Call Out The Instigator
Call out the Instigator
Because there's something in the air
We got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here
You know it's right!

I'm not backing off. I tried to remove myself from the political realm of the US, what BushCo is turning into an Evil Empire, but the blatant audacity of George commuting Scooter's sentence (he's not ruling out a full pardon ---and you know he will) has dragged me kicking and screaming back in. I can't sit back and let this BushCo drag our country further down into the murky quagmire of Fascism and violence, taking the rest of the world with them!
I have sat quietly back these past five weeks as the slaughter in Iraq sorrowfully surges along with George's bloody escalation---and as the philosophical opposition to the war has soared to almost four out of every five Americans. I have remained silent when Senator Barack Obama said that impeachment is only reserved for "grave, grave" breeches! Well, BushCo has created hundreds of thousands of graves dug by their lies and greed. For cripes' sake, George admitted to breaking the FISA Act (which is a felony) that also breeched the 4th Amendment to our Constitution that already prohibited illegal search and seizure. How was Bill Clinton's offense graver than George's, Dick's, or Scooter's? Did we ever think that the criminality and arrogance of the Nixon White House would be eclipsed in our time with nary a "baaaah" from the Sheeple in Congress?
George has said that America doesn't "do torture" when we have all seen the images of torture from Abu Ghraib (don't believe your lyin' eyes) and know that hundreds of people sold to the US Army for an immoral bounty are incarcerated within the inhumane confines of Guantanamo Prison which is right in our own back yard.
I have had to bite my tongue -- HARD -- as the George and Dick crime cabal, (formerly known has the executive branch) have claimed that their offices are not to be held up to the same standards of accountability and control as any other entity in the human race, governmental or private.
It has been recently reported that Nancy Pelosi said that impeachment is not "worth it." Her faulty reasoning is that impeachment would take too much time because they don't have the votes. If they could "whip" their own Democratic caucus into shape to defend and protect our Constitution and the people of Iraq and our soldiers as they whupped, cajoled, threatened and browbeat the caucus into attaching "non-binding" time lines onto the last war funding bill, then impeachment would not only be possible, but likely.
The recent commutation of I. Scooter Libby's sentence, however, was the straw that broke my camel's back of exhausted ennui. Patrick Fitzgerald is a thoughtful and thorough prosecutor who did a heroic job of bringing at least one of the Bush Crime Mob to justice. Even though we were all very pleased, we knew that it was not enough and that Mr. Fitzgerald would delve deeper into the feces infested executive branch. The lawlessness of the Bush Administration has reached wild west proportions and the inmates definitely have control of the US(A)sylum.
A very dear friend of mine, Rev. Lennox Yearwood of the Hip Hop Caucus, is being harassed by the Air Force for "Conduct Unbecoming an Officer and a Gentleman" because "The Rev" fulfills his duty as an Officer and a Gentleman honorably by protesting Iraq and the Fascist Bush Regime almost constantly. The Rev is still in Individual Ready Reserve so the Air Force believes it is within its parameters to pursue the charges, although every "Officer and Gentleman(woman)" should be protesting the atrocious mistakes in the Middle East. After The Rev's hearing on July 12th, (in Macon, GA) he is going to begin a "symbolic" walk from the Reverend Martin Luther King's grave (Atlanta, GA) to DC -- I am going to be there for him and to begin the march, but I am not going to make it symbolic.
We are going to walk from Atlanta, GA to Congress beginning July 13th and ending up in DC on July 23rd to send the mis-leaders back home to face the music of justice in their own districts.
It is about time us "peasants" (in the eyes of the Fascist Ruling Elite) march on DC with our "pitchforks" of righteous anger and our "torches" of truth to demand the ouster of BushCo. I have a dream of the detention centers that George has built and filled being instead filled with Orange Clad neo-cons and neo-connettes.
If Congress won't dig BushCo's political grave, it is the People's job to do so. Thomas Jefferson said that we need a Revolution every 20 years, or so, to keep our Republic honest. Over 225 years have passed since our last Revolution (if you don't count the War Between the States) and we are long overdue for one. Turn off your TVs, kiss your pets goodbye, bring the kids and flock to the federal seat of corruption, or join us on our walk there, for a People's Accountability Movement to be in the face of the Criminal BushCo and the Complicit Congress for the last week of session before they go on their undeserved vacations (why do they get vacations when the Iraqi parliamentarians don't?)
On the eve of our first revolution: You know it's right!
Author's note: Please, I already see "Attention Whore Back." If anyone thinks that I am going to walk hundreds of miles in the Deep South during July for attention, then please join us! We will be publishing our route and plans for Accountability events along the way, within the next few days. Stay tuned.

