What 'Safe' Cluster Bombs Do In Lebanon
Tyre, Lebanon - The explosion ripped through the tiny garden in rural south Lebanon, hurling Naemah Ghazi to the ground. The shrapnel from the bomb sliced through her legs, and she rapidly lost consciousness. "There was a lot of blood," her mother Khadija recalls. "All her body was bleeding."
Naemah, 48, lived quietly with her mother in the border town Blida since her father passed away nearly 30 years ago. She was still a teenager when she gave up a future of marriage and kids to take care of her mother full time.
On the morning of Sep. 11, Naemah was out picking vegetables for the evening meal when the bomb -- an Israeli-made M85 cluster munition with a 'self-destruct' mechanism, buried a mere ten metres from her back door -- exploded under her feet.
Naemah was rushed to Sidon's Labib Medical Centre two hours drive away. The doctors amputated her right leg just below the knee, but saved the other within a construct of metal rods.
A month later, Naemah is still in hospital; small and frail on her white metal bed. She is on painkillers and antibiotics, and has become depressed, says hospital supervisor, Shadi Hanouni. The wounds on her left leg are infected, and nurses change her dressings every five hours.
Blida is a small and poor town. Most residents rely on tobacco and olive harvests, and money sent by relatives abroad to keep financially afloat. Occupied until 2000 by Israel and its local proxy army, the SLA, it was one of the first targets for cluster munition strikes last summer.
Cluster bombs in Blida have injured town leader Suleiman Majdi, and Naemah's six-year-old nephew Abbas Yousef Abbas, along with three other children he was playing with. All have survived, but barely -- Majdi and Abbas bear deep scars across their stomachs and limbs.
Lebanon has a devastating cluster bomb problem. Hit hard during the final days of last summer's conflict with Israel, hundreds of thousands of unexploded munitions are strewn throughout the south's rural towns and fertile fields and valleys. Although there have been 255 civilian and de-mining casualties to date, official requests for Israel's cluster bomb strike data have gone unanswered.
"The reality of the situation is we simply don't know how many there are, and we will never know until the Israelis tell us how many they fired," says Chris Clark, the United Nations programme manager for the Mine Action Coordination Centre (MACC), the official body tasked with coordinating munitions clearance with the Lebanese Army in the south.
So far the clearance teams working under the MACC have destroyed over 131,000 cluster bombs. While U.S. munitions manufactured in the 1970s and 1980s are the majority found and destroyed, Israeli M85 cluster munition strikes have been discovered mostly in fields and towns like Blida along the Blue Line, the UN demarcated border between Israel and Lebanon.
Stockpiled by the U.S., Britain and Germany among others, the M85 cluster bomb is shaped like a miniature tin can with a white ribbon on top that spins to load the bomb once it's airborne. While older versions have a single fuse, the current model is equipped with a second; a 'safety' fuse that detonates automatically if the initial one fails.
"For some years there has been a humanitarian concern about the post-conflict problems caused by the use of cluster bombs -- it goes back to Kosovo and the use of them there," says Clark. "In an attempt to mitigate that, the Israelis took the basic nucleus of the (U.S.-made) M77 and M42 design, smartened it up a bit and added a self-destruct mechanism."
Its manufacturers cite the contemporary M85's failure rate at less than one percent -- results that countries like Britain hold up for justifying their continued use. However, independent studies since conducted in 'real' -- as opposed to laboratory -- conditions have determined the figure to be more like 5 to 10 percent.
Clark seconds this finding. "What we have established here (in Lebanon) is that the average failure rate is at least 6 percent. So for the users of this system to continue to use them on a basis that they have a negligible failure rate is clearly foolish."
The push to ban cluster munitions worldwide by 2008 was kicked off in Oslo earlier this year. Spearheaded by the Britain-based Cluster Munition Coalition representing hundreds of civil society groups, the conferences have successfully recruited 80 countries -- including producers, users and stockpilers -- to sign on so far.
But top weapons manufacturers and exporters -- the U.S., China and Russia -- are staying away, and Britain, although a participant, is fighting hard for the exclusion of the M85 from the ban. "They've been arguing this for several months now," says Thomas Nash, coordinator for the CMC. "Although it is proven they do not work, and are a huge danger to the civilian population."
