Kucinich to Sponsor Impeach Cheney Bill
Sources close to the office of Representative Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) confirm that the progressive Democratic congressman and Democratic presidential aspirant intends to introduce a bill of impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney in the House of Representatives on Wednesday, April 25. The move will mark the second time that an impeachment bill has been submitted against a member of the Bush administration. Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) filed a bill of impeachment against President Bush in December of last year, just as the 109th Congress was about to end, and as Rep. McKenney was about to leave office (she was defeated in last November's election).
Kucinich's bill will go to the Judiciary Committee, where Chairman John Conyers (D-MI) and the other members will have to decide whether to request subpoena powers and to begin a hearing into impeachable offenses by the vice president.
Kucinich's action marks a major step forward for impeachment activists, who have been frustrated by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who has repeatedly stated that she has no interest in having the House hold impeachment hearings against president or vice president (and who has been leaning hard on Democratic caucus members in the House not to file impeachment bills).
By bucking Pelosi and filing his bill, Kucinich may force the mainstream corporate media to start discussing the idea. There has been a virtual blackout on impeachment in the media, which has not even been asking the question in polls, since a year ago, when Pelosi made it clear she had no interest in impeachment.
Kucinich's move comes as citizens across the country are bringing impeachment resolutions to town meetings, city councils, Democratic Party county and state committees, and even state legislatures--and getting them passed.
The Democratic Party Establishment has been resisting impeachment, fearing that it could "turn off" independent voters, although the few polls that have been conducted suggest that a majority of Americans, and even not a few Republicans, favor impeaching the president. But as the administration's scandals have grown in number and seriousness, from financial chicanery to voter suppression to political firings of federal prosecutors to illegal spying on citizens, and as the president's War in Iraq has lurched from bad to catastrophic, public pressure is mounting for Democrats to take tougher action.
Kucinich's bill may not in itself put Bush's impeachment back on the Congressional table, but it could whet the public's appetite for more substantial fare.

Show AllI am all in favor of impeachment proceedings. I supported going into this war based on the words of Colin Powell. I trusted him. I was all in favor of going after Bin Laden in Afghanistan. However, this war in Iraq in my opinion now was nothing but some men who wanted to use their power to enrich themselves and make a name for themselves in history as some kind of saviors of the oppressed.
This was about ego and fattening wallets. Tens of thousands of innocent people have died because of Cheney and Bush. I think they both should stand trial.
Finally! A Democratic Party elected official with balls! Amazing. Of course, Rep. Kucinich has been a stalwart opponent of the neocon gangsters from day 1 of their organizational conference. So it does make sense that he, amongst all the tough-talking Democrats, is the one to get the long-overdue ball rolling. Three cheers for Dennis! And cheers for the sooon-to-be great again United States of America. Tyranny must be squashed. The neocons are doomed to irrelevance.
i asked you dennis to move out ahead of the others some how as a peace canidate. well done you did it.
were behind you each and every move you make. lets change this nation and the world.
We need this to happen dennis, don!t let us down...
It's sad that in this country anyone simply submitting a motion for an inquiry into the presidents affairs (that's all that an impeachment really is)be considered as a hero. In most other democratic countries this usually the no-confidence process and the leader of the government is routinely brought down with a no-confidence vote, which usually garners a substantial opposition if not a majority. It's the rigid authoritarian nature of our government that we cant. A true democracy requires it's leaders to be accountable. Here to try to hold the leader accountable is considered an abberation, a taboo. Although as usual the right wing didn't have any qualms about breaking some taboos, and guess what they won the next election. It's the spineless democrats again. The people in Pelosis district should be in arms, and give her the boot.
Like the townspeople of Frankenstein movies, let's light the torches and climb the mountain trail to the monster's lair. The crimes are real and Dennis is the Hero!
I knew when i saw bush and cheney running for office, these representatives of the Defense and Oil Industries, that we were going to war.I never dreamed it would be this much of a debacle. Why are Americans so slow to face the facts about our leaders? (isn't Henry Kissinger being tried as a war criminal in abstensia all around the world?)will we ever see justice? i doubt it
I didn't realize that the Democeatic Speaker of the House had veto rights over anything that she doesn't like? Hell, if they impeached the whole Bush cabinet wouldn't she be moved into position to be President until the next election?