Show AllWhat I like about Cindy is that she doesn't do the political calculation thing before standing for something. This is the kind of intrepid character that the founding fathers must have had when they went up against the British Empire of the seventeenth century. Cindy may have her vulnerabilities but I'll take her anytime over the party operatives. Hey Cindy please also stand for taking the $$ out of politics.
Fellow Americans and global citizens:
Thanks for your input relative to Ms. Sheehan´s article.
Now Hear This.
1. You will not achieve the end of the global tyranny of the corporate criminal few by "demonstrating" for "impeachment" of a lame-duck criminal representative of same.
2. You will not achieve a government of, by, and for, the people by continuing to tread the worn out and clearly corrupted bogus "electoral" mechanisms of our ill fated nationstate.
3. The entire charade of "progressive" Democrats would be laughable if not for the fact that it is merely yet another truly lamentable manipulation of those not fortunate enough to have gained a clear insight into just how unrepresented/misrepresented they are. Which sadly to say, judging from the reams of thetoric on many forums, would include the majority of American as well as global citizenry.
4. Only a fool or worse would publicly advise or countenance dialogue as a rational means of countering, or even better, suppressing, criminal institutions that use deliberate lies and outright mass murder as a means to their grossly miscalculated ends.
5. Peace, human dignity, social integrity, and global constructive public cooperation will not begin to be gained until justice is rendered upon the known criminals among us, and I do not mean the farcical attempts by some of you to "impeach".
DO you truly love your family members still serving the criminal in genocidally afflicting the innocent?
Do you truly comprehend the fact that millions have been murdered or worse, in our names, at the behest of a Hitlerite regime of corporate criminals? Do you really care?
Then tell those who are claiming to serve the Constitution and the nation for which it stands in no uncertain terms to commence their march to Basra AFTER they have suppressed the criminals squatting inside the "Green Zone", and remove themselves ASAP to the true and proper battlefield....the hometowns of their families, and the capitol of the nation.
Nothing less will suffice.
W.hole E.arth E.quality P.arty... coming sooner than you think.
OK. I forgot....I have a big ego...
Forget the permit, the tanks and troops....If I get to meet Cindy, I'll come anyway and bring my banjo and the Florida gang with me.
Love, Jim

Backgound:
Cindy decided to get back into the fight after The Bush League White House commuted the sentence of I. Skater Libby. Her goal is not to lead the movement. Rather, to use her name and access to media to help local organization get media attention to hear opinions of the Democratic Machine that used her up and spit her out after the elections last fall.
Contrary to popular thinking she does not have allot of money. Since the Democrats have walked away from her mission so has most of her support from BIG MONEY.
So we are back to the grassroots and helping the peace movement build the from the bottom up. As we did when a few other veterans took her to Crawford to ask Bush for what Noble Cause did her son die on August 6th 2005.
Quote:
Gordon Sderberg Veteran US Navy Corpsman
I've been in New Orleans since September 2nd after leaving Spending a good part of August in Crawford Texas. I have been volunteering at first with Veterans for Peace to help with emergency relief. I stayed behind when the Veterans For Peace Impeachment Tour bus returned to their original mission in October of 05. Now, I'm video taping what the grassroots relief orgs have been doing to fill in where the FED-STATE Governments have abandoned their responsibilities. For me, this is a challenge and a opportunity as most worth while causes are. It is a challenge because, I'm trying to do this myself with absolutely no Money. Volunteering dose not pay well. And two years of it has tapped me out. That is why I'm reaching out to the peace community for assistance with this event.
These events with are opportunities to show solidarity and raise our collective voices for peace with a woman who will never give up and never give in. As M. Mead once said. Nothing ever changes with these kinds of people.
So, please consider helping me help her to help each other.
If you live in one of these cities mentioned above get involved and get connected. And lets stop this war machine in its tracks!

Just another voice saying: Thank you Cindy!
We missed you. We understand your frustration, but we welcome you back.
Great Folks,
Now that we seem to realize that we need to impeach Bush/Cheney together, I am for it all the way.
I still don't see anyway around the fact that once it starts officially in the House, Cheney would have resigned so that he can be pardoned by the new VP. Bush will appoint a new VP if Cheney resigns in time so he can get a Pardon. And If the House impeaches them both as partners in High Crimes, Bush will resign just in time also.
If cheney does not resign in time before that, Bush will not be able to get a pardon unless He resigns in time also because once they are offically in Impeachment proceedings they cannot be pardoned in cases of Impeachment....Like Nixon left just in time.
This will probably happen if the House Impeaches Cheney first or both of them together.
Nancy Polosi would become president only if the Senate convicts them both if Cheney has not already resigned in time.
That is my fantasy for sure.
So it is up to the House...we can write and call them but so far they sound like they haven't got what it takes to do the right thing.
They are afraid to face a newly appointed Republican President in 08.
Well, thats the Political reality...too bad for Truth and Justice.
But impeachment is still impoertant because I don't think anyone can bring regular criminal charges against a President before he is convicted in the Senate...that is what Impeachment is about.
Now what I need to know Before I go off to DC is "do we have a permit for a demonstration"?
I don''t like walking into traps.
In Chicago we were lead into a fenced off area and were confronted with troops and tanks before we got close to the convention.
Now a days they do this even when we have a permit called "Free speech Zones".
I need info on it before I take the trip to DC....I usually sing at our rallies here in Florida...they aren't as fenced off as some.
If your angry, that means you care. Anger and outrage can be constructive or self defeating.... but less anger and the more love is what we need to be effective for change.
I like to sing to the tune of Tom Dooley:
Hang down your heads Bush and Cheney Hang down your heads and cry
Hang down your heads Bush and Cheney, Poor boys your bound to die! (Oops, I mean Resign)
This time tomorrow, reckon where they'll be
Lookin for a place where Super Criminals can still be free
Chorus
More to come,
Jim

