Summer of Love '07: On a Journey for Humanity
The other day I came out of my short retirement due to yet another Bush flagrant abuse of power. We decided that we would walk from Atlanta to DC to gather a people's movement for humanity. The longer BushCo are in office the less chance we have of recovering the heart and soul of our nation, saving our soldiers and the people of Iraq and Afghanistan, and saving the planet from corporate and individual waste and pollution. Impeachment, removal from office, and in a perfect world: incarceration for the criminals against humanity, are urgent and necessary steps that need to be taken today.Since the announcement of the Walk, circumstances have changed. Rev. Lennox Yearwood is not going to have his hearing for Conduct Unbecoming until the end of August, and we were going to begin our walk after his hearing on July 12th in Macon, GA. So consequently, we are going to begin our Journey on July 10th in Crawford, Texas.
Our Journey will take us through places such as Ft. Benning, GA, and New Orleans where Bush Crimes have had such a deeply detrimental affect on people. Torture and the continued criminal lack of help for the people of the Gulf States are two of BushCo's more heinous crimes.
Our Journey will also take us to House Judiciary committee members' offices where we will sit-in and demand that they institute Articles of Impeachment against Bush and Cheney immediately. On July 23rd, we will be in Congressman John Conyers' office to encourage him to take the lead on impeachment. A sit-in in his office is possible and likely.
The US part of our Journey will end in New York City where on July 27th we will stage a demonstration in front of the UN to highlight the refugee crisis in the Middle East caused by the Bush High Crime Cabal. There are millions of people displaced by the atrocity in Iraq and, no matter what former US Ambassador and leading neo-con war criminal, John Bolton says: the US does owe the people of Iraq more than we can ever repay. The very least we owe them, though, is a relatively safe country to live in and basic human rights like: homes, food, clean water and medical care.
On July 29th, we will be re-creating the Summer of Love and hold a "Gather-in of Hearts" in Central Park with leading activists and musical entertainment. Proceeds will go to Iraqi Refugees and for medical supplies for Iraqi hospitals.
When we are finished in NYC, a few of us will be Journeying to Amman, Jordan to help refugees in Jordan and Syria. We will visit the camps to assess the depth of the humanitarian crisis that is causing so many children to unnecessarily and tragically suffer. We have so much in this country. How can we allow our brothers and sisters to go without basics? Who can sleep comfortably at night and enjoy three square meals a day when other people only have moldy bread to eat and are starving? Do you think of the people of Iraq and the refugees literally dying of thirst when you go to turn on your tap for plentiful, clean water? Our animals here in the US are treated better than many humans on our planet. As MLK, Jr said in his speech at the Riverside Church on April 04, 1967: "My government is the biggest purveyor of violence." Our government has killed enough people to populate many small states in the US and has forced millions more to flee their places of birth. Our governments will never change, but our hearts can and we can do much to alleviate suffering and change the world.
Since I announced the Journey for Humanity, I have received a lot of support and encouragement, and many "I'll be with you in spirits." We appreciate your moral support, but we need your bodies and your dollars if you can't participate. Our world is in an environmental, political and humanitarian state of emergency at this point and participation in a People's Movement for Change, Justice and Humanity is becoming mandatory by our membership in the Human Race.
Our route and flyer for the "Gather-in of Hearts" is posted at Camp Casey Peace Institute. Donations can also be made there. Visit our MySpace page and be our friend!
We also need volunteers in cities along the route to help coordinate rallies/actions and food/ housing for walkers. To volunteer, e-mail Dede Miller at tiggerloli@aol.com or call: 562-912-5838 (we don't take blocked calls.)