I just wish that the Bush regime would publicly have to have their collective we are better than the rest of you noses get rubbed in it. A little wake up call to big business, big money and people with power craze.
I also think that American government should be taught all through high school, unlike the one year course I took in 8th grade. Teach people what is wrong in government to help them realize that we are just one country in the world and we want to work strongly with other governments, but not wage war to get that work done.
"The Democratic Party Establishment has been resisting impeachment, fearing that it could "turn off" independent voters"
'
No. That's not what's happening at all. The Democratic leadership in Congress are counting the votes that it will take to impeach and they can clearly see that there is no way, at this time, to get 18 Republican Senators to vote for impeachment.
They've taken the word "Impeachment" off the table.
However, impeachment is proceeding on several tracks.
The Vermont Legislature and the previous town meetings, are one current example of the ground campaign. All over the country, there are actions going on in statehouses and city council chambers. Impeachment is forming an organizing rally point at the grass roots. A28 will be a nationwide day for Impeachment, get out and make noise or a sign, freeway blog or join us in Boston for a reading of the Articles of Impeachment at Fanuel Hall.
But the real action is going on in both the House and Senate. Leahy and Waxman are the most visible so far, but Boxer has Enviro/EPA hearings coming up, Conyers is making some noise. (Lot's more, stay tuned)
All of these investigations are doing exactly what an impeachment would be doing at the early stages, piling up evidence. And they are doing it in a bipartisan manner. The revelations of Gonzales' perfidity is really shaking several Republican Senators including Arlen Spector and Olympia Snowe.
If you are reading this, you are probably one of the tiny minority of Americans that are paying attention to our world. To US, it so obvious what thugs these guys are, any one of US can reel off a list of Bush and Cheney's crimes, no exaggeration, from Crimes against Humanity to War Profiteering and then some. The other 90% of the country is starting to get an inkling that something is amiss, but a lot of them have never heard the case laid out.
All the committees that are holding these hearings have Republicans on them in the Minority, for some of them, this will be the first time they hear this from sources they can't just write off. They are being forced to face the fact that their Party is looking a lot like a criminal enterprise and they'd better get out ahead of it if they plan on a future in Congress. Once enough evidence is out on the table, once enough of the misAdministration has quit, been fired, indicted, immunized and deposed, inspected, selected and rejected, once 18 Republican Senators break ranks, Articles of Impeachment will be filed bipartisan and it'll be over in weeks. But we are not there yet.
One reason that we're not there yet, is that the people I support most instinctively, the people I campaign and Vote for, the Progressives in Congress, have gotten caught up in semantic fratricide.
During the fight over the Supplemental, Progs were insisting "Cut the Funding". They clung to that verbiage like a mantra, never examining what they were demanding. First of all, there was no good answer to what specificly to cut, Soldiers' Pay? Fuel for their vehicles? Walter Reed? What was needed was what ended up happening (approximately), that is a redirection of funding, setting conditions and a timetable for removing US forces, effectively ending the occupation. Secondly, "Cut the Funding" is exactly the meme that Rove and the Thugs fan club will use for the next three decades to brand the Left as "backstabbing Defeatocrats", so insisting on a verbal formulation that wasn't even accurate was a waste of the energy that we need to focus and does us long run damage. We need the unified strength of our Majority to back Bush down and to back up the provisions that are key to ending the Occupation. The division in the Democratic ranks has made it easier for Bush to twist arms to make the "strings" in the bill optional.
Likewise the onside sniping over "Impeachment", the split between Dennis's Caucus and House Leadership is damaging our side and missing the point. Impeachment is already going on, it's just not advertized as such.
Articles of Impeachment, if they are brought to the floor and argued, will polarize Congress to Partylines (with Lie berman crossing over to make it bi-partisan) and lock it down. Impeachment is a partisan political action (not a criminal proceeding), It will be met with a partisan response and they are very good at lockdown and smear. Nothing will move on either floor until 2009.
And if, by a miracle, impeachment does, finally, pass out of the House, the Thugs only need 40 Senators to defeat it.
