Tell the Damn Truth Already
Lately I've been wondering what might have happened if President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney had just told the truth.
Not so much about 9/11, although it would have helped if they'd offered a few reasons why they thought Osama bin Laden was behind the attacks. America has its share of enemies, so a little hard proof would have gone a long way.
And it would have helped if Bush had clearly explained our "special relationship" with the Saudis, and how for more than 60 years we've been shoring up a dictatorship in exchange for some control over our oil supplies. In the light of the fact that 15 hijackers came from there, I mean.
And not about the war in Afghanistan, either. If you were sipping the Kool-Aid at that point, you thought we were going into Afghanistan to capture Osama. But it wouldn't have hurt to explain why we failed.
Mostly, I'm thinking about the mess in Iraq. What if Bush and Cheney had leveled with us from the beginning?
"My fellow Americans," they would have said, "Saddam Hussein hates our guts. He has tons and tons of oil. The world's oil resources are dwindling and the competition is fierce. Our economy would collapse if oil went up to, say, $120 a barrel. Now, how many American lives would you spend to get our good American hands on that good Iraqi oil? Oh, and by the way, Saddam Hussein's an evil man."
Not only would industry get behind an immediate attack, but I'm guessing those patriots at NASCAR and almost everyone else in the country who drives a car would jump on that bandwagon. "One thousand lives, 10,000?" they would say. "How many lives did we give up in Vietnam for nothing? Fifty-five thousand? We could go 55, and I'll see you 60."
Those of us against war would still be howling in protest. But at least we'd know what we were really protesting against. And unless we're driving horse-drawn buggies, it would have to give us pause.
It would be refreshing to hear the truth every now and then, instead of one lie after another - first it's weapons of mass destruction, then we want to bring democracy to Iraq, then we have to stop a civil war, and now we're afraid of the chaos we would leave behind. Who knows what half-assed rationale they'll think of next?
Iran, too, would benefit from a good dose of honesty. How about something along the lines of, "Ahmadinejad has missiles, he's a little bit loopy in the head, and he's sitting on the Straits of Hormuz. He could stop two-thirds of the world's oil supply just by blockading the straits. Let's give him a little taste up front of what he might be in for if he screws with our supply chain."
The American people would probably go, "Hell, yeah!" Not because we hate the Iranians. (Who doesn't feel sorry for the Iranians? Their president is about as dumb, ill-informed and misspoken as ours is.) And not because of Israel, and certainly not because nine years down the road (according to the best estimates) Ahmadinejad might have nuclear weapons. But because we want to keep that oil flowing into our economic pipeline.
America has been swallowed by a tidal wave of lies, and it's not just a Bush thing.
Take the drug wars, for example. Drugs are bad. Drugs are evil. Nonsense. Drugs are great. They feel great. They do all sorts of interesting things to your body and your mind. For a while. And then they take everything you have, including your soul, and then they take your life. Why don't we teach our young people the truth?
Or sex. Right now, our tax dollars are paying for television ads that say, "Successful people wait to have sex until they're married." God help us, you only have to look at presidential candidates to know that isn't true.
And don't get me started about food. If you think you need a "fourth meal" when you're already so obese you have to pay for two seats on the bus, or that a calzone needs to weigh over a pound, or that endless pasta drowning in sauce is healthy - well, you deserve what you get.
Lying has become endemic in this country, and it's not because, to paraphrase Jack Nicholson in "A Few Good Men," we can't handle the truth.
Even Bush gets lied to. I found an interesting tidbit this weekend in a New York Times Magazine piece about an Iraqi intellectual named Kanan Makiya. He's the one who sold the Bush administration the tale that the Iraqis would meet American troops with flowers and dancing in the streets. He believed that Ahmed Chalabi, a known crook, would become his country's Nelson Mandela. Leaving Makiya's delusions aside, he tells reporter Dexter Filkins about a meeting before the invasion in the Oval Office with Bush and Condoleezza Rice.