Cindy, you are an angel in disguise as a U.S. citizen. Cindy, if you ran for President I vote for you anytime. Cindy, careful the people that stopped JFK, Robert Kennedy, John Jr.Kennedy, Malcom X, Martin Luther King, Vincent Foster, Gary Web, Paul Wellstone are still lurking in the dark. Vampires ready to strike. We, the people think it easy its not, war is a profit and the people in power will not relinquish power so easy. They will manipulate the press and distort reality your walk is one step in a journey of a thousand miles. But, as I said, before you are an angel disguised as one of us.
Does anyone else think it's stupid to March to DC and stay just 1 day. Why not stay all summer?
What do Bush, Cheney & Pelosi want? They want Cindy and the marchers to leave ASAP... so why is she doing exacly what they want?
Would someone please join this march and call out Cindy/Medea on the stupidity of marching to DC for a day. Why not STAY AS LONG AS IT TAKES !
In fact, I have just decided for myself. Every day this Summer of Love '07 walking journey is occurring, I commit, rain or shine, hot & hazy, day or night, to walk. I'm am going to be a "walking house".
Peace,
Ken Hausle

*** time, oh time........
PJD: I noticed the same thing about the distances, but then it occurred to me that they must not be trying to cover these distances in a single day. Houston to New Orleans -- that is a serious walk. Assuming the average walker can go about 2-4 miles per hour, we are talking several days here for someone to make the complete journey.
So it seems to me what will end up happening is that there will be several walks all going on simultanously. I think that is cool. It is both local and national. Heck, why not have local areas participate in their own walks. Heck, why not do your own personal walk on these days. Walk around the neighborhood. Meet and talk to other folks. Communicate with your neighbor - ya know?
Presumably Cindy will be at all of the starting off points - which I'm curious what these are also. This is happening soon (starting next Tuesday) and for people to participate they are going to need to know the details.
What I think would be awesome is if the participation levels increase as each day progresses and as word gets out. Some serious news coverage of this would be awesome and in the national interest I might add.
Peace,
Ken Hausle

**** time is a ticking ****
Well it seems from the impossible distances to cover that is isn't actually a walk, it is multi-city rally tour. And I suspect Cindy is expecting the individual cities to do the work - so let's get to it.
Let us laugh a little bit. There are still naive people around who still believe in pré-fascist era oddities such as 'Official Petitions' and 'Impeachment'and 'Congress' and 'Constitution'and 'Bill of Rights'. Please wake up to the reality. How many more times should the gangsters ruling over this innocent nation spit on your face before you realize that you and your Founding Fathers's dreams do not count any more. Time has come to go after them bastards who masterminded 9/11 and Irqi war and catch them and lynch them. This is the only way to restore the Laws of the Land and bring back dignity and honor to the USA. Cindy's march is about a revolution largely overdue. It is not about niceties. It is seroius matter.God Bless USA. God bless Cindy.Good luck to Cindy and her Friends on the road to victory
All I ask, Cindy, is that you avoid letting the Democrats cynically exploit your cause again.
"Cindy, wish you well on your walk, hope it does some good."
SHE DOESNT WANT YOUR GODDAMN WELL WISHES! SHE WANTS YOU TO JOIN THE MARCH!
I hereby deputize Cindy and ALL AMERICAN CITIZENS for the SOLE PURPOSE OF ARRESTING AND INCARCERATING Bu$h/Cheney/Pelo$i/Gonzales and any other TRAITORS FOUND DURING THE "PEACE WALK".
If I had to pick one issue that concerns me because it impacts all the others, it's big money and political campaign financing - which, of course, that recent Supreme Court decision on political ads has made that much worse.
And if there's one aspect of Bush's "legacy" that may concern me most, it's his court appointees. Of course in this case, it's hard to pick just one aspect...
Cindy, wish you well on your walk, hope it does some good.
Though since reading a previous article on Jeffersonian Revolution, it now seems, well, a little bit lame.
Cindy kicks ass. she brought life into the movement
Cindy's got more Courage than the whole Congress put together.
Joy Goldstein: You're talking my language, now! Let's hit em' where it hurts, in the pocketbook! A massive General Strike is what this country needs.
If you think we should arrest Bush and Cheney, then what about the Congress that voted to give George the OK for WAR?
We can't rebel against a well-armed military obviously... all we can do is stop WORKING and stop SHOPPING and BUYING FRIGGIN GAS!! then they will surely notice. Yeah, revolution is a bitch!
See you in Atlanta!
How about a General Strike on the 23rd when the walk is in DC? A lot of us, especially in the west, can't get to the walk, even if we do send $$$. But we can all stay home and write letters.
Come on people, quit your day jobs if you have to! They've taken our habeas corpus, they're imprisoning and stripping the civil rights of our most vulnerable by the millions, they're firing Department of Justice members for opposing the king's wishes... and so on forever unless we step up to this. Scooter Libby's commutation feels like a slap in my face, how about you? We the people are the last line of defense against tyranny. It's time.
I'll meet you in Charlottesville - wish I could make it sooner. God bless Cindy Sheehan.
Cindy, I'm so pleased your retirement was short. Please keep up your good work. You've paid such remarkable prices on so many personal fronts, I just want you to know many Americans support your every move, and want you to succeed at getting our country back.
As a Viet Nam Era vet, ex cop, I'm so very sorry for your loss of Casey and the other losses to all the moms and dads from all countries involved. My grim screen name is what came to mind when thinking of justice in America's present situation.
OK America. Cindy is back. Let's get off our asses and help out this time. If you can't walk, donate. And tell your friends. I just did. I'll keep contributing until America is free from those creepy evil doers. RISE UP! DON'T USE THE EXCUSE I CAN'T HELP BECAUSE I CAN'T GET TO TEXAS any more. Open your wallets now. Organize. Let's help us help ourselves take back our country. THANK YOU CINDY!!!!!
Thank you Cindy for standing up for your son and for the dignity of this country! You are changing hearts and minds with your journey! I believe in you!