Then we've really lost. In the public's mind (and the HUGE PR budget will ensure that), Bush will be exonerated, He'll pardon his co-conspiritors, none of them will be indicted, the bas+ards will walk.
Don't want that.
I have supported Kucinich last election and this one was well. Impeach bill is a valid one and I support it.
Maybe that would at least make them more aware of what the people want. This government seems more and more like the band playing on the Titanic
Bravo! It seems like it would help if we all wrote our congress/senate reps once a week saying "Impeach Bush & Cheney" until they finally do it. We should also call their offices and express the same wish - over and over again til we get what we want!
Thank God for Dennis Kucinich! And shame on Nancy Pelosi!
Bush and Cheney look very, very guilty of "high crimes and misdemeaners" to most Americans, and the evidence seems substantial. They fabricated a case to illegally invade and occupy Iraq, they stubbornly refuse to admit what everyone else sees as an egregious series of mistakes in Iraq, they have endangered the civil rights of the American people, they have violated both American and world standards of decency in their treatment of detainees, they have sold out the American public to corporate interests - - I could go on and on! They are almost certainly guilty of war crimes, but will almost certainly never be held accountable for them. The ancient but dependable process of impeachment is essential to delve objectively into their nasty actions, and to remove them from office if the evidence warrants. I want them to "get what's coming to them"!
Hurrah for Dennis Kucinich. Cheney MUST be impeached for several crimes, including facilitation of an attack on America on Septemeber 11, 2001
Is the mention of a certain date verboten? I tried twice to have my comment published, and wondered if including that date #/## was prohibited.
I believe Cheney should be impeached of many crimes, but especially for his role on the date the towers fell, and a missile struck the Pentagon. See the video online, a description of which follows:
" For the past 50 years, NORAD has had the duty of protecting US airspace from attack, and has always been under the direct command of select ... all » US Military Generals. Three months before the attack of #/##, Dick Cheney usurped control of NORAD, and therefore he, and no one else, had the power to call for military sorties on the hijacked airliners on #/##. He did not exercise that power, and consequently, the Pentagon, WTC2 and WTC7 were left unprotected, and then destroyed, resulting in the death of thousands of innocents. Three months after #/##, he relinquished command of NORAD and returned it to military operation."
All across America, burger flippers will become small farmers, craftsmen and merchants serving booming local markets with globally shared best practices and methods.
I like your optimism . If readers think that this scenario is an unrealistic search for Utopia , the I would suggest they watch and listen to the documentary , The Power of Community : Howe Cuba Survived Peak Oil , written by Americans.
Cubans lose of Russia's patronage in the "special period " in the big areas of oil and machinery-supply coupled with a reciprocal , generous consumption of Cuban-produced sugar and the continuing anti-Cuban trade-and-travel embargo makes America's social and economic problems to solve look mimiscule and insignifigant in comparison.
Usually trust the wisdom and advice of a travel guide that has been where you are planning to go , especially when your leaders ( Congress and White House )"have an axe to grind".
If you believe that members of the present administration have committed criminal acts that merit severe legal penalties, then you should, I think, ask yourself whether persons who committed such acts, and now have extensive governmental power, would peacefully submit themselves to a legal procedure that might bring about condign punishment. To avoid being impeached or brought to trial, e.g., before the World Court, would they not be likely to resort to criminal violence?
Therefore, I propose an alternative to impeachment or trial that, I believe, would be both practical and in keeping with the moral code of pro-peace people: Congress should create a Truth and Reconciliation Commission with powerful investigative subpoena powers. The Commission should be empowered to offer members of the present administration and their co-conspirators immunity from criminal penalties (other than, if they are proven guilty of the crimes of which they are accused, being banned for life from public office) in return for their full confessions and disclosures. Getting the record straight would be, I believe, more desirable than severely punishing some (but almost certainly not all) the perpetrators by means of a legal process that would be followed by endless dispute about its appropriateness.
