Bush to Karzai: Will You Just Shut Up Abour Iran!
Things got a little testy at the Camp David Summit between Afghan President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan and American President George Bush.
Karzai, who when he is in the U.S. is expected to act as a puppet of the Bush administration, made the mistake of actually speaking his mind. In a CNN interview broadcast Sunday, the Afghan president said terrorism in Afghanistan is getting worse, that the hunt for al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is at a standstill and, then, he described Iran as a positive player -- "a helper and a solution" -- in the region.
All of these statements are objectively true.
But George Bush does not deal in the realm of truth. And he certainly does not like his puppet presidents getting off their strings.
On the eve of the summit, Karzai told CNN that:
1. "The security situation in Afghanistan over the past two years has definitely deteriorated. The Afghan people have suffered. Terrorists have killed our schoolchildren. They have burned our schools. They have killed international helpers."
2. "We are not closer (to catching bin Laden), we are not further away from it. We are where we were a few years ago."
3. "So far, Iran has been a helper (in the fight against terrorism)."
All of those statements, made by Karzai in an interview with Wolf Blitzer on the eve of his trip to Camp David, were corrected by Bush upon the Afghan president's arrival.
On the security situation, Bush told Karzai not to believe what he was seeing on the ground in Afghanistan. "There is still work to be done, don't get me wrong," Bush said. "But progress is being made."
On the bin Laden search, Bush spoke of how the hunt is progressing and declared that, "With real actionable intelligence, we will get the job done."
On Iran's positive role in the region, Bush again told Karzai not to believe his own experience but instead to accept the neoconservative version of events. "I would be very cautious about whether or not the Iranian influence there in Afghanistan is a positive force," the American president pointedly told the Afghan president.
So there you have it, a meeting of the minds Bush-style.
A foreign leader from a region of supreme interest to the United States comes to Camp David to brief the American president on what is going on. The foreign leader speaks his mind, offering his best assessment of the experience he is living. Then the president tells the visitor from abroad that he is wrong.
As Bush famously declared at a policy session in 2005, "See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda."
And it is just so damned inconvenient when a puppet who is supposed to help spread the propaganda instead messes everything up by talking about what is really happening.
John Nichols' new book is The Genius of Impeachment: The Founders' Cure for Royalism. Rolling Stone's Tim Dickinson hails it as a "nervy, acerbic, passionately argued history-cum-polemic [that] combines a rich examination of the parliamentary roots and past use of the 'heroic medicine' that is impeachment with a call for Democratic leaders to 'reclaim and reuse the most vital tool handed to us by the founders for the defense of our most basic liberties.'"

"Naturally, the common people don't want war, but after all, it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy along whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a parliament or a communist dictatorship….Voice or no voice, people can always be brought to do the bidding of the leaders…This is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being ATTACKED and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country."

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?
Hermann Goering was brought to justice, that's all.
Bush actually still seems to believe that everyone believes what he says. He is SO delusional and detached from reality that he thinks whatever he says, people take as fact, because he is president. This guy is not only mentally deficient but mentally deranged. A dry drunk that never got his problem fixed is now drunk on power. This has got to stop As Soon As Possible.
Pakistan is the real problem when it comes to Afghanistan not Iran! But the Bush Administration and its Likudnik friends want us to attack Iran so Iran must be portrayed as the problem. Its ridiculous all the Afghans are asking is for someone to pay attention and fix the real problems and not play politics!

Well you all seem to get it: Bush is the worst patriot of all, he is abusive [not respectfull] to the troops, the wars he starts are all about commerce [oil], and his leadership has damaged America financially but has rewarded certain corporate entities richly - especially himself and the Bush Family Fortune [thats why he was sent there] - these crimes are even BIGGER than GW Bush [those who sent him to the White House].
Now, when will the rest of America catch on? IMPEACH!!!
quote: "This has got to stop As Soon As Possible" - bravo.
The idea that one must repeat the thing over and over again regardless of evidence besides being a textbook example of "the big lie" is the clearest sign of psychological derangement anyone could ask to have.
This prick (bush) behaves like my neighbours pet chihuahau, who has his balls licked by the other lesser chihuahuas and throws a hissy fit when that doesnt happen. My neighbour is seriously considering castration as an option and we should too.
C'mon Hamid old boy, who ya gonna believe, Bush or your lying eyes?
If Hamid doesn't shape up PDQ, he can be replaced. Anyone under the age of 40 may want to Google the name Ngo Dinh Diem. The American government has done it before during war and it can do it again.
GYPTIAN : As per the castration option, I often wondered if a sane defense might not be raising a public fund that sends Laura Bush off to the Loreena Bobitt School of Mate Obedience Training? Hey, use your best line of defense, right?
SJC-1: There are enough authoritarians in this nation (50 million fundamentalists make up most of that ticket) who will believe what THE authority ("Heck, he's the president, ain't he?") tells them IS true. They are conditioned from an early age NOT to question authority figures, and when religion tells them THIS president is God's ambassador, who are they to challenge this holy man? Talk about not honoring the evidence of your own eyes and ears, but of course, since media has bent itself into the decider's image and likeness, with so much of what IS going on, left under the radar, it makes the task of propaganda far far easier. This is what happens when the free press becomes the corporate press and the 4th estate worships the same pay masters that our so-called representative leaders pay homage to. Ah, democracy... will you, too, enter the Endangered Species list?
How is it that Karzai manages to keep his head from exploding? Or from rolling on the floor laughing out loud? How do any world leaders, when forced into their on-camera humiliation moment with the Loonitary Decider, manage to at least not roll their eyes? Do they watch game tapes of the God-talker in action and practice? You'd think, just once, Karzai would be like, "What are you, some sort of fu**ing moron? You're killin' us over here!!!"
Wow, that might cost Karzai some of his Unicol shares.
"I would be very cautious about whether or not the Iranian influence there in Afghanistan is a positive force."
Wow! If that is not a veiled threat from the Godfather himself, I do not know what is! Hamid, be careful, you might wake up with a stallion's head in your bed tomorrow!
Iran made the "mistake" almost thirty years of overthrowing our puppet that we installed as a result of the U.S.-sponsored coup that overthrew Mossagegh in 1953, and we just can't bring ourselves to forgive them.
Iran has had very close relations with Afghanistan, especially Herat, in the past and I'm sure Karzai is correct.
Bush is either completely insane or completely evil.
"But George Bush does not deal in the realm of truth. And he certainly does not like his puppet presidents getting off their strings."
If you are a string player in a Symphony Orchestra and play the wrong the strings, be very prepared to be scolded by your conductor. You are required to play the piece "exactly" the way the "conductor" interprets its meaning. You are merely an extension of your instrument and not the conductor who decides how you will interpret the expression of the composer.
As an experienced musician/politician, you can choose to play your own interpretation of the composition, or you can follow the direction of a conductor who thinks he has a "special insight" with the composer(s).
In short, follow the "truth" of your own heart and mind. There are no Gods on this earth!

