Much of US Favors Bush/Cheney Impeachment: Poll
WASHINGTON -- Nearly half of the US public wants President George W. Bush to face impeachment, and even more favor that fate for Vice President Dick Cheney, according to a poll out Friday.
The survey by the American Research Group found that 45 percent support the US House of Representatives beginning impeachment proceedings against Bush, with 46 percent opposed, and a 54-40 split in favor when it comes to Cheney.
The study by the private New Hampshire-based ARG canvassed 1,100 Americans by telephone July 3-5 and had an error margin of plus or minus three percentage points. The findings are available on ARG's Internet site.
The White House declined to comment on the poll, the latest bad news for a president who has seen his public opinion standings dragged to record lows by the unpopular war in Iraq.
The US Constitution says presidents and vice presidents can be impeached -- that is, formally charged by the House -- for "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors" by a simple majority vote.
Conviction by the Senate, which requires a two-thirds majority, means removal from office.
Just two US presidents have been impeached: Bill Clinton was impeached in 1998 and acquitted in 1999; Andrew Johnson was impeached and acquitted in 1868. Disgraced president Richard Nixon resigned in 1974 when a House impeachment vote appeared likely.
In late April, left-wing Representative Dennis Kucinich, a long-shot Democratic presidential hopeful, introduced a resolution calling for Cheney's impeachment. To date, the measure has nine listed co-sponsors and a 10th set to sign on when the House returns to work next week.
But Democratic leaders appear unlikely to pursue such a course.

Show AllLet the impeachment process begin!! 46% oppose impeaching Bush and 40% oppose impeaching Cheney - who the hell are these people???
Hooray !!!!

Thank you "private New Hampshire-based ARG"

The nation is split along party lines. We need an impeachment hearing to make the case against the Bush administration very clear to even those dense Republicans.
Colleen,
That is what I figured, but was not quite sure. I totally agree with you. Thanks.
I think Colleen is correct. Those numbers are nothing compared to what they would be if the case for the impeachment of Dick Cheney were presented in the House. If the case were made, it would be such news that the crimes of Bush/Cheney would HAVE to be front page news. Even Fox News would have to report the crimes in order to try to justify them! Once proceedings begin against Cheney, the numbers will alter significantly and Bush will no longer enjoy just a lukewarm response to his OWN impeachment. I would be willing to bet that such an action would split the Republican base nearly down the middle with those loyal to the idea of a Monarch, and those who see danger in the usurpation of secret powers by Bush and Cheney.
Impeach.
True, it would be better to impeach Cheney first. Then the clay feet under Chimpy would crumble, unless he used his tail to hang onto a tree!
Claudius, you answered your own question. The nation is split along party lines. I don't think an impeachment proceeding will wake people up however. Merely causing a war and killing innocent lives is nothing compared to having sex with a pretty younger female intern to the American conscience. An impeachment maneuver will merely become an embarrassing debacle with every Republican voting no and most Democrats voting yes. The only real question will be is it more embarrassing for the Republicans, the Democrats or the nation as a whole that we allowed this extreme failure of judgment to occur at our highest levels of office. The third option of course is already well known by most people outside the U.S.
There are so many issues that these individuals could be impeached for (I can think of at least 10) -- the article doesn't mention which one. Can they be impeached for several illegal/unconstitutional things they've done rather than having to pick just one?
If most Americans knew how corrupt Bush and 95% of the top politicians are - they would be thrown out of power quickly and many would be placed in concrete & steel cages.
Our corrupt corporate newsmedia gets much credit for the horrible way that things are. Three cheers for common dreams & democracynow.org and all the other alternative news sources that help reveal the truth that will set us free from all the nasty effects of political incompetence & corruption.
Please call your congress/senate once a week & insist that they impeach the buggers. Tell em that if they can't do that, then they themselves should resign.
http://www.impeachbush.org
Impeachment for both Bush and Cheney is long over due.
It would please me to no end to see them both put on trial in a World Court in the Hauge and let them answer for all of their trumped up lies.
Impeach Now!
Bush and Cheney have treated the consititution and the citizens of this country with explicit dishonor and therefore need to be made to leave office with dishonorable discharges, not just be allowed to stay in office.