With the next meeting due this December in Vienna, tobacco and olive harvesters in Blida, and throughout the south of Lebanon, continue to harvest their crops in fear. "Blida was the place where the first civilians were injured," says Nash when told about Naemah. "The symmetry post-conflict is just tragic."

Show AllLet Bush ride his bike through those fields. Also Hillary. Maybe they will awaken to the horrors of war. Diplomacy, you idiots. And be prepared to give a little. Any good agreement should be beneficial to both sides. But do these idiots ever listen? No.
This is a story about Israeli use of WMD in their attack on Lebanon. The Israeli aggression was repulsed, reparations have not been made, Israel is at fault.
Personally I have decided to boycott Israel and anything emanating from that state until such time when it is seen to be a responsible member of the world community and not the pariah state which it is.
What about the "right to exist?", more dog shit rhetoric from the IDF.
Israel's military - the lowest of the low if you ask me.
I hope all of those that created that kind of chaos have the opportunity to reincarnate as a victim of one of your actions.
Cluster munitions are going to be a continued problem for many years but it is just one additional problem facing any country that has had a war fought on it's land. In Europe farmers are still digging up unexploded shells from WWI. Soon there will be only a few countries that have areas in which the land is safe to use.
The only way to stop these events is to stop the wars and stop the illegal bombings, and hold the countries that start these illegal wars and weapon manafactures legally responsible.
A coworker of mine was back to visit his brother in Lebanon shortly after this had settled down and had inquired about not seeing a boy that he knew lived at the farm adjacent to theirs in the first 2 days he was there. He found out that the boy (5 or 6 by his memory) had found what he thought was a shiny silver ball and picked it up to play with.
The boy's uncle who owned the farm had seen him and shouted at him to put it down. The boy had dropped it and it went off. Apparently there wasn't even anything recognizable to bury.
This is where they should have given Bus a "walking tour" on his recent visit to Lebanon. Yes, Israel did everything they could to destroy Lebanon but the US knew, approved and supplied these horrific weapons.
When I read an article like this, I still think of that IDF and Right Wing Likudist media personality 'Mark Regef' denying and refuting every accusation; Then retaliating with stony adherence to the canard and calumny, that Israel are the real victims [sic]...
And I continue to be sickened to the core that the REAL victims being the Lebanese civilians, they have no access to the same MSM to defend themselves or present the real nature of their disadvantaged plight..And as for the Bu$hCo's historical complicity in these War Crimes, enough has already been said..
May a similar fate befall the issue of those that design and manufacture these crimes against humanity. Bad Karma!
Israel is one racist, despicable little country.
IDF = Israeli Death Force
I remember my Navy deployments in the Med years ago. I went ashore to Israel once. ONCE. And never again, will I step foot in that shithole!!!!!!!
Coffeelover,,,,,,
Pardon me posting this: But a related issue of America exporting horror from the land of the 'free'; not dissimilar to exporting cluster munitions to shitty little Israel...
"Outsourcing Torture":
The extraordinary-rendition program, which sees the United States kidnap and detain terrorist suspects in secret prisons around the world, fits neatly with the Egyptian regime's contempt for due process. Those rounded up by American or Egyptian security agents are never granted legal rights. The abductors are often hooded or masked. If the captors are American the suspects are spirited onto a Gulfstream V jet registered to a series of dummy American corporations, such as Bayard Foreign Marketing of Portland, Ore., and whisked to Egypt or perhaps Morocco or Jordan. When these suspects arrive in Cairo they vanish into black holes as swiftly as dissident Egyptians. It is the same dirty and seamless process.
We have nothing to say to Mubarak. He is us. The general intelligence directorate in Lazoughli and in Mulhaq al-Mazra prison in Cairo allegedly holds many of our own detained and "disappeared." The more savage the torture techniques of the Mubarak regime the faster the prisoners we smuggle into Egypt from Afghanistan and Iraq are broken down. The screams of Egyptians, Iraqis, Pakistanis and Afghans mingle in these prison cells to condemn us all....
The United States has subsidized Egypt's armed forces with over $38 billion in aid. Egypt receives about $2 billion annually—$1.3 billion in foreign military financing and about $815 million in economic and support fund assistance—making it the second largest regular recipient of conventional U.S. military and economic aid, after Israel..