As questions about 911 hoaxes are on the minds of a majority of those polled, most would likewise agree the invasion was prosecuted under manufactured pretext, and that motives are evident with those 'elites' who stood to enormously benefit from defense spending and oil profits.
This would appear to be the new common conclusion brewing in the consensus (or it soon will and should be!)
There was and remains no useful asset to our 'defense', rather a devastation of it, as well as the criminal slaughter and maimings of countless thousands of uncounted civilians.
Still we hear knee-jerk mid-american responses about how the troops are fighting so that we can have the 'freedom' to say these things we do, etc.
Yet those apparently limiting our freedom of speech (other than a few NYT 'black-ops moderators over there~), for example have historically been NOT invaders, but rather OUR OWN PAID STAFF AT THE FBI, for whom technology has by now provided powers of domestic surveillance and censorship that J. Edgar Hoover could only have imagined in his wet dreams.
(And now that Google has apparently agreed to develop a 'filtered' version of the web for China, one could easily see these tools once perfected, turned on us as well– But until that happens, democracy shall still prevail online!)
The neo-conmen who have seized power illegally in this government are no simplistic paranoids the way Tricky-Dick was, and appear to have over-stepped the former impediment of mass demonstrations by simply ignoring them (so far).
A mass protest at the Pentagon for example could be now seen as just another 4th of july picnic, but you can bet that all those surveillance cameras (which conveniently didn't produce apparently one single verifiable photo of the 'plane' that hit the pentagon) will be in full focus on peace-rally day, creating a huge database of face-recognition fact-sheets on all participants.
BC can never bring back the draft-card-burning, 'give peace a chance' chanting rallies, at least not with any of their apparent past effectiveness, through grafting more 'skin' onto the flayed beast of the armed services.
Any draft-induced civilian actions may eventually provide fodder for Li'l B and his army-issued AK-47, as he and his fanatical 'defense' force mow down the civilian 'terrorist threat' in typical KENT STATE style…
It's too late for demonstrations folks, we did that already.
It's time to IMPEACH.
It's time for LEGAL ACTION,
the public MUST MANDATE that their PAID EMPLOYEES IN GOVERNMENT legally hobble the perpetrators of national crimes, pursue justice and fire these bums (tho it remains a question as where justice can ever be served if the criminals forever get continually pardoned).
If you're not at least flooding your congressional representatives with letters and calls demanding accountability of the executive branch (or whatever the 'Trickier Dick' imagines himself these days), then you are complicit in the lies and war-crimes they are committing in your name, with your money, at this very moment, as well as the dismemberment of law through precedent-setting, permanent thresh-hold changing events.
CONDEMNING HILLARY has now less to do with her former controversial senate vote, and now EVERYTHING to do with her (and Nancy Pelosi's, et. Al) refusal to uphold the law and remove these blatant criminals from power.
IMPEACH! IMPEACH!