We understand the reticence Democrats in Congress may have because of the fear that impeachment may backfire on them as it did on Republicans who impeached Clinton. However, that is an unreasonable fear. It backfired because the Republicans were wrong then and the public knew it. And they are wrong now and the public knows it unquestionably. The Dems were right then and they are still right now if they start impeachment and the public knows that, too, and demands it. It is not going to backfire. Doing nothing is what backfires.
Do something to alleviate our pain!
Whether it is a year before the scheduled time, or even a day, the country can only heal its image in the world with an act of real democracy which is impeachment. (Followed, we may hope, with a perp walk.)
It the corrupters stay without challenge the system itself will be proved to be unalterably corrupt and no one 'harboring these evildoers' is worthy of our votes, let alone our respect.
Democrats in Congress, be patriots and use the 'I' word to get us back to 'we' again or we'll pre-impeach you at the voting booths before you even get into your next office. This is no time stand aside.
IMPEACH THE LEECHES! NOW!
The REPIGLICANS' loyalty is to ALMIGHTY MONEY. But guess what? The SPINELESS DUMBOCRATS FOLLOW - LOCKSTEP - just like lemmings off a seaside cliff. Ain't no numbers in GOV'T that reflect the wishes of the CITIZENRY........$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
There are a few pathways open to achieve impeachment.
1. VOTE WITH YOUR DOLLARS: Buy what you need. Make livelihood solidarity with your family, and every other person in the world an act with every voting dollar. Buy as though every dollar is a choice and investment in a better world.
2. VOTE WITH YOUR FEET: First identify those economies that war mongers control, don't buy these products or services and buy from companies committed to local sustainable development, stakeholder participation and peace. Become a discerning consumer, then a discerning worker and finally an investor in life.
3. VOTE WITH YOUR OPINION (As with political voting every four years, this is the least-effective of these options.)Which organisations or businesses are systematically organising WEB and PAPER-based PETITIONS supporting the impeachment of Bush and/or Cheney? Petitions need to be organised in the USA as well as through every other country in the world. Pooling organisational resources for petitioning impeachment is a daunting task because of the huge numbers involved who will gladly register their opinion that these criminals should be decommissioned.
4. PLAN FOR REPARATIONS. (we can only implement pathways 3 and 4 through pathways 1 and 2) Presently western war economies including the USA, Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia arms manufacturers and war-profiteers from around the world need to plan for trillions of dollars of reparations to Iraquis, Vietnamese, Native Americans and injured peoples everywhere. Both national treasuries and these specific companies and conglomerates need to be identified. Citizens, soldiers and workers are all responsible to whatever degree we are involved with these monetary economies.
pastor. In the first place, Monika was NOT a pretty intern, by any account. And secondly, it will be most embarrassing of all for America as a whole (Republicans, Democrats, Atheists, etc...) if we stand by and idly watch as our once envied way of life is crushed into dictatorial shit by the profit driven Bush administration.
IMPEACH 'EM NOW!
Does anyone know why Nancy Pelosi hasn't sufficiently answered this question, "Why did you make the statement about impeachment being off the table?"
Nancy, if you want to be the majority leader then speak for the majority of the American people. Start impeachment proceedings against Cheney immediately, since numerous polls reflect that to be the WILL OF THE MAJORITY OF OUR CITIZENS.
claudius and others:
The country is split between progresives and neanderthals. Get used to it.
Don't be romantic and believe that other group has many more decent people left(see below for reasoning). As Jefferson and your other great founding fathers have said, they do not deserve a humane social democracy since they prefer fascism. America has little time to be romantic as I have said before. Face reality and save the decent 60% of the folk.
If the 40% Neanderthals have shut down all information flow into their heads for six years except from Christian fundamentalists, Fox News, Limbaugh, and PNAC, you are never going to get through. They are in a siege mentality, have circled the wagons, are armed to the teeth, and probably have the Confedreate Flag flying with SS insignia on it to be unfurled agains all of us godless commies.
Please don't be naive. Now is the time to solidify that 54-60% base and not worry about the Neanderthals and their neo-con leaders.
Just marginalise them without viloence. 75% of the intellectual resources to prosper in the new Knowledge Based economies of the world are among the progressive 60%. The Neanderthals will evoporate economically within 10 years as their 17th century, lilly white, know- nothing "society" will collapse around them while the 60% builds a humane social democracy in the mold of Norway, Sweden and Canada.
Great! Cheers! Let's start the progressive buildup and consolidation.