We have nothing left to say to the Mubarak regime. The torture practiced in Egypt is the torture we employ for our own ends. The cries that rise up from these fetid cells in Egypt condemn not only the Mubarak dictatorship but the moral rot that has beset the American state.
We are losing the war in Iraq. We are an isolated and reviled nation. We are pitiless to others weaker than ourselves. We have lost sight of our democratic ideals. Thucydides wrote of Athens' expanding empire and how this empire led it to become a tyrant abroad and then a tyrant at home. The tyranny Athens imposed on others, it finally imposed on itself. If we do not confront our hubris and the lies we tell to justify the killing and mask the destruction carried out in our name in Iraq, if we do not grasp the moral corrosiveness of empire and occupation, if we continue to allow force and violence to be our primary form of communication, if we do not remove from power our flag-waving, cross-bearing versions of the Taliban, the despotism we empower abroad will become the despotism we soon experience at home.
Simon is right! We like to think of ourselves as decent, humane people, and perhaps as individuals we are. But the US is the world's largest producer and deployer of cluster munitions, supporter and armorer to abusive regimes, and has killed a million Iraqis and left over 4 million homeless to get at the oil under their feet. People say we should "support the troops", but at Nuremburg we held that following unlawful orders was itself a crime. All the preachers and "Christians" whose jingoism got us into this mess still go to church on Sunday to worship their "prince of peace", but we are the biggest economic, environmental and human rights criminals on earth.
Everybody points to the horror, but nobody will correctly identify the cause of this suffering: It's not bombs, it's not guns, It's Religion! This bloodbath is not about just a battle for land and ethinc differences, it's about who controls that crappy little temple mount in Jereuselm.
I say we take out the temple mount. It'll stay radioactive for hundreds of years and anybody kissing the wailing wall can just kiss themselves goodbye.
Nothing else is going to foster peace with these grown men who insist in believing in fairy tales and that they are "God's Chosen."
What rot!
There is no God. If there is, then he's sure not interested in this little planet!
If we are going to save this planet, I have to believe that "God" doesn't respect those who can't control their own environment. We may very well deserve to go extinct since we can't quit worshiping this blasted god of Mars (WAR)
Pacplyer: Funny that you should mention the Roman diety Mars...because the Judeo-Christian 'God' is the debased decendant of the BABYLONIAN war god Jehova, better known to the Hebrews as YHVH.
So that you would have the decendant and worlds most successful death cult fighting over a squalid scrap of desert barely capable of supporting life, I for one find ironicly amusing.
Maybe climate change will raise the oceans enough to cover some of the cluster bombs. Either that or the now cluster bomb areas might become uninhabitable.
Next thing you know the neocons will be saying this. After all they claim to build the economy by exporting jobs while running a massive trade deficit.
As an International Volunteer Doctor working in S Lebanon, I can attest to the horrors of the cluster bombs that Israel dumped on S Lebanon for the 2 days leading up to the ceasefire. They knew the ceasefire was imminent and this was their way to further punish the innocent civilians. talk about Genocide, what could be more factual. The leaders of Israel should be charged with murder of civilians and WarCrimes. The whole illegal state of Israel should be declared a terrorist state since it is this rogue state that has caused the instability in the Middle East for over 50 years. Of course, nothing will ever be done nor will Israel ever be held accountable so long as the war Criminals in Washington continue to support these terrorists while at the same time condemning other countries of human rights violations.
The USA Plus Israel= death and destruction of innocent people.
Israel deliberately did this. The monsters. Incidentaly, ive had an interesting exchange at WW4Report, a socalled left wing site, that has banned my comments, over my defence of Ahmadinejad and criticism of zionism. Beware Bil Weinberg:

Despite the ignorant blather of his brainless liberal apologists that Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is "not a 'Holocaust denier'" but merely calls for more research into whether it happened (gee, thanks for raising this subtle distinction), BBC Monitoring notes an Oct. 5 radio address by His Excellency, delivered in Tehran during Friday payers—part of a series of state-sponsored rallies for "Al-Quds Day"—in which he shows his hand pretty blatantly:
The nation of Iran...condemns any concocting of pretexts, fabrications or setting the grounds for genocide against the nation of Palestine. My dearest ones, we want to help these people. After the Second World War, they created a scenario called 'pogrom against Jews'. All over Europe and the countries under Western rule, an anti-Jewish movement has been concocted. The climate of propaganda and psychological warfare on the one hand and on the other hand using the issue of ovens burning human beings, they have created, concocted a myth of deprivation and innocence for the Jews of Europe. They use this pretext of the innocence of Jews and the suffering of some Jews during the Second World War. Riding on the crest of a wave of anti-Jewish sentiments, they have laid the foundations for the Zionist regime. Of course, afterwards they used the issue of the killings of the Jews after World War II and they called it holocaust. They have turned it into a holy issue and put it above all sacred values in the world... How is it that a phenomenon, which has come about after the war and named holocaust in 1975, has been turned into such a holy issue that no one is allowed to question it?