OK America. Cindy is back. Let's get off our asses and help out this time. If you can't walk, donate. And tell your friends. I just did. I'll keep contributing until America is free from those creepy evil doers. RISE UP! DON'T USE THE EXCUSE I CAN'T HELP BECAUSE I CAN'T GET TO TEXAS any more. Open your wallets now. Organize. Let's help us help ourselves take back our country. THANK YOU CINDY!!!!!
I agree that Americans need to ALL go to Washington to STOP cold the criminals ,and I recommend burning down the Shithouse with the criminals inside before they kill more or escape to Argentina.
The Washington disease is totally rampant and will kill more millions if it is not executed and there will blowback or karma to pay as it is !!
Jim Glover gives an important reminder not to become what we hate - or better yet, to not hate in the first place. Negativity only breeds more of the same, and anger (justified or not) is a destructive force, unless it is channeled. None of us want to be considered "a bunch of angry losers," or to discredit the anti-war movement by feeding negative stereotypes, but it seems to me that a sense of outrage is perfectly natural when confronted with injustice, especially when it involves personal loss. Cindy Sheehan certainly acted out of outrage at the senseless loss of her son's life, and her anger, like fireworks, sent out many sparks of inspiration to thousands of people willing to hear her anger, to identify with it, and ultimately to use it to initiate change. Since radical change (in people, institutions, governments, etc.) usually only happens when it has to, unless a committed minority somehow forces change, the majority of people in this country need to first, believe that radical change is necessary, and second, take action. But what action? Should everyone go outside and sing in the streets, joyfully proclaiming their disapproval of our government? Yes, a peaceful revolution is a noble ideal, but how many successful ones have their been?
OK, I am not going to fall for this we got to show "outrage" business.
This is why our efforts have not been very successful so far.
We should present our grievances with Joy and humor.
the majority of Americans who want a peaceful revolution do not want to see us tying up traffic, shutting down business or manning freakin barricades and I will have nothing to do with such CIA programed self destruction.
I have been to a hundred demonstrations and we are always depicted as a bunch of angry losers trying to get our clever messages on our signs seen on TV so that the power elite will give in to our demands.
Instead of pissing off the public and making the White House happy about that we should walk respectfully and the less sign carrying and angry shouting the better...every one has seen all our signs already so we should not treat the public as if they are sheep that can be persuaded by marching and chanting or trashing property and everything that the War Machine wants us to keep doing ....In Chicago there were police and FBI provocateurs who made sure that the violence would keep the Viet Nam war for another 5 years.
If we go to DC or where ever we protest we should not close down business but spend money at the local shops and restaurants and talk in normal tones to the folks we meet....In other words win the peace for a change. We gave peace a chance now we need to take a chance for peace.
Love, Jim
Yay! Cindy just needed a little down time.
"Impeachment trials cannot be done in secret. How many Republicans will be willing to throw away their careers to save Bush in the face of the overwhelming evidence of his high crimes and misdemeanors? And even if they do, does that justify not trying? I don't think so."
I am not saying don't try. I am mulling these thoughts.
What I think is that you and most others here see this impeachment issue as you do. Specifically that Republicans will throw their careers away by not voting guilty in an impeachment. I think that simply is not the case. If there is a trial, a public trial, there is going to be a straight party line vote with a couple people crossing lines and those that vote not guilty would be pretty secure in their seats all the same. I simply don't find much outrage in the Red States for what has been done and I don't think a trial is going to change that.
We say that the sheeple don't know what is going on. They don't know what our policies are. I think that is wrong. I think they do for the most part and that they don't care or agree with them.
There seems to be outrage on the left but even if most of the people aren't happy and want a change, they are not outraged. Not really. Where are the marches? Where are the protest songs? Where is the resistance?
Where are the marches? Pasadena on New Years and New York on Thanksgiving.
Where are the protest songs? Sting is in a reunion tour and Justin Timberlake, Avril Lavigne, and Fergie are on the top 10. Oh... and Paris Hilton went to jail and we got to see Brittany's foofoo. Harry Potter is finishing his time at Hogwarts. American Idol and Survivor and CSI and some variation of the Bachleor are in their 7th or 8th season...
Where is the resistance? Cindy and a handfull of others and no one else.
What I see is that people express outrage online and in polls but they don't at the ballot box, they don't in the streets, they don't in the culture, they don't anywhere else. Without outrage, there is no pressure on elected officials and without pressure there is no change and that is what I see happening.
While I'm as happy as anyone to have Cindy Sheehan back in the fray, it's unfair of the rest of us to sit back and wait to be led. If we want to claim the right to change the world, we shouldn't NEED to be led.
Cindy started with no name recognition, no money, no resources except her own determination, and she went through miserable conditions just to get her message on the radar: WHAT ARE OUR KIDS DYING FOR? Chicken$#it George, of course, can't answer that question, and certainly not honestly.
Every one of us has the power, and validity, to do what Cindy did. We may not have lost a son to an illegal war, but chances are very good that we've lost a loved one to any number of the BushDick's insane policies. All we need is to emulate her courage, and speak out, the hard way.
It can be small. Don't buy brand-name products from big corporations that turn around and contribute your money to their candidates. Put a sign in your yard, in your window. Wear t-shirts and bumper stickers expressing your opinion. The vast majority of the sheeple get their news from advertising whores, and don't have a clue about what's really going on, except about which "celebrity" is pregnant.
But if you want to make a big impact, you have to take the big steps, and make the big sacrifices, the way Cindy did. Some of us can't afford to leave our homes (or our pets), but we can afford to start a protest march around city hall right in our own neighborhoods.
As for all the political hype around Obama and Clinton, it's just more advertising. "A black! A woman! For president! Oboy! Let's milk that for all the infotainment it's worth!" In truth, it doesn't matter how much money they raise -- neither of them have a snowball's chance of being elected. Not only are they not progressive, not only do they carry too much baggage that the slime machine can use against them, but they're wimps. When the going gets tough, they'll back away, just like Gore and Kerry did.
If you want an electable ticket, look at Edwards and Gravel and Kucinich. These guys walk the walk. Send them a few bucks. More importantly, write letters to the editor about them. Our greatest weapon is information.
My admiration for Cindy Sheehan knows no bounds. The least we can do is even a tenth of what she's done.

"Precisely the point. There will be no conviction in the Senate even if the House does vote for it. It simply is a non-possibility."
Not necessarily so. The Senate trial is public. Impeachment trials cannot be done in secret. How many Republicans will be willing to throw away their careers to save Bush in the face of the overwhelming evidence of his high crimes and misdemeanors? And even if they do, does that justify not trying? I don't think so. No other individual in U.S. history has done more damage to the Constitution, our civil liberties, and our international standing than Bush has.
As for a one issue anti-war platform, who is talking about that, other than you?
As for voting against DLC candidates you have already stated the Dems are probably going to nominate Clinton/Obama so I ask you what have we to lose by not voting for them. The one chance we have to wake the country up and change things is impeachment. If we don't, we doom ourselves to 4 to 8 more years of the same whether it is a Republican or a Republcan light that gets elected.

"Supporting Republicans just to send a message is counter productive. Rather, threaten to support a candidate that represents you closest. That's the value of less popular candidates be they of Pelosi's party, the Republican or independent, or other."
You miss the point. It isn't about sending a message. It is about removing Pelosi from office. An individual that through her refusal to act and enabling the two biggest lawbreakers in U.S. history is as big a danger to our Democracy and civil liberties as Bush and Cheney are by their actions.