ONWARD INTO THE WORLD AS LIGHT OF HUMANE, SOCIALLY JUST DEMOCRACY.
NO MORE WAR!!!
PEACE! PEACE! PEACE!

"Lonely and lame, Bush agonises over legacy"
From: http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,,2120797,00.html
Ewen MacAskill in Washington
Saturday July 7, 2007 The Guardian
"President George Bush turned 61 yesterday but he had little to celebrate at the end of a week in which his isolation has been exposed as never before.
Laura Bush held an early family party for him on Wednesday, to which a few professional golfers were also invited, and on Thursday the president made a rare outing to watch a baseball game. But these few birthday celebrations apart, it has been a relentless week for the US president.
A backlash against his decision on Monday to commute the jail sentence of the former White House aide Lewis "Scooter" Libby was followed on Thursday by the withdrawal of support for his Iraq strategy by Pete Domenici, a Republican senator for 35 years.
The loss of such a loyal senator is ominous for Mr Bush's war plans.
More defections are expected, and Mr Bush cuts a lonely figure, holed up in the White House fretting over his legacy.
Professor Robert Dallek, author of several books about the presidency, said that while it was not unusual for a president to limp to the end of his term as a lame duck, he saw Mr Bush as a particularly pronounced case.
"If you are looking at defeat, no one wants to be associated with the person responsible. This is the case with Bush. You do not see his party rally round. He has united opinion against him and it makes for a lonely, isolated position," Prof Dallek said. "Once a president loses trust, he cannot govern effectively."
Although he has 18 months left in office, Mr Bush's options are limited. Last week, he lost his last chance for snatching a lasting domestic legacy when his immigration reform bill was destroyed in Congress. On foreign policy, there is little optimism of a late breakthrough on Israel-Palestine, Iran or Iraq.
The Washington Post reported this week on academics invited to the White House to discuss with him his legacy, including Sir Alistair Horne, author of a history of the Algerian revolt, which has parallels with Iraq.
They, as well as former staffers and friends, spoke of his loneliness, his agonising over how history will portray him. Michael Conaway, a still loyal senator and long-time friend, said the president appeared to be worn down by the pressure and spoke of "a marked difference in his physical appearance".
Although never a social animal, he is reluctant to drop into Washington restaurants unannounced for dinner, as the Clintons did, in part because he is fearful of the public response. This week, in particular, because of the Libby decision, he has largely avoided public contact - his July 4 speech in West Virginia was invitation-only.
The White House presented the Libby decision as a non-political compromise.
A well-connected source in Washington challenged the consensus that Mr Bush's poll ratings, at just under 30%, could not fall much further because that figure represented bedrock Republican support. The source said commuting Mr Libby's sentence, a popular move among Republicans, was a panic measure after an alarming erosion in support, mainly because of hostility to the immigration plan.
Mr Domenici's withdrawal of support followed the desertion of the Republican senator Richard Lugar last week, also over Iraq. About 50% of the sitting Republican senators face re-election in November next year and their constituents have made them well aware of how unpopular the Iraq war is.
The White House yesterday expressed disappointment, saying it had hoped the senators would not go public with their frustration before September, when the army and others report back on whether Mr Bush's "surge" strategy is working.
Steve Clemons, head of the progressive thinktank the New America Foundation, has heard the reports of Mr Bush's decline in power and is sceptical.
He cautioned: "Even though he has lost some ability to dictate events, he is still capable of deploying major influence on the big issues. We went through the same thing with [Vice-president Dick] Cheney when people thought he was down and out. I think it is a big mistake to think Bush is now powerless."
With little positive to show from six years in office, Mr Bush has been talking up his transformation of the supreme court as his legacy. He has given it a strong rightwing bias, demonstrated by rulings on abortion, employment discrimination and rejection of death penalty appeals. That will please Republicans, at least.
But Prof Dallek remains unimpressed. Rating the worst presidents, he said: "Hoover was a disaster. Warren Harding rates very low in the pantheon of presidents and it is likely that Bush will be seen as a bottom feeder."

When the Democrats refuse to enforce the constitution by letting Bush/Cheney get by with their crimes, they are complicit in the obstruction and crimes. I will never vote for another democrat that refuses to get behind this impeachment. It is imperative for the healing of this nation that we, at least, go through the process. If not, no American will believe there is justice with either party. It is the Democrats' constitutional duty to impeach this president when the crimes are so obvious. To choose not to do this because they fear they it will go against them and they won't get elected, is reason to not vote for them. (We already know this anyway, but this is further evidence that the Democrats are no different when it comes to respecting the law.)