Let the members of the present administration and their co-conspirators retire to their ranches and estates to live as pseudo-nobility! Let them see their grandchildren earn MBAs from Harvard and Yale! Perhaps it would be emotionally satisfying to force them to provide restitution to those who have suffered because of their acts; however, I cannot seriously anticipate any non-violent way to wrest such restitution from them. I fear a downward spiral of our country into civil war like what we have seen elsewhere in the world (for example, in Lebanon). I am resolved not to fall into the same habit of dehumanizing and despising my enemies that I decry when they do so. Some time soon, we humans must stop the cycle of violence, punishment, retribution, and revenge. What better time than now? What better occasion than with respect to people who have reached for absolute power by manipulating the fears and prejudices of ordinary Americans? Let us, who do not share those fears and prejudices, show that there is a better way to change the course of history.
Right On Dennis! Get it done! Sooner than later is best! Mara in VT.
I don't know where Kucinich came from, but are there more like him there? We sure need some more people in government with integrity right now.
Ohio is now my most favorite state in the nation. Bravo to the fine, brave people of Ohio who elected this man!
Thank you, Dennis. Without impeachment, how can we ever again have
faith in our constitution. The lawless behavior of the current administration during the past 6 years has destroyed national pride and faith in how our system works. Let's get back on track. We need healing, faith and self-examination, but, without truth, it is impossible.
Richard M. Cheney.
This oil pig; this corporatist fascist; this chickenhawk is the most evil and dangerous man alive today. It is entirely possible that impeaching him may be the only way to save civilization. I doubt Bushfool has sense enough to wipe his butt, let alone come up with such plans as an attack on Iran. Cheney, on the other hand, is both utterly corrupt and malignant, and bright and devious enough to create and execute such imperialist neocon fantasies. If a strike on Iran should occur--and by all accounts, Cheneypig is planning precisely that--then the bell could well toll for the American experiment. Impeaching his filthy ass is probably the only way to stop it.
Kucinich is practically the only honest person in Congress. More power to him; may he save us from the thieves and murderers who have usurped the presidency.
Sign held at Friday night peace vigil at Mendocino County Court House in Ukiah, California:
"TELL PELOSI: START IMPEACHMENT TODAY. Call Nancy at (415) 556-4862"

I appreciated the energy and convictions of Dennis Kucinich when he was starting his political career in Cleveland. My appreciation for his work in Washington continues to grow. More politicians need to find the courage to "speak truth to corrupt power." As the champion for a Department of Peace, Kucinich also understands the importance of studying nonvilent alternatives to conflict resolution.
I have no doubt that the majority of people in this country favor impeachment of Bush and Cheney and it is very frustrating that it does not seem to be happening. They have done so much damage in the world, not just this country and 2008 seems like too long to wait.
I commend Kucinich for having the courage to stick to his principles, and taking this next critical step toward impeachment, which is consistent with a growing public consensus about what must be done. Dubya and his Administration's record is abhorrent, illegal, and immoral, and the American people have a moral imperative to not only remove Bush and Cheney (among others) from office, but to prosecute them to the extent of the law.
OK, people, you want to save America?
No. 1: Support Kucinich and and any other of the extremely rare congressfolk who have the political courage to actually stand up to do the right thing (my bet is you won't, you'll be doing your partisan schtick, perhaps complain a bit, or nothing at all).
No. 2: Get a MILLION of your sorry asses up on the Mall, command the media attention and the conscience of the world, and STAY until this corrupt and murderous government is cashiered (my bet is you'll be at another mall, shopping).
"A people has the government it deserves." Now quit your bitchin' or GET TO WORK !
People made a lot of hopeful noise when Nancy Pelosi became the first woman Speaker of the House. But when she unilaterally declared that impeachment was "off the table," she showed her true colors as just another beltway insider seduced by power and ego... to hell with what the rest of the country says. In that respect, she and Shrub are two peas in a pod.
Thank you, Dennis Kucinich.
When you hear people talk about "winability", they just want you to vote for one of the corporate militarists, even though they are at odds with the majority of americans, where Kucinich is not at odds, they still have the nerve to refer to him as "less winable". Hillary voted for clusterbombs, and Obama is also an insider, who is ready to go to war with Iran at the behest of AIPAC, as is Edwards. Edwards, Hillary, and Obama are all strongly AIPAC supported and we have just gone through an era where this very organization was implicated in spying on us and attempting to manipulate this country into another war. Kucinich is really the ONLY option. It's Kucinich, or no-deal. I am not going to vote for any of the three stooges, or four if you count Hillary's partner in clusterbombs Joe Biden. What possible reason could these two have for crossing the isle to side with the republicans with clusterbombs? Sorry, there just is none.