"And you should reread yours. It only takes a majority vote in the house to impeach, it takes a 2/3 majority in the Senate to convict. But that is after the trial which the Senate has no choice but to conduct after the vote to impeach in the House."
Precisely the point. There will be no conviction in the Senate even if the House does vote for it. It simply is a non-possibility. The only change is going to come in 08 and that is not going to be good for us because it is not going to be a real progressive that wins it is going to be a Clinton/Obama or even a Republican if enough of us vote against the DLC candidates. We have to get this right. If we vote left, will there be enough of us to win? A one issue anti-war platform is not going to be a winner in 08.
Oh, and the blog shows solid support for Cindy Sheehan.
Well, the Declaration of Independence calls on the People to "alter or abolish" any government that becomes oppressive, so maybe we need to literally take to the barricades and do to these thugs what the Russian people (and others in the old Soviet Empire) had the guts to do in 1991. Marches, protests, petitions, none of that will fundamentally alter things, and the sooner we realize that and stop screwing around with fluff & smoke & mirrors, the sooner we'll be able to get down to the business of breaking this Evil Empire and bringing America home again. So strange -- it seems in retrospect that the New Left in the 1960s was not so much wrong as premature, and J. William Fulbright's "The Arrogance of Power" reads so true today, although the names of places and people have obviously changed.
Do a google search for A H Goldberg on impeachment and removal. It's a blog column, and it kicks booty, ya'll. It also was sometime back this year.
The blog has a real good article on Fred Thompson's phony as can be candidacy for president.
Welcome back, Cindy.
Atnov, the 4th century philosopher once said "There is a moment in every man's life when he must stand and be counted, if at that moment he does not, he will be crushed under the tyranny of his own impotence."
The time has come to stand and be counted. See y'all on the 23rd.
peace
Albert Einstein once said "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results".
In other words, I'm glad to see you're back, but I also hope you and all the rest of us know that what didn't work last time will probably not work this time either. The Democrats are not the answer, and the louder that message is made clear, the higher the likelyhood of some real change. This is all grassroots with whatever politicians want to jump on board our train. Don't get on board any of their trains; none.
What began in Crawford cannot be stopped. Those of us who were there, and those who watched from a distance, all felt the power of the people rise up to challenge injustice. There was a certain synergy created as people stood together, talked, ate, laughed, cried, sang and prayed together, and this movement gained momentum as it reverberated throuout the world, so now there are hundreds of thousands more people ready to join in. Cindy is calling us, quite literally, out into the street to protest. Remember, this is not a mere intellectual exercise, a "virtual" revolution made up mostly of toxic rhetoric and nasty hyperbole; it is a call for "boots on the ground" in Washington on July 23. Hope to see you there.
Just sent this to Nancy:
Bush/Cheney are partners in High Crimes of the highest kind this nation has ever been guilty of tolerating.
It is not just me but check out what our citizens and concerned people around the world are demanding at http://www.commondreams.org/archive/2007/07/03/2276/
Without Impeachment of both of these criminals, You have absolutely nothing of worth on your table.
The time has come to finally do your duty.
Sincerely,
Jim Glover

THANK YOU, CINDY SHEEHAN!!
What a great 4th of July gift. Let's go get them!
More info and details please! Time is short.
NONE of you seem to get it!
Few the 83 posts here mentions actually joining the march - aside from a bike ride up the BR parkway and Skylne Drive which sounds more like a vacation plan.
Cindy doesn't want your fawning, SHE WANTS YOU TO JOIN THE MARCH - find a segment near you, or mark your calenders and get to DC on July 23. Here in Pittsburgh, I will organize a contingent to DC.
BTW, I assume much of the trip will be by bus or car motorcade? Walking 650 miles in 10 days seems a bit much...
Check out this Keith Olbermann clip from Monday night!
He's the best cheerleader Cindy Sheehan has!! Now all she needs is a great TEAM! We either need to make plans to join her, or try to contribute even twenty bucks to the cause. Courageous leaders like Cindy need funds for food, shelter, cell phone bills, LAWYERS!! etc.
I believe she has a website. Just Google it.... Hopefully she'll read all these posts and let us know the best place to get funds to her! How about Commondreams giving us a link for her?? Here's the link to Olbermann. It is AWESOME and worth passing along.

Congratulations on your patriotism, we all must obey the call when there are tyrants and Caesars about, strutting their flagrant disregard for the rule of law.
Your loss is great/unimaginable but your overwhelming sense of duty to your countryis admirable, and we stand with you to wrest our country back from the gaping maw of tyranny.
But, when a long train of abuses and usurpations , pursuing invariably the same object , evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism , it is their right , it is their duty , to throw off such government , and to provide new guards for their future security.

dear Nancy Pelosi...it's not an agatha christie novel -- we all know the score
The point is not that those impeaching Bush draw the votes necessary to convict him -- the point is whether anyone will try to marginally uphold the rule of law
murder, torture, billions stolen from the treasury, billions more in the pockets of corporate criminals, thousands upon thousands of soldiers and Iraq civ's killed for the sake of a sick, demented agenda --
you want a fresh start in '08? -- how 'bout giving us all a fresh start right now -- today -- breathe some life into the debate: humanity vs. the bush agenda
Cindy, run for Congress. You will get elected.
patnval @ July 4th -5:29 am.
-Well said friend!
Cindy your writing hits to the point exactly. Thank You!
I am in the walk with you in spirit and my thoughts and prayers are with all those who join you. I imagine a massive turn out. I have a family vacation planned for that time--badly needed myself and plan on leaving all politics behind for the time. Wish I could be with you in body too.