"Bush is either completely insane or completely evil...."
I would humbly suggest BOTH.....
Just absolutely insane. The rest of us are mere "sane" enablers.
Evil requires a set of stones; this mutt is without even the smallest vestiges of manhood.
It seems that George does not want Mr. Karzai to establish relations with Iran. Why George? Because you refuse to so everybody else should also? Nice! No wonder George do not use diplomacy. George does not know how and does not have the ability to compromise when necessary.
Did George forget that he waged war on Afghanistan against our allies in their nation when the Russians invaded? I am sure Mr. Karzai is experiencing much worse in Afghanistan than what George is experiencing in the USA. Mr. Karzai is doing the best he can given the circumstances.
Georgie must be dringking again or else simonhhh is right... insanely evil
I realize it is old information for those who make the effort to know, but we all should keep bringing the point forward that this is all about energy resources and hegemony for American corporations. Some of the largest natural gas reserves on earth are in Turkmenistan and there is also natural gas in Afghanistan. The Russians were exporting it but the Afghans kept blowing up the pipelines and their soldiers. To the corporate fascists (both American political parties) Iran has been a problem ever since they gave the boot to American and British oil corporations. Now they are in a position to pipeline resources from the Caspian sea or Turkmenistan to southern seaports. Afghanistan also has this pipeline potential for many parts of Central Asia. India and Pakistan also have unlimited demand for cheap energy and American corporations would like to be the ones selling it to them. At one time UNOCAL was supposed to build the trans-Afghan pipeline to supply a now defunct ENRON electrical plant in India. Despite all the hype about energy and our national security, we only get about 20% of our oil from the Middle East. The current situation is about hegemony for American Big Oil and also feeding the military industrial complex, which actually spends more tax dollars subsidizing Big Oil than the profits are worth. This situation is truly a negative cash flow in terms of imperialism even if you accept the imperial model as desirable or moral. Clearly, imperialism is not conducive to a harmonious world. But then, if you create war there are war profits to be made even if you loose the resource battle as we are in Iraq. A very scary scenario that is now developing is that the dollar is tied to the power of our military and as a reserve currency for trading oil and we are losing control of oil sources via incompetent policies and by making more enemies. Our military is also looking rather impotent on the ground as they are over-stretched. The dollar is starting to look like funny money compared to the Eurodollar and Japan is already shifting corporate investment to Europe where corporations tend to NOT be run by corporate criminals looking for quick profits. Greed is such a mess ! And a final note, I was in Afghanistan in 1969 and have nothing but respect for the Afghans and hope they survive the crush of demented super-power corporate cruelty. Hard to believe we flew 55,000 bombing missions over one of the poorest countries on earth who had already sacrificed to help us defeat the Russians ? But, Afghans do have time on their side in the "great game". Imperial empires come and go especially when the emperors are incompetent and lack integrity like mad King George.

Well said....The diabolical Karma BushCo are sowing is frightening.....Blow back from this geo-political mess will be a 'son of a bitch'....pardon the expression but I picked up this sobriquet a couple of a nights ago from someone confusing political discussion with unmentionable pseudo religious innuendo....
Put differently, religious bigotry is the hobgoblin of simple minds....
There seems little doubt in my mind, that impeachment would be the route to take. However, I do not think that that would ever come to pass because george has covered all bases in his plan to stay in power forever. His plans for Martial Law, and the events he has planned to implement said Law, would stop any and all proceedings against him. My choice at this point is to stock up on necessities, including amunition, and visit www.nuke-pill.com .(My order is on its way). Unfortunately I live in the Heartland; not a target for foreign terrorists, but seemingly a target for neocons. Seems to me that george could dirtybomb north/south cities in the midwest to disrupt the flow of east/west goods to create a national emergency large enough to declare Martial law, keep him in power, and continue his scheme to "FULFILL PROPHESY", as, I believe he stated in one of his pre-2000 election speeches. Time to get your Potassium Iodide pills, NOW.
