Now here we go with Jane Harman's "Thought Crimes" legislation that SAILED through the House and is now in the Senate. They will probably pass it this week and Bush will sign it into law.

I fear you are right...It seems that nothing short of a full scale uprising and rebellion will stop this madness. And, how likely is the needed Revolution? Not....As was posited in a previous post, the "serfs" have been brainwashed, minds dulled by the droning assurances that overconsumption will lead to happiness. And they are too busy just trying to survive, running on the hamster wheel that powers the corporate business machine of the monopolistic robber barons with their oligopoly octopus arms.

I think you are right about Pelosi....I have thought about the really tough position she is in....So, yes,...it IS up to us. I've done a bit of writing letters, but as you all know, their form letters are the reply and the message is NO.

It has been my experience since I was a kid that birds especially can be messengers of coming significant events. It happens rarely for me, and when it happens I'm not looking for it, but it's always accompanied by a distinct gut feeling. In the spirit of this thread, I'd love to see a particularly belligerent bluejay let's say, being chased away by a gang of little house sparrows signifying Bush's impending impeachment. I believe it would do the nation much good for "the reckoning". I don't hate W, but I despise just about everything he has done since holding office. Glad will be the day when he flies the coup along with the rest of the birds of his feather.

by taking impeachment off the table SHE gave George W. Bush immunity not only for previous impeachable offences and current an on going impeachable offences but also for future impeachable offences.

Just what in the hell does George W. have on her from those warrantless NSA intercepts before 9/11/2001 that the Congress now seeks to immunize against prosecution (hell if he had shoplifted a candy bar they'd take him to court).

I think every Congressman that votes immunity for this GANG deserves to be thrown out of office whether they are Republcan or Republicans claiming to be Democrats.

1. Contribute to Dennis Kucinich's campaign (see the web site listed above in "drift's" post). Contribute $25 or $50 and get a pocket copy of the Constitution like Dennis carries around with him everywhere. Once you receive your copy in the mail, carry it with you everywhere you go.

2. Read your Constitution. You can find it online, you can find it in any old Civics text book, you can find it in books at the library - just go find it and for heaven's sake, READ IT.

3. Make copies of the Constitution and pass it out to people and tell them to READ IT as well. It's shocking how many people in this country are utterly ignorant of what is contained in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. That kind of outright ignorance is what has led to our current situation with the Bush administration. These guys are no dummies - they know that most people don't know, and worse, don't care - about what Constitutional rights they have, and they have taken advantage of that ignorance to subvert the law of the land.

Remember, KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. The more people see how badly their rights have been trampled, the angrier they are likely to get. Talk up the Constitution. Post copies of it on public bulletin boards (laundromats, grocery stores, coffee houses - anywhere there's a public bulletin board available). Talk to your neighbors, talk to your friends, talk to people at church, talk to kids, talk to college students, talk to teachers and professors, spread the word: The Constitution is alive and well and is the LAW OF THE LAND. And we MUST take it back. We can start with a Million Patriot March.

And if it takes a revolution to do so, well, so be it. "Bring it on!"

We have done so much since the re-election of Bush and Co. since Nov., 2004. We the people of this country have shown our outrage against the re-election of this man and his administration. We have shown our outrage of the lies and deceits. The impeachment polls and petitions are chocked FULL of our intent.

We had another election in Nov. of 2006 -- need we say more? Who's hands is it in really? Does this country actually need a revolution to gets its message across? Will someone just come right out and say it!

I'm for the march. I've participated before prior to the invasion of Iraq, but there simply were not enough (about 8-10 thousand) of us to matter. The question is indeed, how can we get the thing organized? I'm at a loss in that realm, but I'll pitch in as best I can. Heck, I'll even quit my lousy job if necessary in order to go! LETS DO IT.

I very much like the idea of a Million Patriot March. Can we please make that a reality? Who's going to organise it? Let's not just talk about it, let's DO it. There's less than a year left until the next Presidential election and if we don't make our voices heard LOUD AND CLEAR that we demand truth and justice and the immediate impeachment of this criminal administration, then all we've succeeded in doing is sitting here in front of our computer screens in our pajamas sipping coffee and talking about doing something instead of ACTING.