It appear that the poll numbers being higher for Cheney reflects another important aspect, meaning, the public seems to be well aware that the real president is Mr Cheney and not Bush. As I read somewhere, Cheney decides what Bush should decide on.
But, hey, the poll was conducted among the American citizens, and as usual it won't cut butter. Would someone please conduct a poll among the citizens of corporations, like Nancy Pelocy, members of Congress, and the rest of the gang?
Well, so much for the notion that Americans by and large aren't progressives. This article is another shot at that canard...

So since the right disenfranchises people, the left should do it also?
How "enlightened".
Since Nancy Pelosi is a do nothing, stubborn idiot, and won't consider impeachment, maybe Bush will follow Nixon's lead and resign. You know who I really feel sorry for? The poor Secret Service guys who will have to put up with Bush as long as he lives. Now there is a thankless BORING job. You couldn't pay me enough to do that.
What will it take to impeach these two clowns (Bush-Cheney)? Does some intern have to give them a blow job?
They probably all work for Halliburton...
To David B's question as to whether or not Bush/Cheney can be impeached for more than one offense? Francis A. Boyle, Professor of Law at the University of Illinois School of Law, answers this question as follows:

1st Session
Impeaching George Walker Bush, President of the United States, of high crimes and misdemeanors.
_______________________________________________
IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
January __, 2003
Mr./Ms. Y submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Judiciary.
________________________________________________
A RESOLUTION
Impeaching George Walker Bush, President of the United States, of high crimes and misdemeanors.
Impeaching George Walker Bush, President of the United States, of high crimes and misdemeanors.
Resolved, That George Walker Bush, President of the United States is impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors, and that the following articles of impeachment be exhibited to the Senate:
Articles of impeachment exhibited by the House of Representatives of the United States of America in the name of itself and of all of the people of the United States of America, against George Walker Bush, President of the United States of America, in maintenance and support of its impeachment against him for high crimes and misdemeanors.
ARTICLE I
In the conduct of the office of President of the United States, George Walker Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has attempted to impose a police state and a military dictatorship upon the people and Republic of the United States of America by means of "a long Train of Abuses and Usurpations" against the Constitution since September 11, 2001. This subversive conduct includes but is not limited to trying to suspend the constitutional Writ of Habeas Corpus; ramming the totalitarian U.S.A. Patriot Act through Congress; the mass-round-up and incarceration of foreigners; kangaroo courts; depriving at least two United States citizens of their constitutional rights by means of military incarceration; interference with the constitutional right of defendants in criminal cases to lawyers; violating and subverting the Posse Comitatus Act; unlawful and unreasonable searches and seizures; violating the First Amendments rights of the free exercise of religion, freedom of speech, peaceable assembly, and to petition the government for redress of grievances; packing the federal judiciary with hand-picked judges belonging to the totalitarian Federalist Society and undermining the judicial independence of the Constitution's Article III federal court system; violating the Third and Fourth Geneva Conventions and the U.S. War Crimes Act; violating the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination; reinstitution of the infamous "Cointelpro" Program; violating the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, the Convention against Torture, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; instituting the totalitarian Total Information Awareness Program; and establishing a totalitarian Northern Military Command for the United States of America itself. In all of this George Walker Bush has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.
Wherefore George Walker Bush, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office.
ARTICLE II
In the conduct of the office of President of the United States, George Walker Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution. U.S. soldiers in the Middle East are overwhelmingly poor White, Black, and Latino and their military service is based on the coercion of a system that has denied viable economic opportunities to these classes of citizens. Under the Constitution, all classes of citizens are guaranteed equal protection of the laws, and calling on the poor and minorities to fight a war for oil to preserve the lifestyles of the wealthy power elite of this country is a denial of the rights of these soldiers.
ARTICLE III
In the conduct of the office of President of the United States, George Walker Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has violated the U.S. Constitution, federal law, and the United Nations Charter by bribing, intimidating and threatening others, including the members of the United Nations Security Council, to support belligerent acts against Iraq.