I'm sorry to be ineligible to vote in the US elections. As a citizen of a felow "coalition of the willing/killing" country, I can only wish for a decent president in your White House. The one that upholds your democratic traditions, the one who is not beholden to any corporate or ideological interests, someone that the US can be proud of and the rest of the world can heave a big sigh of relief!!! We'll have elections in Oz later this year: the choice is between bad and worse... We don't really have a decent politician waiting in the wings.
Mr Kucinich, good on you! Citizens of the US: go and vote en masse for this man!!!!!! Can we hold our breaths?????
The founding fathers were very sensative about monarchies and included strong language in the constitution to prevent them. The constitution doesn't say that Congress has a choice to intoduce articles of impeachment if an impeachable offense occurs. It says "shall". Dennis Kucinich has it right. He is obligated by his oath of office uphold the constitution of the United States. He should be joined by every member of congress and every citizen.
Hooray for Dennis, a vegetarian who's willing to go for the administration's throat. Whether or not impeachment succeeds, Cheney has more to answer for than any VP in history. I would love to see him testifying under oath--not that I expect him to honor an oath, of course, but still . . .
Its about time, Cheney then Bush. Kucinich for President.
When I was a small child in the fifties, we lived far out in the country, and only went to the "store" once per week. I do not remember the incident, and was told of it many years later when I returned from a tour of duty as a US Marine in SE Asia. I had put a roll of anti acids in my shirt pocket no doubt thinking they were candy without paying for it. When we were packed into the family car and ready to go back to the farm, my Grandmother noticed the roll of anti acids and made me go back into the store and confess my theft to the owner and accept my punishment. I did as I was instructed.
If our president and vice president have committed crimes are they not subject to the same? My Grandmother has been dead for many years, but she would make Mr. Cheney go back and confess his crimes----------let the congress take up her job. After all we are not talking about a roll of anti acids.
its time to remove the liars and we all know that,it must happen quickly....cheney and bush need to be watched closely as evil lurks in there twisted minds....
all of europe supports kucinich....
Thankyou Dennis and Anne , I will support your efforts to the max! Don't fly on any small private planes or jets, please keep the faith. We will all pray for you.I have been telling Nancy she needs a larger table for a long time! The time is right the troops are behind you ,the people have your back ,your the Man!. Peace out and in. jh
Every week Cheney goes on a Sunday pundit program and repeats the lie about the Saddam - Bin Laden or Al-Qaeda connection with no evidence. I would just like to have a hearing discussing the topic of impeaching Cheney.
Dennis is a real candidate of the people. He's putting everything on the line in doing this so let's support him in any way each of us can. When he was the mayor of Cleveland in the late 70s, he did the same thing to save the city's low-cost municipal electric system from a takeover from a utility monopoly named Cleveland Electrical Illumination Co. that is widely considered the forerunner of Enron. From being touted as a future Governor of Ohio, this event caused him to lose his reelection bid , then being unable to find a job, nearly losing his house, having his wife leave him and having to survive on $38 in income in 1982.
Fortunately, he was able to make a comeback.
Go Kucinich! The only honest man in Washington. At least, the only one with the courage of his convictions.
No honor without impeachment.
No justice without prosecution.
These criminals cannot be allowed to slink out of office without being held accountable for unspeakable atrocities they have committed.
On SATURDAY, APRIL 28, 2007, many cities and towns around the country will be holding impeachment ceremonies. Make a sign: "KUCINICH FOR PRESIDENT 2008" and take it with you.
Go to the website below to see if there's an impeachment behing held in your area.
http://www.a28.org/
A correction on my post. The website for "Do It Yourself Impeachment" is: www.impeachforpeace.org Hope you'll visit and help D.K. bu taking this simple ACTION step.
Go Dennis go! I wish you well from New Zealand!