Dear Cindy: Arrest Bush and Cheney.
we boomers were right---right about civil rights, right about the quagmire in southeast asia, right about women's rights and right about the environment. how fitting that we observe the 40th anniversary of the summer of love by proclaiming loudly and proudly that we're right again about bush, iraq and impeachment.
our values have stood the test of time. "the fires of eden still burn..."
So, this isn't going to be a walk (Houston to New Orleans in a day?), it is going to be a travelling rally - with the PRIME RESPONSIBILITY for orgainzing the rallys belonging to the people in the individual cities. Get it?
Also, I think Cindy referring to the Lynchburg in Virginia (not N. Carolina) - home of the late Falwell's Megachurch and Liberty University - tough place to organize.
Now, I'll definitely be in Arlington/DC on July 23 (a Monday - good day to interrupt business as usual). But, as someone who is a bit familiar with the orgainzing process, there is not nearly enough lead time to organize this properly. Just getting flyers out and busses reserved for getting to the DC part of the trip, during this heavy travel season is going to be a challenge.
Beautiful Cindy!
Nobody can keep a great person like you down!

You are irrepressible, Cindy. The republic of America will be saved by Americans like you.
YOU GO GIRL! If I could walk better I'd go with you.
The beauty of this walk is that People will be out and doing something physical to convey deeply held sentiment that something is seriously wrong. Plus folks will be communicating with peaceful but determined action that its high time for the tide to turn.
Jefferson was a swell fella, but I just don't see how any violence is going to enable a change that brings about peace. Lets be creative. The tools of communication available now could not have even been imagined in Jefferson's time. Walking is inherently peaceful in nature and folks will be talking and rubbing shoulders along the way.
Bravo to the organizers & Viva to the Walkers !!!!!!!!
I hope there is plenty of water along the routes because it is going to be toasty hot in the middle of July. I just wish I could be along on July 23rd when the Walkers depart from Arlington Cemetary destined towards the white House (how appropriate), but I plan on being there in spirit and will say a prayer for peace in honor of the Walkers.
Lastly, I just want to add that I plan on doing some serious "walking" myself (if necessary) later in the summer. This is exciting.
Peace,
Ken Hausle

***** time is of the essence *****
Can't make the whole walk, but certainly plan to be in NYC for the finale! Cindy, you rock! I understand how much of your life you have dedicated to making the rest of us wake up to the atrocities of GWB's presidency/dictatorship. You are the catalyst that will get many Americans off their 'yelling at the TV and feeling helpless' butts.
Maybe this is how to get some official petitions started to either impeach or try Bush/Cheney for treason and make our voices truly heard 'round the world.