So.....let's start the planning process for the Million Patriot March. Now. Can we get someone, a group like United for Peace and Justice or CODEPINK to get behind it and organise it? Or can we CD'er's somehow band together and plan it? Let's make sure that we get at least a million, if not more, participants. It'll be hard for anyone to ignore over a million angry citizens descending on Washington demanding our country back, believe me.

So what are we waiting for, anyway? Let's get to work!

I would love nothing more than to see impeachment proceedings against the cabal in power in D.C.. But, alas, I tend to align with those here who have no such hope, and also those who feel that we as a nation have already gone too far to stop the momentum of our runaway corprotocracy. I hand-wrote a letter to W in the late summer of '02 and told him that I strongly felt he was about to lead the nation down a dark and terrible path with his rhetoric concerning Iraq. That same autumn, I looked out my living room window and saw a mourning dove on a limb of a tall pine in our yard. For a brief moment, I felt a sense of peace as I always did when a dove visited our little haven. Just then, a red-tailed hawk (an otherwise beautiful creature)landed in the same tree about 6 feet above the dove. I have literally seen a hawk eat a dove for lunch in winter and this dove froze like a rock. Shortly the hawk flew away. But in that moment, I knew in my gut the hawks in D.C. would rise to ascendancy and we would go to war with Iraq. But the dove survived this close encounter. I think we are in for a very dark night of the soul as a nation. I think we all sense that. It is scary, as it is when an individual suffers the same in his/her personal life. But "the darkest hour is just before dawn". That is my hope, not just for we Americans, but for the world and ALL its inhabitants. May we all find strength and light in the forgotten depths of our hearts as this terrible time worsens. The dawn WILL come, and the dove of PEACE will survive. I'm not saying we do nothing in the meantime. But we'd best prepare ourselves for an ordeal that will be difficult for all.

I share your disgust and anger and your plan to vote 3rd party next Nov.
I am keeping that option open myself... It is good to keep em guessing.
Impeachment anytime before than is maybe more important than who is the next prez.
That is because once the impeachment starts.. there can be no pardon period and that could start even in the last days of these criminals.

We are all tilting at windmills, but we still have a little hope and the good fight win or lose is good for our soul.

So I am glad you want to vote 3rd party at this point it shows you are angry and Care.
I just would like you to please consider that you could help the impeachment process by a little clever infiltration here and register Dem and in the beginning of next year vote for Dennis, (Mr Impeachment).... That way you will be helping us and then 8 months or so later you can vote whoever 3rd party or for yourself.

When else will we ever have a chance to vote for impeachment ourselves... Please consider to vote Dennis, the War Machines' Menace.... and you won't have to vote for a Dem in the main election at all, and you will still help the impeachment process. Please, pretty please.... You will make me very happy and we need your vote.

I will have to agree with Dreamertoo wholeheartedly! Even though I want to see these two impeached in the worst way. I think we can expect worse in the future if something isn't done to curb the grab for power. She is caught up in a terrible situation. It would be a catastrophe for Pelosi to support impeachment. The Right wing pundit's would have a field day with it. There would be no end to their mud slinging. No doubt, the biggest causality in the war would be Pelosi. One has to look at the big picture here and use their brain. Instead of letting their passions run wild. The American people need to start demanding impeachment. As much as I admire people of conviction like Kucinich, his plea on the House floor to begin impeachment proceedings will get nowhere. Asking our elected officials who are so deeply enmeshed in everything that's wrong about how politics should work in this country is fruitless. Winning the high office in 2008 is way more important to the Democratic Party leadership than bringing justice back for the American people. The Democratic controlled Congress has turned its back on the electorate that got them there, cowering to presidential wishes and threats of vetos while accepting big corporate money to run their machine. Where's our national single payer not-for-profit healthcare? Where's the end to the occupation of Iraq? Where's the end to NAFTA, the WTO, or GATT? Where's the end to tax cuts for the filthy rich? Where's the protection of Social Security? Where's the real checks and balances in choosing Attorney Generals? Where's the end to the Patriot Act and the restoration of our liberties? WHERE'S THE REAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY? The one of vision. The one that led the fight for unions. The one that protected our elderly, our homeless, our mistreated. The one that stood for human dignity and social justice. The one that stood for peace. Has the "real" Democratic Party dissolved into the likeness of a man called Kucinich? The party leadership is like Nero fiddling away while everything that needs to be addressed goes unanswered. They are a disgrace. Kucinich needs to break away from such a deceptive group.
Justice will come not from the halls of Congress but by the people themselves. Our voices must be heard in the voting booth in 2008.