Rebel Farmer,
You are right on. Kucinich's action is only the beginning of a lot of work that will need to be done. If we ALL do what we can, the Congress and Ms. Pelosi will be hard-pressed to say no.
Regioster Democratic to vote for Kucinich in the primaries, then if he doesn't get anywhere, reregister to something else (preferrably Green IMO)and vote for him or Nader anyway.
Why? Becasue if neither of them get serious attention it doesn't matter who wins anyway.
Hillary, Obama, Edwards,
Richardson, McCain, Newt (yechhh!), Wesley Clark, Duncan Hunter, etc. will all pretty much do the same thing when it comes to the most urgent issues of our time. A plague on all their political houses!
I too paraded around the Colorado State Assembly as a delegate for Kucinich in '04. Our rally cry was "Send a message!!!" The Dems did NOT receive our message, but there is always hope.
If America were actually governed by the people, that message might have carried some weight. The Corpos have the power and all we the people can do is rail against the Right from inside some "Free Speech Zone" (Hyde Park anyone) while being as ignored as DK by the Corporate-owned press.
Peace to you and yours.
The only one in a position of power, candidate or not, doing the right - the mandated - thing. For president, or not, we need to support this guy.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. The beleaguered American People thank the Congressman for his courage and strength of character to do what we personally cannot step up to do. It is right and just to file our grievances against a public servant that has long turned a deaf ear to our cries for justice
With popular support, Kucinich may yet restore the people's sovereignty and the rule of law in America. Kucinich is shaping up to be a real presidential contender. After he spearheads the impeachment of the criminals, and their wider criminal networks, we'll elect him president, and let him hold down the fort while the people implement the progressive revolution. All across America, burger flippers will become small farmers, craftsmen and merchants serving booming local markets with globally shared best practices and methods.
As a totally jaded, politically disgusted, Viet vet, I became terminally (Or so I thought) apathetic about the politics-as-usual and the people who continued to support acorrupted system. Then, in 2003, something happened: I heard a guy named Dennis Kucinich was going to run for president in 2004. Then, the more I read (www.kucinich.us) and learned about this man, I felt myself beginning to glow inside. A glow of HOPE! Could it be? A REAL "WE THE PEOPLE person in, gag, politics?!
I became totally a "follower" of this great and courageous man. I ACTUALLY GAVE MONEY to a politician for the first time in my life! I even became a delegate for him at the Colorado state convention. I was hooked--and still am.
If you folks want to support him I recommend (Beyond the wonderful suggestions above) you visit very soon
www.impeachfor peace.com and follow the directions to file two citizen's petitions for impeachment. One copy will be sent to Dennis Kucinich's office and the other will be delivered with, hopefully, thousands and thousands of others while the cameras are rolling. Let's all WALK OUR TALK just as the Honorable Dennis J. Kucinich does. Like he said in 2004: "I AM electable, but you have to vote for me!"
I love you D.K....
Impeaching Cheney would pull the rug out from under Bush, who would probably suffer a mental breakdown, be declared legally insane by Congress and placed in a special insane asylum for "Mr. President," complete with token inmates and a model of the deck of the aircraft carrier Bush posed on in 2003.
Yes, it is high time to bring this botched, bloody, fetid abortion of a US presidency out of the back room. To the extent that these corporate scorpions are in power we have failed utterly. Let's all support impeachment now that we have an undeniable need for it.
More than impeaching Cheney and Bush, though, we must each create a revolution in our own lives by changing the way we live. We must form small, decentralized, self-sustaining communities which network with one another to share information related to survival and social transformation. Even after the rogues in Washington are gone, we will be left with the fruits of their misdeeds for decades to come. The less dependent we are on the US government for anything the less we will suffer when it collapses.
I think the reluctance to impeach stems not only from a fear of facing failure, but also from the dawning realization that the gluttonous way of life we have known since the end of WWII is coming to an end. Our democracy is not a solved equation. We have not gone to consumer heaven. God has not favored us above all other nations. It is time for us to wake up and grow up.
Every time the subject of impeaching Bush came up, I thought it was a bad idea, especially since I have sensed all along that Cheney is the manipulator behind the throne. So three cheers for going after Cheney first!
what more can I say?:"Kucinich for President!"