Supporting Republicans just to send a message is counter productive. Rather, threaten to support a candidate that represents you closest. That's the value of less popular candidates be they of Pelosi's party, the Republican or independent, or other.
Ms. Sheehan,
Iraqi war vet here who appreciates what you are doing. Do not stop. I was an officer sworn to care for my troops, and it tears my heart every day.

Ms. Pelosi doesn't seem to be paying attention to the voters. One way to get her attention would be to let her know that you as a progressive liberal will be supporting her Republican opponent in 2008 with donations of money and time.

Welcome back Ms. Sheehan.
I agree whole heartedly with your call to revolution. At the same time I worry that the american people are missing a very crucial point...Pelosi and company get their funds from the same place that BushCo gets theirs. Pelosi is not going to move to impeach when an impeachment hearing will expose this nasty little secret. There is no difference between the two parties except in name.
There are several things that need to happen in order to turn this country around. Here a just a few, not in order of importance.
1. We need to remove corporate rights of personhood. As long as corporations enjoy the same rights of personhood that you and I hold, nothing will change. They have more money than we do, and allowing them to use it to influence elections gives them an advantage we cannot compete against. Forget campaign finance reform, take away the right to keep company books free from scrutiny. Force accountability from the Enrons of the world.
2. We do not have a representative government. If we did, Bush would not be in office. Your vote counts for very little at the ballot box. Vote with your money. Better yet, participate in alternative economies and leave the economic system to collapse. As long as we prefer the cheap prices at Walmart we give away our power. The government cannot operate without funds. Period. Spend your money wisely, supporting local economies and local infrastructures.
3. Understand that democracy is very, very young in the world. Our government is like a teenager who has grown up spoiled and undisciplined. 2 year olds don't enjoy the same rights and freedoms as 18 year olds. The rules change as one grows older. We have allowed our government to make it's own rules with little oversite from we the people. It is time to take away the keys, cut off the allowance and ground the little bastards until they learn how to behave. It is OUR responsibility. And while we are at it we should consider that democracy as we now know it may NOT be the answer. It is time for revolution yes, but not revolution that changes nothing. Which brings me to my final point.
4. The federal government is way, WAY too big. It needs to be cut down to a size that is managable, and control needs to return to the states, cities and towns. It is much easier to control what your leaders do when they shop at the same grocery store where you shop. And while I don't presume to know what the folks in Texas need or want in terms of education, social services etc. I certainly do know what I want here in Vermont.
Finally, sleep is a weapon. By that I mean that there is a time for rest and recuperation. Nobody can soldier on indefinately without the risk of burnout. Rest allows us to gather strength, compose our thoughts and make action plans. Please take the time to rest when you need it.