We can't expect impeachment to happen. Why do we continue to talk about it as if it's some distant reality? Aint gonna happen folks! Were not in Kansas anymore! Why Impeachment is an absolute must!

If people anywhere are allowed to keep breaking and or ignoring the laws of the land, the laws become meaningless. It permeates through all levels of society, and we end up with a lawless society. The moral fabric that governs all human beings begins to evaporate. The result is a society and a world in complete disarray. Every citizen, must demand justice, and the laws that exist must be applied too everyone equally. Those in power must not be allowed to bend and abuse them for their own personal gains. Corporations have no moral fiber other than to profit for themselves, and gain power, no matter the cost. Corporations do not deserve the rights of human beings. Its time to take America back from the lying, stealing,and most improtantly EVIL creatures who are directing her course. Our constitution must once again become the law of the land, Those who have illegally subverted the constitution, should stand trial in an open and public forum, from a Special Prosecutor, not a hand picked minion, in the once supreme court. Write your congresssman and tell them impeach now, or forever loose my vote, If we all do that, they will act.

Impeachment is off the table for one reason and one reason only: As soon as impeachment begins, the Official fairy tale about 911 will fall and when that happens, few in Congress will survive the next election and they know it.

Remember eugenics, the forced sterilization of the bottom ten percent of the population. In theory, by continuing to sterilize the bottom ten percent the result would be an ideal Nordic population. Maybe you're right that each congressman like D.K. operates in a vacume completely unafected by the party machine that put him into office and the big money interest that allows his bills to go to the floor.... maybe he naively votes his gut without checking to see if he's about to step into a Battle at Little Big Horn....

But I really doubt it. Conspiracy? No. No. It's just part of normal Potomic two-step business. Contract with America? Well it dorked me so hard I still can't walk straight. Democrats in Congress? We'll have ourselves a grand investigation, says Henry Waxman; and then nothing happens. "Just elect me!" cries Polosi, "and then Bush is going to pay." And then? Nothing happens. Why wasn't Bush impeached years ago?

That fact that we now have a laundry list of negatives is staggering to my mind. He should have been impeached long ago and this is why he will get away with it - has gotten away. This administration failed to protect American soil resulting in the 9/11 attacks; they played upon white anglo-saxon prejudices and force-fed the public countless boogie-man stories to justify the invasion of Iraq and the insane occupation of that country; they have failed to bring the 9/11 culprits to justice; they have attacked the poor and middle-classes at home through spending cuts to the social safety net and yet, like the legions that supported Hitler and his Nazi party too many people are not only willing to allow these circumstances to continue, but also encourage them.

Pelosi never needed to advocate impeachment, she just needed to not actively block it which is exactly what she did when she publicly stated that "impeachment is off the table".

Then not long after that she and her hubby attended a private dinner at the invitation of George Bush and Laura at the White House. Anyone who thinks there isn't a bunch of rot in Washington needs to take off their blinders.

As John Nichols says ("The Genius of Impeachment) it does not even require an impeachment "victory" to matter. It brings the issue to center stage, shines light where it is needed, and in the case of legitimate impeachments, suddenly elevates the party moving forward into relevance. The democrats could finally be about something! And we'd begin to hope we might get our Democracy and Constitution back.