Americans from many political and social viewpoints seem to be realizing the severity of the misconduct and possible criminal actions of individuals in the Bush-Cheney administration.
Honorable people who retain human decency and a sense of citizenship and pride in our country are becoming more concerned about the Bush-Cheney gang. For more on this, take a look at:

This is long over due and Kudos to Dennis Kucinich for having the balls to do it and I am sure that there are millions more who feel the same way as I do.
Go Dennis!
Thank you, Dennis.
Save our country ! Impeach Bush / Cheney. This vicious junta has damaged or destroyed every democratic concept our forebears had understood as necessary to defend humankind against cruel and oppressive rule. The time is now to recitfy this cataclysmic horror by using the constitutionally mandated powers of Congress to indict and seek justice from these psychopathic perversons of humanity.
My husband and I have been ardent supporters and campaigners for Dennis since the early days of th elast campaign. Here in Northern California we are not alone. Everything I've read says he can and would be the best ever. We, and only we, will make it happen.
See you at Ocean Beach SF on April 28 at 10 am for another demonstration of •IMPEACH!• using our bodies to fill Brad Newsham's one hundred-foot-tall outlined letters.
The first three days of this week were amazing–working with Brad to fill three boxes with the string kits and get them shipped to… Coney Island, Central Park, and Coachella CA for a giant Red Hot Chili Peppers concert.
Find an activity near you, circulate homemade Kucunich information, wear pink, carry signs, tattoo a message on your forehead. Get involved.
For far too long voters, and indeed candidates, have accepted the rather flawed logic that since we live in a country that utilizes a two-party system - profoundly corrupted by special interests, the tyranny of the bottom line, and a mainstream media that is beholden only to its advertisers - we must all swallow that same bitter pill.
Don't dare vote for the one that you really think would be a great leader, vote for the one who will win. Folks, a time will come when we will have to just deal with the reality that as long as we continue to vote out of fear and greed, we will get nothing but leaders who are fearful and greedy.
I, for one, have decided that that time is here. Until another candidate steps up to the plate and demands that the VP and ultimately the Prez be not only impeached, but held accountable under oath and given the prison time they deserve, Kucinich will have my vote. And don't give me that bullshit about a vote for him is a vote for the other side. Save it! I'm done playing that game and the rest of ought to be too.
Bottom line: If we all decided not to play the lesser of two evils game, the game would cease to exist. It's up to us to be educated on the issues and take responsibility for the crooks that we have elected as a result of an ignorant voting system.
Cheney has been the greatest deceiver all along and continues to lie every time he is interviewed. He is a dangerous person and a serious force against democracy. He must be impeached and so must Bush.
Finally a statesman stands up and says we have to do the right thing.
Hoa Binh
Barbara Lee, John Lewis, Mike McNulty, Mike Michaud, Maxine Waters, Diane Watson, and Lynn Woolsey --- Okay, they deserve honorable mention. Conyers seems decent most of the time. But when it comes time to step up, it was McKinney, and now the torch goes to Kucinich.
Kucinich is the only decent Democrat in the fetid Congress. He deserves support and defense against the corporate elite who run this dog and pony show. If you plan to be involved in the presidential campaign and work for a candidate in the 2008 race, he's the one to support.
Work for impeachment now! One week to make a push from below:
http://www.a28.org/
We ALL need to do more than say "Thank You" to Kucinich!
The first thing we do after he introduces the Articles of Impeachment next week, is we go over to his web site (kucinich.us)and donate whatever we can to his campaign to show our support for everything he is doing.
Then we write ALL of our Congressional "representatives" and DEMAND that they support impeachment. Phone calls, letters, e-mail, the works.
Another thing we can do is contact our local newspapers and write letters to the editors or submit an article that supports impeachment. The thrust has got to be that impeachment, as jpeter noted, is the only way that justice will be served. This is NOT a partisan issue!
I'm sure that there will many "Actions" on multiple sites that will have petitions we can sign, or campaigns that we can join to support impeachment.
What a great day! Finally!!!!
