What is RSS?
RSS is an XML format that stands for "Really Simple Syndication" or "Rich Site Summary" or even "Really Stops Spam", depending on who you talk to. Basically it's really just a standardized format for sharing content over the Internet. RSS is a lot like TiVo but for the Internet - you get to choose what content you want and when. For CommonDreams.org readers with a web site, the CommonDreams.org webfeed is the best way to add our news & views to your site.
How do I use webfeeds?
Since our webfeed is in the RSS format, you'll need an RSS reader (also known as an RSS aggregator).
Where do I download an RSS reader?
There are many feed readers available, most for free. We recommend Feed Reader for Windows and NetNewsWire Lite for Macintosh. There are many additional free software programs in addition to these if you prefer something different. You can search Google for "RSS reader" to view many options.
OK, I've downloaded the reader, now how do I get the CommonDreams.org webfeed?
Once you've installed the RSS reader, you can add our feed by clicking on the link above. Setting up a feed differs depending on the reader, but it usually involves copying the URL of the feed and pasting it into the reader.