Ahmadinejad called for the formation of a "truth-finding commission" and called on Western states to "allow the black box of the World War II be opened." The BBC headline of the transcript has him calling the Holocaust an "Infallible Fabrication." While that verbatim does not actually appear in the text (perhaps edited out, or missed by the transcribers), it is clearly the thrust of his remarks. If Ahmadinejad leaves just enough ambiguity for wiggle-room here, he has (as we recently said of idiot-leftist Diana Johnstone re. the Bosnia genocide) stayed out of the outright-denial camp only through the most narrow and slippery use of deniability.
The quote is certainly far more incriminating than Ahmadinejad's more guarded words at Columbia University last month, which were touted by the idiot-left organ Workers World Sept. 27 to let their hero off the hook:
Ahmadinejad and Iran have been accused of denying the Holocaust happened and of trying to build nuclear weapons... Asked his position on the Holocaust, Ahmadinejad did not deny it happened, but questioned what had happened to the Middle East since then in its name. "It happened in Europe. The Palestinian people had no role to play in it... Why is it that the Palestinians must pay the price, innocent Palestinians?" he asked. "For 5 million refugees to remain displaced or refugees abroad for 60 years—is this not a crime? Is asking about these things a crime by itself?"
The Oct. 5 broadcast also included the helpful suggestion the "vast land of Canada and Alaska can be used to resettle the Jews"—remarks picked up by the Jerusalem Post Oct. 5. Right, lets make the Inuit the new Palestinians. Good thinking there, Mahmoud.
Meanwhile, here in the Land of the Free, Jewish groups are fortunately expressing outrage (CBS, Oct. 12) over professional oil-war hawk and liar Ann Coulter's comments Oct. 8 on Donny Deutsch's CNBC show "The Big Idea" that Jews have to be "perfected" by becoming Christians. Here's the offending text:
Deutsch asked Coulter: "If you had your way ... and your dreams, which are genuine, came true ... what would this country look like?"
"It would look like New York City during the [2004] Republican National Convention," Coulter said. "In fact, that's what I think heaven is going to look like."
In her recollection of the convention, she said: "People were happy. They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America."
"It would be better if we were all Christian?" Deutsch asked.
"Yes," she said.
Later, Deutsch returned to the subject, saying: "(Y)ou said we should throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians."
"Yes," she replied.
When pressed by Deutsch regarding whether she wanted to be like "the head of Iran" and "wipe Israel off the Earth," Coulter stated: "No, we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say. ... That's what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws."
After a commercial break, Deutsch said that "Ann said she wanted to explain her last comment," and asked her, "So you don't think that was offensive?"
Coulter responded: "No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be. I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to live up to all the laws. What Christians believe -- this is just a statement of what the New Testament is -- is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament."
Coulter later said: "We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all."
Very refreshing to the see the anti-Semitism of the far right out in the open for a change. The worst thing about all this incessant malarky about how the US invaded Iraq not to seize the world's most strategic oil reserves but because a bunch of wiley Jews have seized control of the foreign policy apparatus is that many Jews actually believe it. Jews are notoriously paranoid, but we think they have plenty of reason to be. As we've said before, far more insidious is the phenomenon of Jewish "pronoia"—the illusion that the imperial power structure will protect real Jewish interests when push comes to shove.
Wake up, brothers.
See our last posts on Iran, anti-Semitism and the idiot left.

"Brian" posted two more responses, which we deleted. Or rules are modest, but he violated three of them. So we'll take this opportunity to outline once again our minimum standards for approving comments. The three standards "Brian" failed to meet are:
1. You can be as vituperative and condescending as you like (we enjoy rough-housing too), but refrain from overt ethnic slurs.