Bush was bragging enthusiastically about America's two-pronged campaign: first, topple Saddam and then rebuild the country. He turned to Rice and said, "Our preparations for rebuilding Iraq are well advanced, right?" And, according to Makiya, "Rice looked down. She could not look him in the eye. And she said, 'Yes, Mr. President.' She looked at the floor."
You almost feel sorry for the dumb jerk, don't you? Come on, people, we're already sinking. Just tell the damned truth already.

Show AllTruth? Well, if you look at page 6986 of the Absolute Truth, about three kilometers from the top of the page, you will read this:
If there's one thing America hates,
It's dictators in oil-rich states!
We shoot them with rockets, bullets and bombs
And watch it on color televi-zhun!
Nice article - The truth will set us free - from both of the major parties of our dreadfully corrupt political parties - and from all the ills that their misgovernance creates.
The government of the USA has feared the truth for a long time. They classify it and make it illegal for those who know to talk about it.
For example:
Top Secret: Information that if released to persons without an official need to know would cause extreme embarrassment.
Secret: Information that if released to persons without an official need to know would cause serious embarrassment.

"I swear by the God of my parents, I swear by my nation,
I swear by my honor that I will not allow my soul to rest,
nor my arm to relax until I have broken the chains
that oppress my people through the will of the powerful.
Free elections, free land and free men, horror to the oligarchy."
Oath used by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez - the Great,
(when he was 28) and some of his revolutionary friends.

The revolutionary path is bathed in light. Take the oath and do what you can! To be complacent is to be complicit.
whatfools___ great idea you have__ no taxes for budget gain!
When Bush says tax cuts are responsible for cutting the budget deficit, he is either the biggest liar or biggest fool ever. How many people would fall for that crap if they knew that in the eight years under Clinton, the annual deficit went from a negative 290 billion to a surplus of 236 billion? That was what happened when we had a progressive tax system and the rich were helping out. Bush`s record in three years was to go from the surplus of 236 billion to a negative 375 billion. He has also approximately doubled the total national debt in his term and apparently figures the sky is the limit and the kids will be glad to pay off his insurmountable debt or our country will default. Great legacy for our president to brag about along with gutting all of the domestic programs that made our country a decent one to live in.
It's just north of 58,000 NOT 55,000 dead in Vietnam.
And oil is approacing that $120 a barrel price you mentioned: and Big
Oil is showing RECORD profits anyway.
Yeah RIGHT.
The truth about why much of the government has been privatized; We privatize government so that a handful of our political allies could make obscene profits and pump a little bit of it back to republicans in the form of campaign contributions.
The truth about the B-52 that flew from Minot AFB to Barksdale AFB with 5 (or 6) nuclear armed cruise missiles; The descision to attack Iran has been made and the attack will be nuclear.
The truth about New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina; By dispersing the poor black residents of New Orleans to red states like Texas we shift the purple state of Louisiana to a red state.
WOW, what a great article.
I want to know the truth I tell you what.
I want to be told how the Free Masons have so much dang pull in the world.
I want to sit in on those CEO Board Meetings and see what they really say about how to make profits.
I want to just be a bug on the wall in the white house for 30days. Just to see and hear all the sneaky slimy things that go on behind closed doors. What language they actually use when they draw up new bills.
I want to here about all the ugly things the CIA do, and all the secret prision, assassination plots.
Want to hang out with the FBI to watch them laugh and joke while they tap people phones. Listen to them have a blast at all the random conversations they listen too that have nothing to do with anything.
I want the whole truth, all the dirty secrets.
Not to share but just to put my mind at rest. I even think I'm crazy sometimes when I relize that I know the Government is a SHAM!!!!!
~Future~
We flirted with some "truth" in the 1970's that we needed to wear sweaters in cool rooms like Ford and Carter and drive very, very small cars at 55 mph. The "kick butt" crowd didn't like that much, so we chased off another direction after "morning in America" with Ronald Reagan (and lots and lots of mideast oil.)