ARTICLE IV
In the conduct of the office of President of the United States, George Walker Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has prepared, planned, and conspired to engage in a massive war and catastrophic aggression against Iraq by employing methods of mass destruction that will result in the killing of hundreds of thousands of civilians, many of whom will be children. This planning includes the threatened use of nuclear weapons, and the use of such indiscriminate weapons and massive killings by aerial bombardment, or otherwise, of civilians, violates the Hague Regulations on land warfare, the rules of customary international law set forth in the Hague Rules of Air Warfare, the Four Geneva Conventions of 1949 and Protocol I thereto, the Nuremberg Charter, Judgment, and Principles, the Genocide Convention, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and U.S. Army Field Manual 27-10 (1956).
ARTICLE V
In the conduct of the office of President of the United States, George Walker Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has committed the United States to acts of war without congressional consent and contrary to the United Nations Charter and international law. From September, 2001 through January, 2003, the President embarked on a course of action that systematically eliminated every option for peaceful resolution of the Persian Gulf crisis. Once the President approached Congress for consent to war, tens of thousands of American soldiers' lives were in jeopardy - rendering any substantive debate by Congress meaningless. The President has not received a Declaration of War by Congress, and in contravention of the written word, the spirit, and the intent of the U.S. Constitution has declared that he will go to war regardless of the views of the American people. In failing to seek and obtain a Declaration of War, George Walker Bush has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.
Wherefore George Walker Bush, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office.
ARTICLE VI
In the conduct of the office of President of the United States, George Walker Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has planned, prepared, and conspired to commit crimes against the peace by leading the United States into aggressive war against Iraq in violation of Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter, the Nuremberg Charter, Judgment, and Principles, the Kellogg-Brand Pact, U.S. Army Field Manual 27-10 (1956), numerous other international treaties and agreements, and the Constitution of the United States.

HOW DO I IMPEACH THEE? LET ME COUNT THE WAYS!!!!!!
Yesterday I listed (on the article regarding the "Impeachment Office" that was opened at the Beverly Center in Los Angeles) the list of every member of the House Committee on the Judiciary. They are responsible to bring impeachment proceedings. Sadly, my Congressional representative (Jane Harman, (D), 36th Congressional District - California), is not on this committee, but I did send her this email today to lobby her on not only impeachment, but much more. Perhaps my letter will inspire my fellow Commondreams posters to write their representatives. Here it is:
Dear Jane:
I just spoke to your assistant in the El Segundo office regarding the issue of Impeachment of President Bush and Vice-President Cheney.
You have to be aware of the sentiments in the public right now regarding this issue. It's all over the Internet and when I speak to people in the area I'm visiting (Connecticut) at this time I am not surprised to hear the disgust people are sharing with me at the fact that the Congress is doing NOTHING to challenge the blatant acts of criminality at the highest levels of our government.
People I speak with think Bush and Cheney are criminals Jane! Criminals! There's a virtual cornucopia of reasons for this. People doubt the 9-11 Commission report. I am shocked at how many believe our own government was involved in the events of 9-11. More and more films are coming out about this issue. I'm sure you've seen "Loose Change the 2nd Edition". It's on Google. And 3 wives of husbands killed at the World Trade Centers who are referred to as "The Jersey Girls" made a documentary which is sobering. There are now HUNDREDS of physicists, engineers, pilots, witnesses etc. whose public testimony totally contradicts the 9-11 Commission report. This is very troubling to me and many others.
Out of the 9-11 crime against the American people, The Patriot Act was rammed through and signed into law without even being read?! Many of our Bill of Rights were stripped away without a fight? How can this stand Jane? I listened to attorney Michael Ratner on "Guns and Butter" with Bonnie Faulkner on KPFA out of Berkeley on the 4th of July go down the list of our Bill of Rights and explain how every single one has been ripped away. You can hear his comments by going to the website.
The fact that the War in Iraq was started based on lies and the Congress is doing nothing to make those who are responsible for this pay the price?! Then Libby's sentence is commuted by Bush?! This is all so outrageous. To think that the entire Congress is not standing up to defend the U.S. Constitution is frightening to me.
The torture going on, renditions of human beings to foreign countries who sanction torture? This is not what this country stands for Jane. Our country has become an international embarrassment.
Blackwater private contractors fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, our soldiers coming home to horrible medical care. Who are these mercenaries? These "soldiers of fortune" and why are they allowed to be trained right here in the United States? Is it true that KBR Root, a subsidiary of Halliburton has built over 600 "internment" camps here in the United States? For what purpose Jane? What on Earth is going on here?