2. Be reasonably concise. If your post is three times as long as the one you are responding to, you are probably going ongepotchket. (Yes, ongepotchket. Look it up.)
3. Be reasonably literate. If you can't take the time to be grammatical, capitalize proper nouns and spell out simple words like "you," what you are writing probably isn't very worthwhile.
Have fun, folks.

well, thanks Bill for showing me you area gatekeeper... defending the masses against dangerous dissenting opinion,
I will be posting your article and the replies around the internet, to warn people that WW4report is a bogus left wing site. Its nice to see you expose yourself so honestly to the whole world...
Your three standards are risible! Esp nos 2 and 3.
as for num 1 'ethnic slur' is a euphemism for any criticism of israel.
What your standards miss are journalistic honesty...Youve just shown WW4report has none.
I think my friends here at Common Dreams are being a little tough on Israel and the US for bombing civilians living in apartment houses in Lebanon.
I mean what is the big deal?
I have information from a reliable source that my dear friend Condi Rice is on the case and promises to have a solution to the Palestinian problem very soon.
Any day now.
Hey, it has only been six and a half years since boy George took office, do you guys expect miracles overnight?
Like my dear friend the compassionate conservatives representative and courtier Condi has said of the violence and destruction waged against innocent people in Lebanon, the pain and suffering they are experiencing from cluster bombing is simply:
"the birth pangs of a new Middle East".
Get real my friends this is now the new American Empire and we have no time to grieve over a few lost limbs in the fight to help Israel get its biblical land back and have the oil flow freely.
Reich foreign minister Rice is now in the Middle East to see if Israel needs to replenish some of its spent cluster bombs and to also speak with some of those annoying Palestinians.
Lets not be unpatriotic and say disparaging things about our officials when they are in the midst of important negotiations with Israel and filling orders for the American munitions manufacturers.
Please point out to all of her fans that Hilary supports the use of these weapons designed to kill civilians.

~ We can be sure that the immutable laws of Karma, (unlike human justice) are perfectly matched to each transgression of *divine advice*.
Karma isn't like a 'punishment handed down from on high' -but is more akin to *volunteering* (before each incarnation) to either receive awards gained, or endure (in conjunction with advice from our Guides or Higher Selves) what would most help us to learn and repay, the next time we incarnate.

My first thought when reading about the vile cluster bombs injuring the poor people of Lebanon was to vision these not in their material form, but instead I saw them as clusters of HATRED, dropped by *hating* people, - onto the *objects* of their hatred: – their fellow human beings.
People who don't know may confuse the religious notions and dodgy concepts of 'God', with the actuality.
–Not wise! Religions are *man-made* constructs, but God is not. We are *his* constructs! And it's important to remember that this 'God' being (-call her what you will!) is 100% LOVE. So, on that basis, there is now, and has never been, a war based solely on God's loving instructions for us to go out and rip the ears off our brothers and sisters!
~ Wars only ever arise from human failings and weaknesses: Greed, fear, megalomania, zealotry, insanity, evil-will, pride, and invariably separative *hatred*, are at the root of our failure to relate properly, ~ a.k.a.: Warfare.
And this is exemplified in each act of warfare.
The cluster bombs were dropped *hatefully*, and SPITEFULLY on fellow human beings, there was no *Love or Light* involved, and thus those who ordered these dark and obscene actions will, without a shadow of doubt, have to repay every last drop of blood spilt ,,, and that, in many cases, will be the harsh labor of many 1,000s of lives (incarnations) to come, and not a happy life among them.
This isn't a 'punishment', it's simply putting right the outcome of certain peoples' insane choices.
In the article at: http://www.landmineaction.org/resources/ActionPacks/m85_factsheet.pdf
it states: "In the statement announcing the UK's decision to withdraw the BL755 and the M26 cluster munitions the Secretary of State for Defence, Des Browne stated:
"The types of cluster munitions that we intend to retain are legitimate weapons with significant military value, which as a result of mitigating features, is not outweighed by humanitarian factors."
Huh! When that nitwit's Maker decreed, 'Thou shalt not kill' he did NOT *legitimize* these obscene weapons!