I think Bill Clinton testified because there was a provision at the time for a special prosecutor. This provision may have expired? All congress would have to do is operationally define the case and turn it over to a special prosecutor to see if there is merit for a proceeding.

Impeachment or no impeachment, there is one undisputable fact: this country is going broke. The damage already has been done, and it is a matter of time for everything else to play out. Even if you impeach Bush and Cheney, the damage already has been done, and in fact, may be irreversible. Thanks to a complicit Congress, we already may have passed the point of no return. The fact of the matter as we all know it, is these crooks needed to be ousted years ago. The system already is well entrenched and unlikely to change unless someone places dynamite at the foundation to bring the whole corrupt structure down. Does anyone know why Bill Clinton testified under oath in the first place? Why did he not refuse to go under oath as Bush and Cheny have done and just thumb their noses at Congress and the people and tell them to go to H_____? Surely the same executive privilege was available to him as was to Bush. Just wondering why the difference.

If the USA is to join the rest of the world it had better kick out of office all the Republicans and most of the Democrats and form a new party. The whole election process needs to be changed where money has no corrupting influence. The FCC, as a part of the granting of a licence should demand free advertising for everybody regardless of their supposed poll numbers.

Impeaching Bush and Cheney now is like taking an eye out of a potato when the whole potato is rotten. The root cause of most of the problems now facing the USA cannot and will not be cured by an " election " under the present arrangements, it will just change the names of the criminals.

Ted Rall raised an important point in his column last week. He pointed out that the entire Bush Presidency is illegitimate because the U.S. Supreme Court did not have jurisdiction to intervene in the State's Rights issue of the Florida state election of Electoral College delegates in 2000.

I am mystified why no one seems to understand that Nancy Pelosi is in a terrible place to be advocating for impeachment. If both Bush and Cheney are impeached and forced to leave office, Pelosi would be elevated to the Presidency. If Pelosi breathed one word in favor of impeachment, the Republicans would howl that she was moving to take over the country through the back door, any impeachment proceedings would become hopelessly gridlocked, and a possible backlash would ensue. In my opinion, she has acted absolutely appropriately to this point.

We, the people, need to FORCE impeachment proceedings by raising the loudest ruckus seen in this country since the 60's. Your comments strike me as conspiracy theory out of control. DK, as you refer to Kucinich, is not a plant. He is the only Democrat in Congress who has the courage to formally propose impeachment. Your assertion that he is part of some Democratic cabal is absurd. Most of his positions run counter to those of the Democratic establishment. He didn't need Pelosi's permission to introduce articles. He did that solo. I'm sure she actually quite peeved he's done so. He is fighting within the only party of a two party system that is not a criminal organization. Cindy Sheehan is looking to contest Pelosi's seat because she too realizes that the only way to fight the Democratic status quo is from within.

Now would be good and make them pay restitution for war profiteering and raiding the U.S. Treasury and the American people. Also they should do community service for the poor, aged, and children with no healthcare that have survived their brutal policies.

This is the silliest article I've ever read on Common Dreams. What kind of drugs is the author on? The vote not to table was a parliamentary trick to make sure that it would never again meet the public eye. Who asked about Conyers and what has he done wrong? Conyers is the worst of them all, he alone has the power to put the impeachment bill on the floor for a Congressional vote and he illegally refuses to do it. He's the traior Cindy handed the petitions to and was arrested for legally doing the duty we should all be doing.

Besides which, even if by some miracle it was decided that impeachment will go forward, it will take the better part of a year - or more - before it could even begin to proceed, by which time a new administration will either have been elected or inaugurated, rendering the entire impeachment process moot.

So, another reason it's not going to happen now. Too late. They dithered too long and blew it for all of us. Had they begun working on this a year ago after mid-term elections, we might have stood a chance of seeing these people impeached, but now it's too late. The best we can hope for is some kind of reckoning after they've all retired to their ranchettes, and by then, they'll be immune to prosecution anyway.

That, friends, is the sad reality of this whole affair. And that's why no impeachments will be forthcoming, as much as we'd all like to see it happen. Blame Dems for sitting on their hands and not working harder to bring allies from across the aisle to bolster their numbers and assure a better chance of succeeding in beginning the process of impeachment.