Then I heard, what I thought were respected Democrats like Feingold, Levin and Feinstein questioning the counsel for the CIA, Rizzo on C-SPAN about the constitutionality and legality of torture and they let him wiggle right on by them! I was in shock that they didn't challenge him! Why didn't they??
Spying on Americans, "sneak and peek" is legal??! No warrants?! Honestly.
The use of depleted uranium in Iraq and Afghanistan in our bombs? And while I'm on the subject of us poisoning the planet forever with DU, what on Earth are all the chemtrails about? There are jets spewing a white substance out of jets that is lingering in the sky and causing the sky to form wisps of white overcast clouds. This is definitely not CONTRAILS which quickly dissipate. Various websites say there is aluminum being pumped into the atmosphere? What are these chemtrails, why is this being done and under whose authority? This should be stopped immediately. And frankly, it's not only troubling that there are chemicals being pumped out of planes into our air, but the beautiful blue sky turns from azur to wispy white. It's wrong. It's a human right to see the natural world as God made it.
Various bird populations are dwindling, bees are dying, GMO crops are contaminating the last "natural" seeds God gave us!
And then I read yet ANOTHER thing Cheney is guilty of! Because of "politics" he caused 80,000 adult salmon to die in a water diversion. Salmon that are endangered. This is all so outrageous!
I'm writing all this to tell you and your Congressional colleagues that people out here are upset and deeply troubled with especially Democrats "going along to get along" with Presidential Directives that give Bush dictatorial powers (signed on May 9th of this year)! Why only a tiny blurb about this in the Washington Post with no outcry from Congress??! Even Marjorie Cohn, the President of the National Lawyer's Guild wrote a scathing article about this Directive. Are you aware of this?
Jane, I don't need to be telling you all this. You are obviously bright and well-read. You must have a fantastic staff of researchers and others who are all too well aware of everything I am saying.
If you'd like to see the Jersey Girls documentary I will send you a copy. It's called "9/11 Press for Truth".
No matter what "political" reasons you, Nancy Pelosi, John Conyers and other Democrats may have for keeping impeachment of Bush and Cheney "off the table", it is really not acceptable. For all intents and purposes the majority of the American people and people all over the world are wondering why we would allow a CRIMINAL CABAL to continue their reign of terror in this country and in Iraq and Afghanistan? To think that Bush said that the U.S. Constitution is just "a Goddamned piece of paper."!!
We are staring at war with Iran, Syria and perhaps even Venezuela?! The formation of a North American Union in September? With a new currency coming?! Is this all true?
I am trying to understand what on Earth is going on here Jane? Can you please explain your positions on all these issues to me?
Please raise your voice for truth and justice Jane. Please urge the leadership of the Committee on the Judiciary to begin impeachment proceedings with all due haste. Even if there aren't the votes at this moment, once the necessary investigations are completed and the truth comes out, I believe you will see a sea change with not only Democrats, but also many Republicans supporting the impeachment of Bush and Cheney. The Congress owes the People the truth, and an investigation with subpeona power is the only way to find it.
Bush and Cheney's hands need to be tied (preferable behind their backs!) NOW before any more damage is done to our country and the planet.
With sincerity and the deepest of concerns,
"Abbybwood"
Word to Nancy Pelosi. The people are WAY ahead of you on this one. It's not just your consituents who want Bush and Cheney impeached (we passed a voter intiative here in San Francisco demanding impeachment) but it's also the nation at large. Do your sworn duty to protect the Constitution! You do not have the right to take impeachment off the table. IMPEACH! IMPEACH! IMPEACH!
you must impeach dickey boy first and then gerogery boy next second! Other wise gerogery boy will just pardon him
there would be more success with impeachment if the focus were to get the republicans to impeach pelosi for not enforcing the laws. and there is a case that cheney/bush should be impeached and pelosi is ignoring the evidence.
Even if Cheney/Bush were to be impeached on the morning of their last day in office, it would still be worth it
`If we do this, and it feels good to me right now Iwe don,t get the required number of sen. to find them guilty, then watch because Mr. Bush will do something to pay us back for trying.ie. attack Iran, drop a nuke somewhere,All I,m saying is, if we do this we must be certain we can win!!!!!!