"DPICM with self destruct mechanisms are produced or stockpiled by the following countries: Argentina, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Poland, Romania, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, UK and USA. "
... now that's a LOT of crummy Karma being won by those uncouth barbarians who make use of these diabolical forces of hatred.
The facts are:
The *designers and testers* of these hate bombs are culpable.
The *arms salesmen* (and women) of these hate bombs are culpable.
The *politicians* who buy these atrocious hate bombs are culpable.
The *military* who discharge these hate bombs are culpable.
The *countries* who use these hate bombs are culpable.
~So that's a lot of payback, for an awful lot of people lined up.
And yet... it could all be so easily avoided. We only have to choose PEACE for ourselves ~ and our fellow beings, and all of that mess will never occur.
Maybe humanity's loving / wise Teachers had a point after all?

Here's a salutary snippet from: http://www.stopclustermunitions.org/info.asp?c=16&id=18
"Tiny Hajir is being hailed by doctors and health workers as the miracle baby of the Iraq war. Her mother, 32 year-old Suad Abbas Hassun, was nearly nine months pregnant when steel fragments from an American cluster bomb tore at her womb and destroyed her right leg, leading to amputation and an emergency caesarian section. Though the lives of she and her baby were saved by surgeons at Hilla Hospital, they remain in fragile condition. Having only recently emerged from a coma, Suad is unaware that the attack also killed her 10 year-old son, her 38 year-old brother, and her 8 year-old niece.
Her 3 nephews aged 12, 16, and 17 are seriously wounded. Baby Hajir is under the care of her 68 year-old grandmother, who must also look after the cows on the family farm.
"Ahmad, 15 and Inas 17, lost their mother when a cluster bomb struck their home, leaving their eleven year-old brother Hasin blind, and Karwar, their 18 year old brother and breadwinner, handicapped forever.
The conditions in the hospitals during the war caused the children to suffer permanent burn damage, with a high risk of developing skin cancer.
"Ahmad doesn't play with his friends anymore, embarrassed by his wounds, and Inas's dream of having a husband and family in the future is a far off dream.
"In an interview with the L.A. Weekly, journalist Evan Wright, author of "Generation Kill", made the following observation of the cluster munition use he witnessed while "embedded" on a U.S. Marine Humvee:
"The indiscriminate bombing I saw was a bomb here and there from a lone F16. Everyone thinks of indiscriminate bombing as from airplanes. It's the (...) artillery.
The Marines in particular were using so much artillery that I have no idea what kind of killing we did.
"I tried to do little estimates with Nasiriyah. We were dropping these DPICM's [dual-purpose improved conventional munitions] with cluster munitions. One round has between 60 and 90 rounds, and 15 percent of those don't blow up until a kid picks it up later on and steps on it or plays with it because they're brightly colored.
I went back and I interviewed the artillery units and asked them how many rounds they fired on the city? It turns out we dropped 10,000 of those on one little city. It's appalling."
+++++++++++++++++++++++
Give peace, ~ and Love, and Light, and tolerance, and understanding, and forgiveness, and disarmament a chance.
It's really worth it.
xx
Ehud Olmert is a war criminal! If Israel doesn't disarm and pave the way for a Palestinian state, there will always be conflict there.
Remember after 9/11, we asked ourselves, "why do they hate us?" Then not a second later we said, "lets kick their a##!" What Israel, an arms ally with the U.S., does to its neighbors, the Arab population, is horrendous, and this is just another example of a humanitarian crisis that never had to happen in the first place.
If the U.S. and other backers of Israel would be more aggressive in their reactions to Israeli violence there might be some progress. As it is, the Israeli miliatary is allowed to do pretty much what it wants within certain boundaries, but those limits are far too wide and free. Attacking Lebanon was criminal, and in a better world, the Israeli leadership would be tried for committing murder, yeah I know dream on. I understand that there are Arabs who hate them, but what did the majority of Lebanese citizens do to Israel? Nothing, and yet so many civilian areas were targeted for destruction by the Israeli military, that is not only disgusting, but criminal, and those who ordered this attack should be tried for murder. It is amazing to me that money can make some people's consceince's blank, as in the making of these munitions, along with DU weapons. As usual, it is the innocent who suffer for absolutley no good reason at all. What goes around comes around, and Israel might get a rude awakening someday for its callous and indifferent treatment of some of its neighbours.