In short, too late. Too late. What a crying shame. Future administrations will take this as permission to become unitary executives and to use signing statements to break the law and subvert the Constitution and the will of the people. It will take impeaching future administrations to restore the Constitution. BushCo won't suffer the ignomany of being hauled before an impeachment hearing. They know this, and they know that they have set the stage for a possible impeachment of a future Democratic administration who will want to use the same tools that BushCo put in place.

And oh, they just can't wait to see the day that it happens to reclaim their power. They'll all point and say, "Told you so! You want us back because these guys screwed up!" And people will be stupid enough to vote these people back into office again, because they'll make sure that there's some calamity that assures their return to power and they'll use fear like a hammer to say, "See, Democrats are soft on terrorism! We'll protect you, just you wait and see!"

And of course, they'll find a way to maneuver themselves back into power again. They aren't going to go away THAT easily, trust me. They may make it look like they're all retiring to their ranchettes, but they'll be busy crafting their return somehow. Remember, K Street still exists. Sure, they got rid of DeLay and Abramoff, but don't count them out yet. Grover Nordquist is still out there with his devious power-mad schemes. Be afraid, be very afraid of Nordquist. This is the guy, after all, who wanted to reduce the government to the size of where he could drown it in the bathtub, and that speaks volumes. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him. He's the one you all should be afraid of. I suspect that he and Rove are busy plotting something evil and devious.

So much Lighted, guided energy and sense, issuing from the man Kucinich.
So much of what he says is very 'right', and sane and sound.

Against him stand the united forces of darkness: the 'Puss-edential' team of depraved harlots and brigands, (which include the dire mess media).

Who will win out, and how? -The demented 'Goliath', ~ or a heroic 'David'?

Will America rise to the occasion, and get shot of the nest of scorpions at the helm? or will they again succumb to the evil will of the ruinous muck at the top?

America stands at a crossroads; the world holds it's breath, waiting and hoping that she will choose more wisely this time round.
The game is not lost, hope is not lost, and the fight between darkness and Light is very far from over.

Yes, there are many things we cannot easily shift and fix overnight, but what *we* have, that the Gray House villains don't, -is humanity's *massed intent* on our side, - which at root is a wish to live in peaceful co-existence with our fellow beings.

I've written to Pelosi, Conyers, Hoyer, Emmanuel, my own Congressmen, and others, that an avalanche of Presidential pardons will soon derail further investigations and end hopes of accountability. Since only impeachment is immune to such pardons, IMPEACH NOW, or forever admit complicity in subversion of the Constitution and profiteers' war-crimes. The evidence is vast and multi-leveled, but could be an order of magnitude greater if not for the contempt of Congressional subpoenas, "lost" e-mails, and all-round stonewalling, impeachable themselves! Other important legislation, even if heroic efforts get a veto-proof vote, are subject to yet another un-Constitutional signing statement! Is Congress afraid of this administration? Justifiably, considering what happened to Max Cleland, Cynthia McKinney, Tom Daschle, the Governor of Alabama, and the CEO of Qwest (and perhaps Paul Wellstone and the anthrax attacks), but the nation, the Constitution, and the world need us to live up to being the "home of the brave." Please honor the oath to defend the Constitution.

The impeachment process will go as far as is necessary to get re-elected, not one bit farther. So on the one hand it will do no good to call Congress and appeal to their duty, their oath, or their sense of justice. It WILL help if you can put them at fear of losing an election. I suggest that those who make contributions withhold them until their congress person actively supports impeachment.

I have heard the argument that "we don't really know what the intent was of the Founding Fathers," or that the Constitution is "unclear" as to how to respond to the actions of a power-hungry president.