KUCINICH WANT TO IMPEACH! ASK YOUR REPS TO CO-SPONSOR HIS BILL!!!
The book is:
THE TORTURE PAPERS
The Road to Abu Ghraib
Edited by Karen J. Greenberg and Joshua L. Dratel. Introduction by Anthony Lewis.
Illustrated. 1249 pages. Cambridge University Press. $50.
I do not mean to switch subjects, and thanks for pointing out the 40% neanderthals, but a judge just gave the D.C. Madam the green light to disperse the names and telephone numbers of people involved in this prostitution ring, and apparently the list includes the names of 50-100 high profile politicians. Of course they will try to buy her silence, but should she refuse and distribute the list, it could put an interesting twist on the political pathos.
Punish the Baptists, the baptists, they are responsable for the world-mess. that's right Baptists and southern-baptists people are EVIL, they are the real evil doers of USA
re: Nancy - I am hoping she is a good egg and is just moving strategically. Impeachment "not on the table" gains the sympathy of those to whom it was unthinkable...before....the numbers are growing, with each indictment, each blatant, obvious misstep..when it will be out of necessity, because of the throngs of people (esp. in Sept. in DC who take this seriously) this women will find the words delicious: "The president has been impeached!"
Why can't i post anything here about 9/11.
what will change the minds of the neanderthals?
watching the loose change movie the 2nd edtion
Oh, it's the website addresses it doesn't like:
Watching non corporate media helps Free Speech TV Democracy Now which you can watch on your puter!
As I wrote elsewhere earlier to day. . .
Cheney and Bush need to be impeached. Our troops need to be brought home and be given full support in their recovery from this tragedy. We, as a country, need to make a sincere apology to the Iraqis, to all the people of the Middle East, to all Muslims, and to the whole world for our disgusting behavior, and we need to begin making amends to Iraq in whatever ways we can - without causing any further problems for them.
iwarrior;
So YOU would marginalise WITH violence, would you? Just as the Neanderthals do to Progressives with their Blackwater armies and their militarised armies of cops?
DON'T TWIST MY WORDS!
Your campaign of misinforamtion, and probably hatred towards me as an non-white intellectual will not work. Your method of shooting down any and all sensible progressive ideas by picking out words and phrases out of context, and convoluting their meaning with your sick mind will not work any more with your Limbaugh patented sound bites. If you look through all your posts, you are simply diguised neo-con. You simply cannot conduct a debate or discussion in a sensible and courteous manner, and so I am giving you a taste of your own medicine, but with much more knowledge content than all your past posts put together.
I said IMPLICITLY in my post, and if you look at my previous posts you will see the details, the economic situation will teach many, probably 60-70% of the Neanderthals that the a Nation Of Progressive values is very prosperous, happy and living well without harming the environment and other humans and life forms.
These values are:
Universal Health Care Universal Education;
Corporations that have NO personhood under a new Progressive Constitution and monitored by watchdogs so that they do not become Managerial Capitalist Feudal Kingdoms, law unto themselves with the CEO as emperor-dictator, who don't give a damn for the little shareholder from whose pension plans they derive much of their capital;
Stringent ACCOUNTABILITY and not the wishy- washy system under a neo-con SEC;
NO Federal Reserve issuing paper money without foundation;
Guarnteed home ownership with Government as "Insurer of Last Resort" for families in genuine need;
NO Military Industrial Complex and standing armies with gargantuan defence budgets - - learn from the Swedes how they feel secure with mother Russia next door;
and so on and so forth.
When the Neanderthal see this live experimnt unfold before their eyes in ,say, 60% of the US states and communities living mostly on the WEST and EAST COASTS, and Nothern tier States bordering Canada, in probably a DE FACTO seprate collectivity of states with the Neanderthals concentrated in the South and Lower Midwest; and they see how happy Progressive people are, enjoying the great education opportunities and health care, and they look back on their own Neandertal region, then they will voluntariliy come over to the progressive side in 10, at most 15 years.
Who would want to live hand- to- mouth in throwback region that teaches Judeo-Chrosto anthropmorhic CREATIONISM rather than genuine science; that enforces belief that CHRIST IS COMING BACK; and the world shunning them as they are the BUSH/CHenney Legacy. The world is moving fast and it will deal with know-nothing stupidity and war mongering of the Neanderthals harshly, not militarily but economically.