"Those of you who rightfully wish for impeachment of the very bad president and vice president under whom we suffer must remember from your civics classes that the Constitution of the United States requires a two-thirds vote of the Senate to impeach the president or vice-president. Not enough people of the United States voted for Democratic senatorial candidates for the current congress to ensure even a majority vote."
And you should reread yours. It only takes a majority vote in the house to impeach, it takes a 2/3 majority in the Senate to convict. But that is after the trial which the Senate has no choice but to conduct after the vote to impeach in the House.
Lobo Gris
On behalf of all the progressive and peace-loving people all over this world, I give our one and the only Cindy Sheehan a very warm welcome back!
I knew it! That pen of yours is far too good to be allowed to stand idle for very long.
So, I'm very glad to see you back, Cindy. Take good care of yourself.
Oh, and by the way, happy birthday for tomorrow!
Wonderful Cindy -- If your route to DC includes NE Tennessee, First Tennessee Progressives and our other anti-war and anti-DU partners would love the opportunity to house and feed you and your fellow marchers, and to continue on with you to Washington. May the Prince of Peace bless your journey! -- Linda.
I support her return. Even though I don't agree with all her actions, at least she is doing something. What are the rest of us doing, especially those who claim to represent us in Congress. I have lost all faith in our elected(?) officials, except that they will do what is best for themselves.
I say join a third party, support it with your time & money - forget the rest!
From a veteran.
miguelob1,
I agree with most of what you said, however, there might be a chance that if things get so bad with Bush, Republicans might start distancing themselves from him, and vote for impeachment. One thing political parties are good at doing is throwing their own to the wolves once they are no longer of any use. It is a very long shot, but could happen.
GOOD BYE NANCY PELOSI! You represent (along w/Hillary & Obama)precisely the limp wristed example(s) of what is wrong with the Dems. We don't need a 3rd Party Candidate - we need a REAL 2nd PARTY!
"Nancy Pelosi will be denounced now and forever not for failing to impeach the President and Vice President, but for not having the courage to really try.
For this reason alone she deserves not to be elected again. For this reason alone she deserves to be shunned by all Americans."
When we muster up the courage to act for the benefit of our inalienable rights, we regain our self-respect.
Many of us simply cannot join with Cindy in her march on DC.....How can we contribute to her...? Anyone?
YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome back to the fight, Cindy!
We've missed you and we've needed your voice!
God bless you and keep you safe, Cindy!!! Thank you for all you've done on our behalf. Many thousands of us love you for your courage.
Hi Cindy --
Knew you couldn't stay away.
Try to get all the progressive organizations together --
and I love the idea of "Honk to Impeach" movements --
Throw notes in with your bank deposits --
Talk about impeachment at your grocery store --
Wherever you are --
Call Pelosi/Reid and members of Senate/USHR every day --
Also, I think we need to have movements which take us back to our town halls -- and to our state capitals.
And, then, if we can the original 13 states --
We need leaders from progressive organizations to come out to lead and speak -- it can be for short periods of time -- an hour or so once a week.
Make things easy for people to do --
Cindy - SOOOOO glad you're back. I cried when you went away, although I, and everyone else, understood, and were only glad you had been able to stand for the rest of us as long as you did. You speak for so many of us in "the street." Frustrated, sad, outraged conversations taking place all over the country were so often reflected in your pertinent and pithy comments. Please take heart that YOU have a constituency, across the country, of those that this Administration has disenfranchised. Your heart and common sense seem to take us where professionals fear to tread - although it is their duty to raise these issues, they just skate around them, while you go to the heart of the matter every time. You go, Girl!
Cindy--It is always good to hear from you and if this is your choice may God bless it-- but please don't let yourself be chewed up by the activity. You go girl!!
Welcome back, Cindy. We had all hoped that during your time away the Congres would have picked up some of the slack and done its job by starting impeachment proceedings. What does the evil duo need to do to get them moving.
But I have long thought that the only way we are going to be heard is to march and have millions join us.
Now is the time.
I'll see you all in DC!
Another man walking to D.C. is Bill McDannell. He is walking from San Diego, CA to Washington, D.C. In Ohio now, he already has 2600 miles under his belt since November 4, 2006. He keeps a daily journal. If you are interested in him, please read more at: www.wtetw.com/journal.htm
Those of you who rightfully wish for impeachment of the very bad president and vice president under whom we suffer must remember from your civics classes that the Constitution of the United States requires a two-thirds vote of the Senate to impeach the president or vice-president. Not enough people of the United States voted for Democratic senatorial candidates for the current congress to ensure even a majority vote.
By the time there is anywhere near enough Democrats to vote for impeachment the current president will be sitting in Crawford laughing because even he can count. Speaker Pelosi has counted and sees the futility of the exercise you favor.
Rather than sitting on your posteriors berating the Democratic Party leader, help prevent Republicans from mauling our democracy and our country. Make sure every Democrat votes so we can approach a democratic country again. Better yet, run for office. Try to get on the school board, the county commission, or the city counci. The Constitution gives us many rights besides the freedom of speech. Don't let them wither because talk is easy. Don't let the Republicans destroy them because it's easier to berate than join in the process.
Don't forget, if we have a revolution we'll have to do the same democratic nation building afterwards. Let's save some blood and guts, and time, and get to putting the country right now.
Join Cindy!
Announce your candidacy for the Presidency, Cindy. Let the whole world know that America is back.
Attention Whore! No, just what the Dummies would call a Drama Queen.
Please, Cindy, block out time in your schedule for R&R and family.
If you just worked weekends when the administration releases the bad news to hide it and Bu$h the inferior's vacations you will be too exhausted to continue.
"Let's not put everything on Cindy's shoulders. We need to join her in the march. Imagine millions of people descending on Congress"… ezyflyer

Interesting! Cindy's return announcement has been drawing comment here for 6 hours, now, yet Googling her name brings up not a single news mention of it. Even though this is a weekday development.
Impeachment is actually PROGRESSING against a very severe blackout effort by the misfit mainstream media. It is gaining ground, nevertheless, with some stalwart Congressional representatives finally starting to sign on to Kucinich's Bill of Impeachment. And I understand it has very recently been taken up by the necessary Committee for evaluation (Ways & Means?). But the point is, it IS moving along, and gaining momentum.
Now, if a real bunch of us will get out there and start physically making this MARCH . . . we just have to keep throwing it in their faces until some critical momentum is reached. It cannot be very far off.
LET'S DO IT!!!
Thank you, Cindy - thank you thank you thank you . . . . from the bottom of my heart . . . . another mom for peace . . .
Waiting for a website for support of the March.
I'd love to meet them as they pull into DC!!
Pitchforks, baby....
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hooray for you, Cindy. I've met you and know your heart is just too big to stay indoors when humanity is on the edge of disaster!
I think, however, that you are misguided in thinking that a class-free people's movement will be the solution. It will be, at most, an adjunct to the solution, and more likely a distraction from it. The only just and uniformly affluent world possible is a socialist one, with its economy united under the democratic leadership of the toilers. To think that you can qualatatively change imperialist America through ballot box, street actions, and letters to congrressmen is a dangerous illusion. Just as we see the limited gains of the 60's and 70's (and even older!) being washed away by the current, particularly venal Republican/Democrat syndicate, you can bet that any single-issue reforms we manage to make (e.g., ending the Iraqi occupation) in the current growing wave of discontent will later be reversed. The economic system is the problem, and we need to study the successes and failures of our predecessors, and stand upon their shoulders if we are to succeed. The Soviet Revolution of 1917, however disastrously it has ended, is our singular example of the theoretically mandatory workers' revolution, and it is through study of that monumental accomplishment that you will find the way forward.
I wonder if we could get a bicycle brigade to go up the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Skyline Drive, and to Washington for this?
Give em hell Cindy! You are da bomb!!!!!