Instead of being as smart as Brazil to find a way to buzz around in sensible cars on fuel made here, we sent, and are sending untold billions for oil to our sworn (by their oath) idealogical enemies in the world of Islam. We enrich them, then we fight them and try to police them.
Politicians have been around all along telling at least some truth about all this, at least some of the time. Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, Clinton, Gore, and Kerry all come to mind. Must we endure another round with another Reagan or Bush soundalike in 2008? Or could we find a candidate to take us back to what was obvious (even if unpleasant) truth in the '70s?
John Lennon said it 35 years ago, "Just gimmie some truth!"
Are you kidding me? "You almost feel sorry for the dumb jerk..." I know the author is being somewhat facetious, but I don't feel sorry one bit for this piece of s@#t for a President! It would be nice to reenact the ending scene in "Dr. Strangelove" by strapping Bush and Cheney to a nuclear bomb and launching it out in the ocean (yes I realize it would be environmentally damaging, but better the ocean than civilians). F@#k these guys! They are war criminals who need to be tried in the International Court and jailed for the rest of their pathetic lives.
"Truth is essential, but it is, of itself, insufficient. Because disorganized truth can be overcome by an organized lie."
--Minister Christopher Mohammed at the 10th Anniversary of People Organized To Win Employment Rights (POWER)
As George Costanza once said: "It's not a lie if you believe it."
Which is to say, it's not the lying - it's the abject denial of the Mt. Everest of facts piled up in front of one's face that is the core problem. Most can say "I'm sorry" if caught in a lie; few can look in the mirror and say "I'm fat," or gay, or a war monger, or a greedy arms dealer responsible for the deaths of millions, or a tobacco peddler, or a major polluter.
We never slaughtered the Native Americans, or nuked Japan twice, or tortured anything ever, or dropped a bomb that wasn't a Peace Treaty, and we are in no way whatsoever responsible for global warming. And, America has never aggressively invaded - or otherwise screwed - another sovereign nation in order to steal/control their resources. Never! Understand?!
We know we're being lied to, and will always be. And we also know that our insatiable lust for greed and power doesn't end up so well for a lot of "little" people. Denial makes it easier to focus on the important stuff, like feeding the kids and packing for the move from the foreclosed house to the one bedroom in the high-crime district.
And don't forget - finally, the fourth installment of the best torture series of all time, "Saw IV," is opening soon! Talk about your denial of the reality surrounding you...
Why not just tell us what the real reason for the war is?
I have asked that question before myself. For one thing it would have saved three thousnd lives on 9/11 [an iside job without any doubt]. But then again the World Trade Center building's were white elephants full of asbestos and instead of costing a lot of money taking them down they made money [they are still slapping each other on the back for the sheer brilliance of it].
Since they have the full media control at their disposal part of the fun is messing with people's minds and perfecting new ways of mind control.
I believe the article has hit the nail on the head but the thing that pisses me off is that if we are in such a desperate situation as to attack innocent nations don't they think a little bit of a conservation effort of the use of oil would be prudent. Then again that might tip their hand that we are in deed desperate.
To all who want some truth........
This is a must see for any truth warrior out there!
http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/
Truth. Let's start with some basic truth. First off, the Iraq War is not a "war". It started off as a war and ended with the annihilation of Saddam Hussein, his government, and the vanquishing of the Iraqi army. The war was very swift. It was just how the architects of the invasion said it would be. The Mission Accomplished Banner that is mocked by many is in fact true. The correct term now is OCCUPATION. There is a big difference in these two words. The word "war" connotes nobility to it. There is a sense of fighting in a war for something good and noble, e.g., WWII being the "good war". There is a sense of fighting a war for something of principle and worth defending. Occupation is entirely different. Occupation is a concept that connotes imperialism, aggression, totalitarianism, and repression.
Another truth: the invasion, war, and ongoing occupation of Iraq by the United States are a war crime. It is an illegal act of the highest order set forth by the Nuremberg Principles, the Geneva Conventions, and International Law.