What will they trade with? Their hand sewn Confederate flags to import science, technology, medicine from the rest of the world? They will have very few, and substitutable high knowkedge products that the world can buy from their Progressive neighbours in higher quality and better price.
THAT IS WHAT I MEANT BY ECONOMIC MARGINALISATION. And YES, THAT IS MUCH MORE ENLIGHTENED than your violent methods.
If YOU think you are JESUS CHRIST, well then go to NEANDERTHAL LAND and preach your brand of dummy "enlightenment". You will have good company. Perhaps by miracle, you may even succeed after a thousand years (probably they will revise their Pat Robertson bible to replace Noah with "iwarrior"). Thousands upon thousands of active, well meaning progressive people such as Cindy Sheehan have failed over six years. Actually, why don't you go over and first preach to Nancy Pelosi - - she is still 70% progressive and 30% opportunist (which is still better than Neanderthal) - - to impeach the Neanderthals Dons who rule over America like the Mafia. If you succeed with just Pelosi, you have some credibility to mouth of from some other place than the seat of your pants.
Until then, the concept of HUMANELY marginalising these folks so that they learn their own lessons and become enlightened by observation as I have put forward is far better than civil war, breaking into the White House and other such counter productive, head -in-the ass strategies that you advocate. What a cretinous name - - "iwarrior" - - shows you real preferences.
NIXON HAD MORE SENSE THAN BUSH. NIXON RESIGNED. SURPRIZING THAT THE GOP ELITE HASN'T MADE A TRIP TO THE WHITE HOUSE TO SHOW BUSH THE LIGHT.
Abbybwood,
One article of impeachment was missing as follows:
ARTICLW VII
This sucker in violation of the UN Charter and other applicable international laws has threatened to attack Iran further braying to put everything on the table expressly meaning the use of nuclear weapons, which would destroy innumerable human life and pollute the environment for generations to come and for thousands of years. Wherefore, we demand that this son of a bush be impeached, removed from office, and be served with a drink of radioactive substance.
Hey, look at Cheney's photo again. Doesn't it look like someone in a casket raised horizontally?
omgod! that's so scary! the undertaker and the undertakee!
those people, the 40% folks are the usual
arrogant,greedy,ignorant,obese,xenophobic USA idiots
the ones that need to go away, fish bait, revolucion, hang them, whatever...
so there may be some future for some of us that wants kids
[but NOT the normal kid in USA now, idiotic my space,Idol wanna be's with cell phones, vid games and wanting it all NOW, w/o working for it; please]
I agree with one of the above posts. I will NEVER vote for any democrat who doesn't support impeachment. And can you imagine the Secret Service agents that have to worry about taking bullets for these scum? One would think THEY would rise up and do their duty and arrest them. Once they're in handcuffs, the rest is a done deal.
So Many Politicians, So Little Rope...
Saila,
The photo is creepy. To me, it looks more like his hemherroids are flaring up again and he just does not anyone to notice.
Am I the only one who has read that the International Red Cross has brought suit against Bush, Cheney, et al for crimes against humanity?
The "et al" is important because that includes everyone in the Senate and House who voted for going to war against Iraq. That is everyone.
So, why does anyone think Nancy Pelosi, who voted to go to war and Hillary Clinton, who voted to go to war, want to impeach George and Cheney?
I bet nobody wonders why the Bushes bought that 98,000 acres in Paraguay following the Paraguayan government's resolution and subsequent vote to make their country a country that would not honor extradiction of criminals.
Our government is a government of criminals. They have committed crimes against humanity. They need to be gone. They need to face trial at the International Court. We absolutely need a new government and we need to get rid of lobbiests...maybe we need to reconfigure the whole government...cripes, it boggles the mind!!
I understand the CRIMES. What are the Misdemeanors? Is there such a thing when in such a lofty office? Let's bring 'em down on the CRIMES & forgive their.... parking tickets?
What's this about the Red Cross? More info please
What the hell is wrong with USA with 46% supporting Bush? I mean i thought that his popularity was 23%, will americans have to face and stand deep hunger, deep starvation and a deep crisis in order for the xenophobic baptists and bigot reactionary capitalists who support Bush to get a total divorced from Bush and the Democ-rats mafia-party system? I don't know why most americans even poor americans are so confused. Maybe they don't have internet, or they haven't seen good sites like www.marxist.com or www.whatreallyhappened.com