Did Bush's pardoning of one of his staff (in order to protect himself) merit impeachment? Here is a quote from Federalist Paper #69 ( http://www.constitution.org/fed/federa69.htm ) positing a what-if scenario - how an overly empowered state governor could use pardons to protect his own conspiracy versus how a President SHOULD be prevented from doing so:

Impeachment is the remedy - make that the ultimate safety valve - to unchecked executive power. The exact situation that W and Cheney have created was foreseen over two hundred years ago. That is why impeachment is written directly into the Constitution. A corrupt and/or power hungry President, destructive battles between political parties ("factions"), gradual suspension of liberties during time of war, excess influence by wealthy interests - all these scenarios and more were anticipated (see Federalist Papers #10, 48, 51, etc). For these reasons, our Founding Fathers also put in place the checks and balances as well as ultimate remedies to all the problems we now face.

But our Democrats lack the courage to do what is needed. I have gone past anger and depression for what has happened to our country. I am heartbroken.

Nothing else will work for impeachment to take place. Forget the Constitution, it has been nullified by these criminals in office, and is no longer relevant. There is plenty of immunity and pardons to go around anyway, so we can relax and forget about it.

I doubt that impeachment will even go forward at this stage of the game. Dems have made it clear that it's "off the table", no matter what anybody else says. No one's got the cojones to go forward with it, because we all remember the faux-impeachment of Clinton because he got it on with an intern. So, like, "whoop-de-freakin'-do!", no one died. So he was unfaithful to his wife. So what else is new? We all know that Kennedy wasn't exactly a saint when it came to matters of women. OK, maybe he was more discreet about it than Clinton, but still, many Presidents have had extra-marital affairs while in office and no one said word one about it.

We all know what was up with that ridiculous impeachment of Clinton - the Republicans had just taken over Congress for the first time in decades and were "feeling their oats" and decided to show some muscle and go on a witch hunt as the first plank in their planned "permanent Republican Majority" plan. Don't think Karl Rove had something to do with that? Think again - what's he been doing all along but playing dirty tricks, right? I sense that this was his first foray into subterfuge on a national level. His fingerprints are all over that one.

So, see, Dems know now that it pretty much became apparent what a joke the impeachment of Clinton was, but they also know how badly it cost the Republicans in the short term. Gingrich fell from power as did those around him, and politicos all ran scared as a result knowing that they could be next. Everyone waited for the other shoe to drop, and it did with the stolen election of 2000 that put Bush in power. And Bush is no Republican, either. He's some kind of weird radical extremist that has even *real* Republicans seeing red for his profligate spending and expansion of the government, which are as anti-conservative as you can get.

What this all boils down to is this: the use of impeachment as a corrective tool was forever ruined by the Clinton debacle. It's now seen by most politicos as a means of exercising some kind of vendetta against the opposition, a partisan witch hunt, if you will. You can blame Gingrich & Co. for their subversion of that as a real corrective tool to restore balance to the three branches of government: executive, legislative and judicial. At no time did Clinton overstep his powers and declare himself to be a unitary president like Bush has. At no time did Clinton ever practically declare himself above the law and an imperial ruler. Those are reasons for impeachment, but no one wants to admit that there are real Constitutional reasons for using it to correct the abuses of power that we are seeing now. Rather, people have grown gun-shy of it for fear of appearing too much like Gingrich & Co. and using it to consolidate power for one political party.

So, kiss any chances of impeachment goodbye. Not gonna happen, no matter how much so many of us want it. We can scream at our legislators until we're blue in the face, but they're Beltway insiders and not given to taking risky measures like impeaching the administration this late in the game. They're going to think of nothing else but their own re-election campaigns, and that, my friends, is the sad reality of it all. They don't want to risk losing their cushy seats in the Senate or Congress and all the perks that go along with it. They don't represent you and I. They represent the special interests, the corporations, Big Money, whoever can buy influence, and most of us don't have the bucks to buy it and grease a few palms along the way.