What many progressives and Democrats rail at this so-called "war" is its mismanagement. As if they could have done it better and more efficiently. That is a crock. We fail to acknowledge the hard fact that what America has done is commit an illegal act and crime against humanity. Even our progressive media folk such as Keith Olbermann and Jon Stewart fail to recognize this truth. Olbermann and Stewart mock the MISSION ACCOMPLISHED banner behind Bush's staged propaganda speech on the aircraft carrier years ago. They mock it as if the war was not over yet. They have it wrong. The war was over fast. The occupation began after the intended regime change. The truth is that by being an occupying force, we are in action, the very thing that is opposite of democratic principles. We are an empire. The principles of empire are inimical and diametrically opposed to the principles or a democratic and free society.
The truth is that many cannot face the truth of what we have become. We are no longer a democracy of liberty, justice, and freedom. We are war criminals and repressive occupiers of another country that did nothing to provoke, threat, or attack us in anyway. I don't need to reiterate all the lies and deliberate falsehoods to hoodwink the public into this criminal act. The phantom WMD's and false tie between Saddam and 9/11 are a matter of record now. We are a totalitarian police state right now, albeit an inactive one. The Patriot Act, Military Commissions Act, Directive 51, the curtailment of habeas corpus, official torture policy, and many other directives have essentially changed the soul of our nation. We are only one "emergency" away from becoming a totalitarian police state. There are KBR built detention facilities all around the country on standby for the dissenters. By the way, Bush signed a directive a couple months ago outlawing the criticism of the Iraqi government. Those that speak ill of this "war" and the Iraqi government are subject to having their property seized and being detained for "undermining" the progress of the Iraqi government. Folks, those detention centers are meant for all of us here.
The author of this article, Joyce Marcel seems to not understand the gravity of truth that I have just described. Marcel thinks that if Bush and Cheney had just come clean and said that we are invading to take someone's oil that would make things finer. The truth is not going to be declared. It is not only the villains that need to speak truth. It is all of us. Truth needs to be unearthed and dug out from the layers and layers of self-delusion. We need to start the process of truth by coming clean with what kind of people we are and have thus become. It is an ugly truth we face indeed. But we must acknowledge it and work our way towards the light.
The truth is, Bush and his oil and defense industry overseers don't give a damn about what the price of oil is or could do to the U.S. economy. Together, they have helped to triple the price of oil and devalue the dollar by about half while they are at it. What they care about is controlling the oil and cashing in on it ASAP regardless of what it does to the U.S. economy. They are multinationals led by greedy men (and, once, Condi) trying to grab all they can before the folly of deregulation and globalization brings on the next widespread economic depression.
If they cared about the U.S. economy, they would be investing in it instead of arranging to have just about everything made somewhere else and bought on credit. Or, to flip it around, if they were investing in America and pegging their own futures on the value of the dollar, they would not be treating economic and environmental assets in the U.S. like forfeited equipment at a bankrupt farm auction.
The military adventures in the Middle East are just one of many ways to quickly pump billions of dollars out of the U.S. and into the offshore holdings of multinationals while paving the way for them to gain unfair and/or unlawful advantages in the next economies they expect to strip mine for short term gain.
The only reason to spin this story at all for the American public is to keep them borrowing, spending, and running the finance industry that is central to one of the currently favored means of looting. Telling the truth would just cut short the time, and thus wealth, that can be exploited before the bottom falls out--as more and more people sense is bound to happen, yet manage to hope will not without any clear idea how such a fate can be avoided, given the direction we have been headed for quite a while, now.
Colin Powell promised us a 'White Paper' listing the evidence against bin Laden.
The White House then said that there would be no list. Since this administration couldn't come up with actual evidence, any 'reasons' that might be offered about bin Laden's guilt would seem, therefore, to be more lies.
Remember Slick Willy's, "I did not have sex with that woman"?
G. W.(Warmonger) Bush said we need to get them "Terrorists... bla, bla, bla". Its more BS. I've learned to disregard their deceit.
"How can you tell that Bush is lying?" -- His lips are moving.