I am so grateful to Dennis for having the courage to put his money where his mouth is. As the New York Times states, the last polls that were taken on impeachment showed that the majority supports it. It is the first step toward cutting out this cancer that has been eating away at our collective souls. To the rest of Congress--WAKE UP AND FOLLOW THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE!
Dennis Kucinich is the only Democratic candidate with the leadership and integrity we need in this country right now. Go Dennis!

Thankyou Dennis, maybe eventually we can hold this administration accountable for war crimes. Impeachment is a good start.
Oops. Add John Lewis to the above list of those who voted against the Iraq occupation funding request. The Progressive Eight are:
Dennis Kucinich, Barbara Lee, John Lewis, Mike McNulty, Mike Michaud, Maxine Waters, Diane Watson, and Lynn Woolsey.
Impeaching that bastard cheney is not about revenge, its about justice. Justice for the parents, wives, brothers, sisters of the deceased service men and women who were sent on a fools errand into Iraq.
If this criminal administration can leave office without being taken to task over their egregious behaviour, what will it say about a nation that is supposed to be a system of laws, to protect the many from the predatory few?
Justice is all we are asking for.
Justice.
The question is this: will the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) and its 71 members abandon Kucinich in this effort. My guess is not even John Conyers (a pretty good progressive) will defy the corporate-militarist leadership represented by Pelosi.
In the Senate, when Russ Feingold came forward and censured Bush for his illegal spying, the entire Senate (minus Kerry and Boxer) abandoned him.
In a similar way, there is a good chance that the CPC will abandon Kucinch, minus perhaps the other seven of the Progressive Eight who refused to vote for the recent Iraq occupation funding request: Barbara Lee, Mike McNulty, Mike Michaud, Maxine Waters, Diane Watson, and Lynn Woolsey.
A lot of letters and calls to the CPC members would be a good thing, once Dennis Kucinich files.
The CPC members can all be found here:

Kucinich is to be applauded. Let's see if the others in Congress do their jobs to defend civil liberties, restore integrity and trust in government, and set the Republic back on the right track.
There is unlimited grist for this mill. Haliburton's war profiteering, the war mongering, the influence of oil companies on energy policy, etc. Investigation is the only thing congress can do to challenge the unitary executive strategy the Bush administration.
Kucinich has made the first move. Now, we the citizens, have to do our part. We have to get out in the streets, millions of us, and demand impeachment. Democracy is always defended in the streets.
Dennis Kucinich is currently the ONLY candidate I consider to be honest and truthful. The presence of even one candidate telling the truth is an extraordinary matter if other candidates are unable to successfully dismiss him. Telling the truth will force the other candidates to be more truthful, if he is not eliminated from the debate. But don't expect the press to give him much air.
I have said, and I maintain, that nearly all politicians are whores. On the other hand, since there are very few absolutes in life, I personally believe that it is quite possible, just this once, that one in our midst is truly one of us, a person whose political involvement is driven by passion for doing what is right and not monetary and corporate interests. We certainly need a leader like that, if there is one.
Here is a link to a speech now well-known amongst his fans. It is known as "Spirit and Stardust". Before you dismiss his cosmic perspective on life on Earth (like other Democratic candidates perhaps would do), I would invite you to read all of it. If you refute it, try doing so without stooping to turn it into a caracature, as the press so often does. I find this perspective much more refreshing than that of a "War President" who traces his twisted religious logic back to Jesus.

I am in favor of impeachment for Cheney and Bush.
Impeachment events will be taking place around the country on Saturday, April 28, 2007. Check them out at:

Thank you Congressman Kucinich!! It is incredible to me that the issue is being run away from by so many people. It is past time that we bring these suspects to task.
There are a lot of great comments posted here. I think Dennis would to see them posted on his Presidential campaign website as well. Now I have to tell you that you need to register first and wait for your password to be emailed to you before posting messages.
Once that is done, there are 2 places in particular on his website you can post comments, which Dennis and his wife Elizabeth do read. The website is kucinich.us. On the home page, you can post a comment or more than one under the Impeachment Discussion. Then you can scroll to the bottom of the page and click Page 3. You can also post a comment at Impeachment: I'm Asking You. Is It Time?