Look how long we've all called for impeachment. Think they're going to do it NOW, this close to the end of the BushCo reign? Nonsense. If they were going to do it at all, they'd've done so already. The list of crimes that this administration has committed is longer than my arm. And that's just in the first term! The second term crimes list is probably longer than my height. No, impeachment is something we can all dream about happening, but all of us here know darn well that there's no one with enough courage to give it the big push and make it happen sooner rather than later. The longer they wait, the less likely it's bound to happen. So....forget it. And count down the days on your calendars until 1/20/09 and hope that Kucinich wins the election, but I'm not counting on it. The MainStream Media has already made up its collective minds that it's going to be yet another Clinton, continuing the Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton dynasty. And if Hillary somehow wins two terms, that will mean 28 years of rule by two families in the White House. That's just wrong.

Let's hope I'm wrong about all this, but I'm also a hardened realist who knows how things work. The People don't elect the President. The media and the Electoral College elect a President. That's no democracy. If we'd had real Democracy, Gore would have been inaugurated President in 2000 instead of the Supreme Court making the decision who won it, and that's illegal anyway, because it's not within their purview to decide such things. So we basically have an administration that was illegal from the get-go and has remained so ever since. But no one's willing to take corrective measures to restore our Constitution. Meaning, right now, we're not a true democracy. We're not a country of the people, by the people, for the people, and haven't been for some time now. It's all just so sad.

CMEDWARDS. You say MOST of the articles of impeachment are not things the Vice President is responsible for. Well, if he took the resposiblity upon himself, he's responsible.

BTW, Which of the charges do you feel he is NOT repnsible for, and which do you believe he IS, as you state __ MOST? ___If he has committed any of them, he should not be, __ he MUST be impeached, according to our law of the land, which is NOT negotiable without a vote of OUR congress. I see Ms. Pelosi's statement about keeping impeachment off the table as prophetic:

There are two reasons why impeachment is so important and necessary; first to erase and remove all remnant of usurpation and transfer of power from the judiciary and legislative branches to the executive. This should stop the possibility of the continued excesses of power by future administrations. The founding fathers designed impeachment to counter an out of control executive branch.
Secondly, Mr. Cheney, the brain behind the throne, who has systematically undermined our constitution, ignored our laws and seriously damaged our democracy, must be held accountable. His reckless lies, half truths and deception have taken us to an unjust and unnecessary war that has caused the death of 3866 Americans, drained our treasury and has brought our economy to the brink of bankruptcy.

Rather curious that Ms Pelosi would "take impeachment" off the table and limit her legislative powers. By doing so she has undermined the Constitution and allowed a rogue executive branch to continue menacing the world. It makes one wonder if she was bribed or blackmailed. Did she jump, or was she pushed?

Indeed, there was another shining moment courtesy of Dennis Kucinich, provided during the April 26 Democratic "debate" on MSNBC. When Brian Williams asked the field of candidates whether any of them support Kucinich's move to impeach Dick Cheney, no one raised so much as an eyebrow. In response, Dennis removed from his jacket a pocket copy of the U.S. Constitution and reaffirmed his oath of office to defend it, and to take Cheney to task for violating it.

That was the bowtie on what has become the giant cowpie of televised Democratic debates.

The key words are, "according to our Constitution". That is the document which Bush stated was just a G-damn piece of paper, then has gone about proving he is correct on at least one of his comments.

The key to the mandatory impeachment process is not Pelosi, regardless what she said about it. The key is Conyers. He is the one who is in violation of the supreme law of our land and NO ONE is challenging him with the available legal process.

what i found astounding is the blanket over news coverage of kucinich's efforts on nov. 6. i had to work the polls that day, so when i came home late that night i went online looking for news of the day's activities. nothing anywhere but here.

IMHO- The administration that is in power is part of a radical shift that intends TO demolish our system. All of the key players studied at Columbia under Strauss. A Machiavellian professor who believed in the philosopher king mentality. The unwashed masses are not fit to decide what our government says or does, in their opinions.

Starting under Reagan, the removal of social nets for the mentally ill, the poor, college grants for the underpriveledged, union power.

I think that many (perhaps not all) of our elected officials have been given glimpses into their new roles as our lords and nobles....and they like it.

The printing press allowed knowledge to become widespread and we crawled out from under their control. The dumbing down of our populations has made a comeback though.