These people have no use for truth. They wouldn't know it if it bit them in the ass. The US "fishy" government is rotting from the head down and the stench is getting worse.
The Multi-national agenda is advancing on schedule with the puppet Republicans leading the march to social oblivion. The "Dim-ocrats" are just as ignorant, apparently brain dead. Third party progressives feel like snowballs in hell. What a pack of losers!
Hitler was a prolific liar and the inventor of the Great Lie, repeated until the venom penetrated and numbed the senses. Sound familiar?
Perhaps King George II talks to Osama B-L every night via cell phone, praising his contribution to the Neo-con's "reign of anti-terror". It would not surprise me.
Big petroleum, Big Media, Big Weapons, Big Banks, Big Whatever, are conglomerating. Oh, don't forget Big Fear, that's important. Issues like the US Constitution or worker's rights are moot concerns. The founding fathers should be spinning in their graves.
Enough said.
They will never tell the truth, so I recommend that anyone associated with the Bush administration be waterboarded.
The "Drug Wars",too! What a hoot! Untill Big Tobacco is destroyed we can never, ever say that progress has been made against dangerous drugs. As everybody knows, the use of tobacco is a killer but the pushers keep lying and folks keep buying. We don't hear much about this. Anyone?
Thanks, Joyce!
"Individuals need not believe all these mystifications, but they must behave as though they did ... tolerate them in silence, or get along well with those who work with them ... they must live within a lie ... need not accept the lie. It is enough to have accepted their life with it and in it. For by this very fact, … (they) are the system."
These words from Vaclav Havel define the conspiracy theory of life in the USA -- unquestioning acquiescence to the Official Story, be it 9-11, JFK, MLKing, Iran-Contra, climate change, color-coded fear-factors, the Lusitania, or even the manufactured hysteria of "Injuns! Savages!" and the horrific brutality that followed.
Americans are so adapted to being lied to that they are more prepared to accept Blackwater troops patrolling Main St. than to take the streets, en-masse, in a general strike against the Corporate Reich. Is Iran really a threat to you, Citizen?
Is the "damn truth" different from the "whole truth?"
Because the "whole truth" would have to include Israel's continued oppression of the Palestinian people.
Yesterday, US ally Israel deployed the IDF to enforce Israel's appropriation of over 1 million square metres of land that will slice from the West Bank passage to Jerusalem. The goal is to "weaken the Palestinian state by fragmenting the territory," according to Ben Gurion professor Oren Yiftachel. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/LAC.20071010.JERUSALEM10/TPStory/TPInternational/Africa/
Indeed, tell the damn truth. The whole damn truth.
And to top it all off:
"Bush Says Low Taxes Cut US Budget Deficit"
Just think what NO TAXES will do to the US Budget Deficit.
We can be just like Zimbabwe where nobody pays taxes
or has an income...keep it up Ahab! Stab at the heart of America until it spouts black blood and red ink.
LET'S JUST START WITH THE TRUTH OF 9/11...ADMIT IT WAS A FALSE FLAG OPERATION ..AND LET THE CHIPS FALL WHERE THEY MAY AND THE HANDCUFFS BE PUT WHERE THEY BELONG!!
Bu$h the inferior and his cronies have never in their lives told the truth - in public and probably seldom in private.
I don't remember who said it but when Bu$h the inferior and his government are told to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth they think thats three different things.
It would be fun to see them try to tell the truth.
I told the truth once.
I was so severely punished at work, I eventually had to leave.
I told the truth, that I thought any invasion of Iraq would strategically not be to the U.S.'s advantage.
Now I tell people what they want to hear.
It's hard to take a "9/11 truth" guy with the caps lock key on seriously.
jakenewton...Why?
Emman
You've nailed it and my wife swears I'm also "Emman" for your words are mine precisely. "War" my ass. There's no war and there are no "insurgents" either. Those people trying to drive out our military thugs are rag-tag members of the Iraqi Resistance. But then, "occupation president" just doesn't have that ring, does it? And so many other things are covered if we keep pretending it's a war.
