't condescend to me--or to Hugo Chavez either.
Typical white superiority complex.
And you're too unconscious to even see it.
moonraven,
I'm sorry if I offended you with my condescending answer. Hugo Chavez is one my heros, whether you like it or not. I could care less what race or color he is, you are, I am, or anybody else on this planet, for God's sake. I'm interested in what they do to you, me, and everybody else on this planet. But what do I know? I'm just another somnambulist unconscious of what I say or write.
Perhaps you have a chip on your shoulder. May you find peace and harmony.