A song that expresses it best:

Un-common dreams, you made a damn good point about that fellow who walked the walk for a peaceful world and is doing all those good things in the UK.
But "what happens" if W and "da Terminator" get that fake gay marriage in the White House that W's momma is ready to pay for saying price is no object and Pat Robertson comes in as the "lovely flower girl," what "can we do then." Hell, aren't "we all just scared to death of it?" No-- But "da Terminator" dawg "will get ya'll and me too." Don't you "think"?
CINDY !!!!!
Just move at your own pace, Cindy, and don't let the critics grind you down.
Thanks for using that great Thunder Clap Newman lyric. Chris Chandler has a great use of that song on his
"American Storyteller Vol I&II" CD set. It's titled "Something in the Air/ But It's Not on the Radio" You can get a taste of it at www.cdbaby.com/cd/cchandler3 Wish it had the whole thing for all to hear...'cause it ain't on the radio.
Cindy,
We love you all because you are the only honest peace activist with legitimacy and also with sufficient knowledge and expertise in dealing with the devil. If you go away hope will go away. Stay on and carry on the fight to its final victory. People will be with you. Welcome back and don't let the bastards discourage you again. Your resurgence is the most disheartening defeat for the AIPAC girl. She is already trembling. Thank you Cindy
Seattle is with you too!
The Sheehanator is back! woo hoo! glad to have you back in the fight girl!
Welcome back, Cindy!! Your rallying cry, brought a tear to my eye!!
Thanks and Portland is with you!!

"And thanks for quoting one of my favorite songs from the old days - I didn't think anyone else even remembered that one."
~course we do! :) -he's a Brit, (-used to know him in London, a real fat guy, hence the name, 'Thunderclap'!) :) The song was banned in South Africa by the white warthogs in power @ the time, they said it was 'too revolutionary.'

Re your walk, and activism:
There's a guy I know over here in the UK. He was once a totally unknown, penniless Jain monk in the back end of India, but he felt really REALLY strongly about the build-up of insane Atomic weapons in the wider world.
~ So what to do?
He decided he would walk. ~ Simply WALK, -from India, to Moscow, then Paris, then London, then on to the USA.
He decided NOT to take any money, he would trust in faith / fate / the gods to provide needed food and shelter.
He finally succeeded in his mission, to ensure his message to 'cool it' was personally received by the leaders of each of those four nations, and he ended up with a HUGE amount of international public interest and great support for his mission, -prior to then settling down in the UK and devoting his time to opening a small 'alternative' school, and starting up a successful ecological magazine.
His name is Satish Kumar (see following link) ::: http://www.resurgence.org/satish/index.htm
Satish showed us just what can be done with NOTHING, ~except for the will to succeed, and a little self-sacrifice...
Inspiring?
I think so!

Oh, and Cindy, seeing as you have been listening to a lot of good lyrics, I hope you've got Phil Ochs on your iPod, ready for the march? ~ If not, you'll love his revolutionary songs!
Here's the Wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Ochs which has a full list of his albums. I'd especially recommend:
1. All the News That's Fit to Sing
2. I Ain't Marching Anymore
3. Pleasures of the Harbor
4. Tape from California
and,
5. Rehearsals for Retirement
- Enjoy darlin' !

Glad you're back, Cindy! Giving up is what they want you to do. Give'em hell!
Good to hear you, Cindy. I'd say "Welcome back" but you were never really far away.
This Attack On America has gone too far for our Congresspeople to continue to pretend there is a valid governing process still in place. THAT IS A BIG LIE.
Calling on the PEOPLE to stand up and lead the way is the ONLY viable way left to us.
We must use every tool at our disposal to send a message to this Congress, and to the hijackers of our nation. Here is one. Tell them: "End this War!" and "Impeachment Now!" by voting with your FEET and with your REGISTRATION. Make the move now to the Green Party, and send a message they cannot ignore. See switch2green.org for details and reasons. Switch to send an immediate and loud message for peace, for a re-birth of democracy, and to put them on notice: we are watching, and we will not let you play these games any longer.
We send real men and women to die (and kill) every single day — supposedly to defend this nation against…well, whatever they tell us. We pay them with our tax dollars and other dollars stolen illegally and surreptitiously from our Budget. Is it too much to ask those in Congress to stand up, risking THEIR lives and careers if necessary, to defend the US from the DOMESTIC Enemies that are using every device to bring our nation down??
Pretending they don't see it is just another LIE!! Pretending that this Administration is working within the law does not stop it from being a LIE and makes this Congress complicit.
Let's join with Cindy and others to find a common ground, language, and actions to show that we are finished with business as usual and ready to defend ourselves.
...and you know that it's right, and you know that it's right, we have got to get it together, we have got to get it together now!
Glad you are back, and hey, we have your back.
Cindy is back!
Glad you have rested and are back in the fray.
Good people cannot long rest when faced with the criminal behavior of a government.
Watch your back -- the lice at the head of our government will think nothing of arranging an accident for dissenters.
Hah! Cindy Sheehan, tanned, rested, and ready! Go, Cindy, go!
Yes, wait for Cindy Sheehan to lead the way - not one spineless American could take up her cause during her absence. And, while poor Cindy is taking all the beating, both physical and verbal, all of you sit here or in front of the telly, giving your commentaries.... It's no wonder the poor lady had to throw in the towel. It's good to see her back, but if the majority is composed of cheerleaders, nothing will change...
Shame on you all, just full of hot air - and, perhaps, that ridiculous Paris Hilton....
Way to go! And thanks for quoting one of my favorite songs from the old days - I didn't think anyone else even remembered that one. :)