Yes, by all means support the troops - by getting them the hell out of there and if any of them is responsible for killing an Iraqi civilian, he should be sent to court to answer to the charge of invading a foreign country and taking a human life. At Nuremburg "just following orders" didn't cut it and it doesn't now when our own Wehrmacht roams the planet and kills.
"jakenewton…Why?"
Good. Carry on.

The author takes some of the truth out of Bush/Cheney mouths, but not all the truth. One missing part is the pressure brought to bear by the fifth column of the-you-know what country that had a lot to do with pushing for Iraq war, and has a lot to do for pushing us to another war with Iran, as everyone can plainly see today.
I wish the dems in congress would tell the truth. Who's side are they really on? Why does it appear they don't represent, or even care about people like me. How come impeachment is really off the table. Their excuse is that they have more important things to do. Even though the repubs will block them at every turn. What gives? How come Hillary is presented as the voice of reason and Kucinich is derided as a left fringe lunatic. I know the repubs lie, that's a given. I want to know why dems feel they have to lie. Who's side are they really on?
Marcel says: Not only would industry get behind an immediate attack, but I'm guessing those patriots at NASCAR and almost everyone else in the country who drives a car would jump on that bandwagon. "One thousand lives, 10,000?" they would say. "How many lives did we give up in Vietnam for nothing? Fifty-five thousand? We could go 55, and I'll see you 60.
Alll chickenhawks love war as long as it somebody else's kids--from working class families--or get some immigrants who want citizenship to fight. And, no, the NASCAR folks have to be lied to because basically they see themselves as good, patriotic Americans. That is why they have to go "after them over there before they come over here"--remember that lie from the Vietnam era? The only Vietnamese I see invading us are the ones opening up nail care shops. The only Iraqis you will probably see are the tens of thousands we have made homeless and will probably have to bring in here as we did those who aided us in Vietnam--refugees. I do see tags in clothing now, however, that say "made in Vietnam." Ohhhh, dangerous old Ho, sitting around in those jungles plotting the overthrow of the U.S.--planing his invasion tactics--now making our clothes!
Every-day Americans have to have a certain amount of self-deception about themselves, their country, and their place in it. Otherwise, they go mad or grow despondent. This is why the government keeps the lies going, and why the ordinary -never-reads-a-book" guy buys into the myths and lies so happily. This is why it is so easy for them to believe that all our troubles started "when they took prayer out of schools." It is a nice, simple explanation for complex matters. "It's them old athiests. That's why we gotta vote for a good god-fearing man--one of our own." (Don't confuse them with the facts--that the Bushes are of the Eastern Bankers crowd--not the step in horse-shit cowpoke of the range as he pretends to be. Don't remind him (or the true-believing Dem about Kerry) that their guy is a Yale Skull-and-Bones devil worshipper. The people who really rule says: you want this one or that one--they are both ours so take your pick.
This is also why it is so difficult for ordinary "Joe blows" to accept that 9-11 is an inside job. Suppose, Al Gore had been president when the bunch who really runs things pulled off 9-11? Every right wing nut would be yelling for his head--they would have said "that commie, left wing pinko" has attacked our country! If you will recall, they wanted to put the Clintons in jail for investing $20,000 in a doublewide trailor park in Arkansas called Whitewater--a deal in which they lost their $20,000, by the way. They also thought Clinton wanted to take over the world and that Vince Foster "knew" stuff and so they murdered him--or maybe he "knew" Hillary too well, and so they murdered him. On and on and on the right wing went on about such things. I was constantly told by them that Clinton wanted to declare martial law, that he would not allow new elections. What do you hear from all the right wingers now? Mostly silence. When it is no longer a mere threat, but reality, most of them are quiet, because having aided and abetted this guy with their vote, they have a hard time accepting the fact that they have been totally duped. Kind of takes away from the joy they felt when the election was "stolen" huh?
But to accept this would cause their red heads to explode.
That is why it is so important to push 9-11 truth every chance we get. Until it is acknowledged that those in our own government have attacked us, nothing can be changed. People will stay in their self-imposed comfort zones. Who wants their head to explode? Notice how ALL of the politicians try to stay away from calling for 9-11 truth. The ones who are honest would prefer not to receive anthrax in their morning mail.
So, I don't trust any politican (including Gore) who skips over the 9-11 crime or further pushes the idea that 19 arabs with box cutters did it. If someone pushes that illusion, they are part of the system, and become accessories after the fact to 3,000 murders--not to mention all the people who are dying because of envirnonmental contamination from that event.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that buildings that are burning do not explode like volcanoes and eject steel beams blocks away with such force they torpedo into sides of buildings. Nor do people get "vaporized" in an office building fire--nor do computers, desks and all other objects pulverize into fine dust simply by crashing to the ground at faster than gravity, and cars for blocks around are usually not burnt into shells from a pyroclastic flow. The FBI confiscated suveillance videos on 9-11, protected patsies as they went about their business in this country--all of this is well documented. They do not mean for us to know the truth. Therefore, I will not give them the satisfaction of parroting their lies. "Homeland Security" is just that--to secure the people of the United States just as Hitler "secured" the fatherland. You can't go anywhere without showing your papers. I can tell you who terrorizes me, and it ain't Ho and it ain't a muslim.
It's interesting to me that Ms. Marcel is certain she's being lied to, but then again certain that she knows "the truth": that our attacks on Iraq and perhaps Iran have nothing to do with Israel and that Ahmadinejad is crazyStupid -- among other supposed facts-- in this mushy (and my opinion, rather worthless) opinion piece.
If all your information stream is lies, why do you accept some parts of that stream as true and some as lies?
Or is the truth what you already know? I do believe that's called prejudice.
This piece smells like Tom Friedman. Phew!
I know Saddam was not a good guy and he caused a lot of misery. But I do not care that we are the 'greatest country on earth' we have no business going into any country I don't care which one it is and outright basically stealing their oil reserves and leaving them in shreds and living like paupers on our handouts for God's sake...
if america poliititions came out with the truth, they would all be looking for a new job.
If American Politicians came out with the truth, everyone would know that these politicians are complicit in committing treason. Selling out the citizens and the US Constitution in exchange for a seat at the elitist-control-table with the J.P. Morgans, Rockefeller's, Warburgs et al
SPEAKING OF "CONSPIRACIES"----- HAS ANYONE ELSE COSIDERED THE POSSIBILITY THAT THE REASON SO MANY AMERICANS REMAIN SILENT ON IMPORTANT ISSUES ( OR POLITICALLY CORRECT ) IS BECAUSE THEY ARE RECEIVING MONTHLY CHECKS THAT COME FROM THOSE "MISSING BILLIONS " THAT THE ADMINISTRATION CANNOT ACCOUNT FOR AND / OR A SMALL PERCENTENTAGE OF THE BILLOINS IN PROFITS BEING MADE OFF SLAVE LABOR IN CHINA AND ELSEWHERE ?
I don't want Truth...The Truth is ugly. We are apes with huge brains living on a molten rock shooting through Space. We have short desperate lives full of vanities and fears, and we hurt each other too much. I prefer a cold beer over the Truth.
double post == too impatient
This is an excellent article acknowledging what I have been saying about America for some time now: A nation of nomadic snake oil salesmen and women. The Duperpower, defined as: The opposite of Superpower; a nation that is duplicitous, deceptive, deceitful and dishonest in its dealings with the world.
It appears that the message is starting to get through. Tell the truth.
As not telling the truth is endemic in the current American culture, the first thing to do is revise and update American Mythology so it tells the truth. American history is a tissue of lies that are repeated to your children, and the result is dumbass unscrupulous profit-motivated perverted warmongering pricks in the 'White' House and a public with insufficient integrity and character to remove them from office. The Bush Administration (Badministration) is a product of American Culture and Mythology. Likewise the scandal-ridden Senate and Congress, and the current political parties. Lying is the American Way today. It needs to change.
